4th Gen Canons, how I Hate Thou!

I will most probably canon the manga as well. Even though I'm a boy, it sorta satisfies me so o_O. Platina, Pearl, Piplup. Damnit! The rival will get a turtwig and I believe as well everyone should have a Turtwig! Arrggg! Why oh why!

Infact the franchise should be called "Turtwig" and be about loads of people who battle tree-turtles together.

I pretty much always start with fire, just because I used to when I was little, and lately I've been going with the girl, but still calling myself Dylan, so when people play it they're always like, wtf? then I tell them to stop playing my diamond and call them noobs, but yeah, Iprefer to be creative myself :)

I try to mix up the video game canon and the anime canon, since they are the most notable aspects of the Pokemon franchise. I only try to make rivals anime canon (except Pearl in Gen IV because he looks like a Clayton to me :)).
Also, in Gen III., I'm trying to make all major characters that aren't part of the Pokemon League be in Hoenn by having a 'secret base'.
As for the male player character, I name him based on what he looks like instead of the game-generated names because most of them don't fit IMO:
Red (FireRed) > Wyatt Myers
Brendan > Sean Powers
Lucas > Clinton Hall
Wes > Seamus
Michael > Landon

I only named the 3D people because Wes had a blue outfit, and Michael had red hair, so I sorta did a cheap red vs. blue attempt :) That's pretty much it; I then go my game canon...

But I hate how the girls in the games have the wrong parents (like in Gen. III, when playing as a boy, Birch should be dad and May has Norman has her dad). It sorta screws up the story but I'd like 'em to have their proper anime relatives... Plus, I hate how we don't get to visit all of those 'anime-exclusive' areas in the games (i.e., Rinshin Town, Orange Islands, etc.). Nintendo could put them in the games so we have more stuff to do.

That's because the anime is based on the games, not the other way round. The anime Dawn's parents are based on the story of R/S if you choose to play as the girl.

Am I the only one who doesn't think about the cannon when I'm playing a video game? :P

The cannon is confusing at best, you should probably stick to naming your character after yourself, choosing whichever Pokemon you like, and continue the game from there. If for some reason you feel like you are going to explode unless you follow the cannon, maybe you should seek psychiatric help, or at least stop watching anime/manga. :/

But whatever, to each his own.

I named my character in Platinum "Hana" after my username, AND to fit the Japanese theme... I never thought about the canon. The reason I used Piplup in Pearl is because I wanted to go through Gym #1 easily... I regretted it. So I chose Chimchar in Platinum.

Conclusion: I ignore the canons. Happy?

Yeah don't get upset just becuase it doesn't match the anime...and Barry doesn't start with Turtwig, he starts with a Piplup in the anime...

You seriously shouldn't try and copy the cannons in game, because you'll end up mixing the storylines together.

Dawn seems more experienced, and more mature than the anime, and Lucas is non-existent.

As for Barry, he isn't in the anime, either, so you shouldn't try and copy the anime, because the storyline may be a bit similar, but overall it's going to end up being a lot different.

UR like OCD complicated i think u need help but im just going to say one thing PICK THE STARTER U WANT IT DOSE NOT MAKE A DIFFERENCE

While Damion is now going to be in the anime, under the name of Jun for the Japanese episodes, and he has Empoleon, so now you really can't canon the anime to a full extent, as Dawn and Damion both can't have a Piplup to begin with. Oh well...

Unlike the Pokemon in the show who want to stay as babies for the rest of their animated lives, I always evolve my Pokemon. I use canon names and I don't nickname my Pokemon but I still make my own story whenever I play. It's okay to follow the anime if you want to. But don't follow it exactly or you're going to get whupped.
