Building a Weather Team [A Guide by Tortured_Soul]

Well, with that said, I believe Claydol is the safest switch-in in the game. Just thought I'd get that out, even if it is off topic x_x

Anyways, continue.....

I didn't say THE safest :P also Claydol gets really badly owned by Specsmence and CBmence takes a large chunk of its HP. Honestly Claydol is actually a bit risky.

But ANYWAYS...

Seriously you really need to say something about Weezing since it's one of the most reliable fighting resists in the game and helps Hail teams a lot. EQ immunity and resisting Megahorn is a huge plus, and it counters Gyarados and can WoW physical stuff and can beat any guts pokemon one on one besides normals which are uncommon.

though it probably needs backup these days as Medicham got physical Psycho cut. Either way I love using it on teams that get shreded by fighters since it beats them all.

EDIT: also Resttalk Cressi is cool but dies to Megahorn and shadow claw.

Only if you run Smogon's set, I mean seriously, who decided Claydol needs Speed? Seriously....

Anyways, I think Toxicroak should be mentioned specifically. Mainly because of the access to Poison Jab, Cross Chop, Rain Dance, etc. It just spells doom for a Hail team.

Um Hydro Pump will just massacre it and Claydol will not survive two Draco Meteors, especially considering a Suicune can't and it has way higher HP and only slightly smaller SDef. then again it is given Def EVs a lot but so is Claydol so meh. also Speed EVs on claydol? Somebody was smoking when they were making those Evs :0

Also most of those resistances T_S listed aren't reliable at all since Stone Edge/*Fighting Move* is very common and will break Mamoswine and Froslass easily if the foe can predict. Generally they can. also it might not be a Choice set which will just wreck you.

Also Walrein just gets murdered by the physical stuff.

Seriously stuff like Swampert and Suicune are better to take resisted attacks since they don't die to the other ones. Also Tyranitar is by far the biggest threat to hail teams since they switch the weather and can OHKO any ice type with Stone edge action. DDtar is tough as well.

also Mamoswine doesn't evene resist Rock BTW. also a lot of people use Ice Body Walrein on Hail teams and honestly is better with Hail Support.

Claydol is a really bad switch in to Salamence, no matter which version. It absolutely hates taking Specs Draco Meteor, not to mention Hydro Pump. The CB version will also hurt it a lot, and Claydol doesn't have a reliable recovery move. Also, Ice Beam usually never kills Salamence if you don't put some EV's in SATK. Blissey, however, can handle most things, only threatened by the CB version, and still nothing on it will be close to 1HKO'ing her.

If Regice had a recovery move it would probably be the best Salamence counter.

Also I agree with Anti about Mamoswine.. not resisting TTar's main STAB move doesn't make him a good switch in, and one should be careful of those fast [jolly] TTar that can Flamethrower Mamo afterwards.

Hmmm, ok, Weezing then. I'm not a big fan of Resttalk Cress, do you really think it should be included?

@Mamoswine: What other Commonly used pokemon would you consider counters Rock better? You will most likely say Skarmory, but w/e.

Skarmory doesn't even resist Rock moves and gets 2HKOed by Stone edge from CBtar who shreds apart Hail teams. Yeah, I'm really going to recommend that :/

the best rock resist in the game IMO is Swampert. I would say steelix but it dies to Quake/Fighting attacks and those are commonly seen with rock Slide/Stone edge.

Honestly I really don't like the linking to smogon. Some of their pages aren't even that good.

I'd also take out the italicized text in the threats section, it's tough to read.

I only added it because it is a resource to some sort of set. I don't much like them either, and lol'd when I heard about speed EV's on Claydol. Do you have a better place for standard sets? I just put them up for the people who don't have much an understanding on the standard sets on these pokemon.

I'll lost the Italics, and Tenta will be added Azelf, a rapid spinner should be needed here I suppose.

People can find that out on their own though. Listing good resources and stuff at the end is much more helpful.

The last thing I (or probably anybody else) wants is for PC to be smogon 2.

Also CB is in no way a must on Mamoswine ._.

If you want it to be a decent threat without needing to be passed anything it needs CB. It is outsped all the time, and Ice Shard isn't always going to help it. At least it can hit harder. If you think so though, what other Items/Move sets should be used?

Also, I was intending to put up a list at the end with all the pokemon, this is just temporary.

I would probably be better to finish it and THEN post it IMO.

Also Mamo is a fun little Scarfer, there's always :horns: (take it away Iceman) and Oife Orb Mamoswine works really well.

Also Earthquake should be your main way to attack anyways, why worry about Ice Shard? It will KO what you need it to anyways.

Life Orb Mamoswine worked very well... almost TOO well. He got to kill so many things it's not funny.

And I still think Hariyama should be on the list!

I just wanted to say that You said Abomosnow specifically isn't weak to any common leads, but that's untrue.

Brick Break:Weavile
Flamethrower:Salamence
Stone Edge:Gyarados

You get the drift.

You're forgetting Gengar :P Also Tyranitar can simply smash it.

Also Regirock doesn't even care about fighting and ground moves, especially if it's the curser. Regirock shrugs it off like nothing and fires back whatever he wants.

Also Registeel needs to be in there >:0

Regice doesn't really need to be wary of Fire Types also due to being one of the best Special Walls in Anti's opinion. However, I have yet to use one myself and see if it really is one of the best Special Walls.

Was Snorlax added to one of the counters for hail teams? Most Ice Types are Special attacks, and, to the durable and realtively sturdy special Wall, RestalkSnorlax, does crap. I think that variant has more SDEF EVs invested, no? Edit: 200 SDEF needs to be wary of inferno-types, I beg to differ. :O

My Abomasnow runs Grass Knot.

Registeel will be added, but which one? Both?

@Marriland: You want regice to be your sole focus? It isn't able to switch into a Fire attack, and it's weak against 4 very common types. Because of this I don't think it's exactly the best one.
