[Sword & Shield] Can someone help me understand this please?

It is past 8:00 P.m. and my Nintendo Switch is saying that it is P.M. and it is dark in the wild area, but every time I try to evolve my Milcery into an Alcremie, I give my Milcery a strawberry sweet, and I spin clockwise for at least ten seconds, but for some reason instead of getting a mint cream Alcremie, I keep getting a Ruby Swirl Cream Alcremie. Why is that?

Edit: I meant to say counter clockwise, not clockwise.

I believe you need to spin counter clockwise to get the Mint Cream Form.

The only two things I can think of if you're spinning counter clockwise is that you need to either a) do it at a later time just to make sure the game considers it night and/or b) make sure you spin for more than 5 seconds but less than 10 (since some forms require 10+ seconds but Mint Cream only 5+)
