So this question isn't directly covered by anything, with the only questions relating to whether you'll play slow/fast, what you think will be in the pokedex and the reward for catching them all, yet there's nothing asking if you'll actually catch them all.

With over 700 Pokemon confirmed, do you plan on completing the national dex, or would you rather stick to just completing the regional dex, or nothing at all? Why/why not? Would completing the dex leave you feeling fufilled after SO MANY POKEMON you have to capture, evolve and trade? Share your thoughts/intentions!

I will probably do what I do in most games and slowly build up my collection. I am thinking of actually completing the national Pokedex in B2W2 for the reward, so if there's a significant enough reward I might try. But if there isn't? Probably won't bother... I'll catch what I want when I want and just enjoy the Pokemon I have. :3

Honestly? I gave up trying to catch them all after Diamond and Pearl. Usually at times I'll go off on a catching spree and try filling up my PokéDex, but overall, it just isn't a main concern. I like to train a lot of the Pokémon I enjoy using and I like to try out new Pokémon I've never had the chance of using yet. But, it doesn't really compel me enough to go out and fill up my entire PokéDex. With their being over 700 Pokémon now, I may just make a fetal attempt for the regional dex alone.

I definitely try and get the Pokémon that are much harder to obtain though. Especially when there's an event Pokémon available, I usually don't like to miss those in case I ever do want to catch 'em all. I'll play it the same way with X and Y.

I would mainly stick to completing the Regional Pokédex, 'cause I'd have to spend so many hours having to complete the National Pokédex if felt like completing it in Pokémon X and Y.

So in the end... it wouldn't be worthwhile unless you got something really amazing for it, like a sound test function for instance. xD

Starting from Pokemon Pearl, I always complete the National Dex.

As of now, I've completed it in so many games that I actually have at least one of every Pokemon sitting in Black 2's PC.

Completing the PokeDex is always the biggest challenge in Pokemon games, and I always strive to do it.

I commend all of you that try to compete your National Dex. I've never bothered to because of how ridiculously tedious it is and I started playing the pokemon series with Blue. didn't finish that dex either

I like to capture the pokemon that look appealing to me or somewhat rare.

Sound test in main series games would be bloomin' welcome

I might try completing the pokedex again.

I've been playing pokemon since the first generation but it wasn't until I played Soul Silver that I finally completed the national pokedex.

When the 5th gen came out I was a bit weary (completing the dex was a big thing)....but who knows, it might be time to try it again.

Currently I'm only 4 event only pokemon away from finishing my current lving dex. Depending on how they handle transfering pokes from gen 5 to gen 6 it won't be difficult for me to update to gen 6 complete.

I've never completed a national dex. I generally end up completing the regional dex in the first game of the region though, just because I like to catch and try out pretty much everything, and eventually I get close enough to completing it that I decide to go out of my way to catch or trade in those last few.

I'd imagine that's what I'll do in the next games too.

I doubt I'll bother to complete the National Dex in 6th gen, though I'll probably complete the regional dex. I completed the National Dex in gens 1-4, but I don't find the accomplishment as rewarding as it once was. One thing I've noticed is that ever since online trading became possible, I've felt a lot less motivated to complete my Pokedex. To complete my Pokedex in Gold, for instance, I borrowed my friend's Yellow Version and restarted and played through most of the game just to get an Omanyte. Now, though, if I can't easily find a Pokemon on my own, I can just go online and ask someone to trade it to me, which takes out a lot of the challenge and just makes Pokedex completion a tedious, rather than rewarding, task. Yes, I could just avoid wifi and complete the Pokedex the "hard" way, but just knowing that a lot of people trade for lots of the Pokemon they need devalues Pokedex completion for me.

Also, I've noticed that I don't have as much time to play Pokemon anymore (I've only put in 10-12 hours on BW2 in three months, and I think that will probably be an ongoing trend). Given my lack of time, I'll probably catch all of the Pokemon I see, as that's the way I always play, and I"ll take many months to complete X/Y, but I don't think I'll worry too much about the National Dex, and I doubt I'll complete it (just like I'm nowhere near completing it in B/W).

I've never bothered to catch them all, because I only catch and train what I intend to actually use. It may sound silly but I don't like the idea of pokemon trapped in a PC box never to be used again.

Although, I did consider it for B2/W2 because of the shiny charm, but then I figured If i cared enough about shinies I could just learn to RNG. At the same time, it's because of RNG abuse that shinies aren't as special as they once were so I said screw it.

I will definitely complete the national pokédex. I do that in every game. Did it in Blue, on Silver, on Soulsilver, on White and I'm 9 pokémon away from completing my black 2 dex.

I do hope the shiny charm returns. Maybe a shiny starter of our choice as a gift for completing each region's pokédex. That would motivate many people to catch them all :P

I try to capture all of the regional pokemon, and be suuuper lazy with the national pokedex, so that's what I'll do in this gen. too! Well, okay, maaaaybe this time I can make an effort to catch em' all, but, it takes. So. Long. D= But I will at least try and capture all of the legendary pokemon, and event pokemon!

In never really aim to fill up the National Dex, I catch them randomly as I encounter them but with X and Y I might actually try to catch them all since there will be over 700 which is challenging enough.

I think that I'll give it a shot this time.
