I watched the last episode of Diamond and Pearl last night and I was wondering what people thought of Brock's sendoff. I saw some YouTube comments on a clip of him and Ash saying goodbye say that it didn't do him justice after being on the show for so long, but I disagree. I found it to be suitable and it didn't have to be a long and emotional moment like Ash saying goodbye to him and Misty in "Gotta Catch Ya Later." I guess they could've put some clips in of the two of them together before the final handshake and goodbye from the different series, but it was sufficient and had the right feel.

I haven't seen the episode yet, I'm only up to season 13 now. But I think people might believe a handshake to be insufficient mainly because Brock was on the show for 12 seasons, and so for some people Brock would be very worthy of a bigger send off. I can't really say obviously. But the thing is, as I'm watching the DP anime, I've been noticing that they hint at Brock leaving quite a lot throughout some episodes. His role got smaller the longer he was on the show, so maybe he did deserve a bigger send off, but again, I cant say. But I agree with you in that Brock's relationship with Ash was never the kind of thing that would have made them have an extremely emotional moment. In fact, while watching these episodes, sometimes its hard to believe that Ash and Brock are even supposed to be good friends.

I'm providing a minor spoiler for you and others who haven't watched the end of DP yet but just before the end they show that Brock wanted to pursue his own dreams. He was just traveling with Ash, he wasn't doing anything other than making Pokémon food and occasionally helping a sick or injured Pokémon to go forward with his own dream.

Well that sounds about right. But then maybe some peoples problem with their goodbye was the way the writers handled that reveal? Brock just all of a sudden coming out and saying that he wants to do x and y and he doesn't want to travel with Ash anymore. To me as a fan it wouldn't seem sudden, but to the actual characters on the show it definitely would.

I wouldn't say his goal was shoehorned in, they showed him performing the duties of a Pokémon doctor and assisting Nurse Joy on several occasions. It just wasn't until the end of DP that he realized he wasn't following his dream and he should train to become a Pokémon doctor rather than continuing to travel with Ash and say he wants to be the best breeder.

Everyone go alone to achieve their dreams.... But at least they could have shown some special episode abut ash meeting his old friends.

Yes I agree. Brock's send off was very very weak. He had little to no dev in Pokemon DP and worked on the dream about becoming a Breeder and then suddenly changed it at the end of the saga.

It was very very weak send off. Out of all the send offs, he had the weakest and he was the older character other than Ash. They could have done a LOT better. I do think he needed to be retired, but god they could have done a better job. Even Iris and Cilan had better send offs than him, and they were probably the most disliked companions in all of pokemon.
