Chapter 3B: Monkey business

One half of the party remains behind, keeping watch over the mountain's foot. When you hear rustling, your feeling of paranoia leaves you. You know someone has been following you.
The rustling in the bushes becomes louder and several Pokémon emerge. One of them has a familiar, yet different, face.

Level objective: protect the mountain!
Don't let any enemy leave the map up the mountain (H/I/J 21). You when when all enemies are defeated!

Starting position: on the sand at the mountain's foot.
Of course, those trees aren't a valid starting position. As usual, pick an available spot you like. I heard squares marked in blue are a pain for the eyes, so here's some natural sand for your convenience to choose from.

I serve another boss this time, a more capable one. It isn't merely a difference in my pay check, some fabulous equipment comes with the job as well. Down you go, my friends. The tables have turned, huehuehue."

You are challenged by Simisear's Gang!

Player Phase 1 starts!

: Well now, our old coward has returned and in his evolved form no less. We do have a Super Effective counter for him but know that our goal is to not allow anyone to get by us. Meaning its quite possible that there will be far more than what we initially have to face here. Its a nice sign to see Fairy Flowers again(HEALING@!!!) and Berry Trees are a nice addition as well. In the spoiler below you'll find my thoughts on the map, enemies and where we might start.

Spoiler:

First off, our enemies are all lower in level save for Simisear the coward. I'm pretty sure it still knows Incinerate so we have to take care. Here's the possible moves our enemies have:

Venonat: Psybeam(Rn Shot Psychic move), Confusion(Rn3 Psychic move), Poisonpowder(RnSide move similar to Stun Spore and Sleep Powder(works up to targets 2 squares away)) and Supersonic or some other move that doesn't do much. Fortunately, its level 22 since it learns Stun Spore at 23 and Signal Beam at 25 so Alex and Robin don't have to worry there. Making it my priority target since its a Bug and I want to go after those weak to my Fire.

Alolan Rattata x 3: It's level 21 on all three so it doesn't know Crunch. What Dark moves it does know are Bite, Pursuit and Assurance(which is double power if target has already taken damage this turn). Due to our advantage over this Pokemon, these should be a priority by Meta and Unicorn.

Remoraid: Aurora Beam, Bubblebeam and Psybeam just to name a few. Priority target for Round 1 as I see it.

Snubbull: We have no Fairy counter within the group sadly. Fortunately, its moveset sucks unless he gave it Ice or Fire Fang to start. However, it likely knows Lick(Ghost) and Bite(Dark) so Robin and Mercy should keep their distance. Due to not having a counter for it, we'll have to gang up on it in Round 2.

Crabrawler: Tucked away into a corner, this Pokemon knows Power-up Punch and Bubblebeam. Its just out of reach of Robin if he were to start at K15 so we're going to have to hold off on attacking him for now. However, he's Robin's priority due to his Type Advantage. Meta can lend a hand if he so chooses too but I think he'll have more fun with the Rattata.

Trapinch: Ground type with little movement. However, it likely knows Crunch and Ground Type moves so myself and Waterproof need to steer clear. Freesia also has to watch it thanks to Poison Typing. We won't be able to counter it until Round 2 at the earliest.

Ferroseed: Lycan would add this Pokemon in to taunt me from the Get Together event... It knows Pin Missile so Dark and Psychic Types keep that in mind. It likely also knows Curse to boost its stats but so far I don't know of anyone with Baton Pass to really make me have PTSD from that event lol. Also knows Gyro Ball and other Steel moves. Waterproof and myself will likely make him a priority target due to x4 vulnerability. Round 2 or onward target.

Jangmo-o: A Dragon Type... At least we got Mercy who's immune to its moves or Susato with a Fairy move to help take it down. I also have Ice Cream that I wasn't able to use last battle as well. Being level 23, it likely only knows Dragon Tail. Mercy and Susato should keep an eye on him and attack him if he attempts to make for the mountain pass.

Simisear: Our cowardly boss this battle. Not sure what moves it knows seeing as it didn't really fight in Battle#1 but it's since evolved. Meta does have a couple water attacks in his item pouch but otherwise we lack a true counter to him outside of myself and Waterproof being resistant or immune to him altogether.

Starting positions and opening moves(based on starting spots). Note these are recommendations or suggestions. You do not have to follow it.

Susato: H14; Stay and use Helping Hand
Unicorn: G14; Move to D16 and use Rock Smash on Rattata-A(Helping Hand + STAB + x4. OHKO if we're lucky. If not, Alex will lend a hand)
Alex: F14; Move to D15 and use Quick Attack on Rattata-A if its still alive. If it falls, you have several options. First option is to move down to D11 and Attack Snubbull with Bite. Crazy I know for a Dark Type to be so bold with a Fairy Type but it doesn't know Fairy moves based on its moveset(learns Play Rough at 37). Short of it knowing Dazzling Gleam(which I'd be shocked if it did), you should be able to attack him without much retaliation. Bite will do roughly as much as Quick Attack(due to STAB and Bite having higher base power), but I wanted to try and get a flinch that will buy us time to KO it. Another option is to stay back at H15 and hold the pass. Going down to E10 to lend a hand on Rattata-B is too risky with Ferroseed so hopefully Meta gets the OHKO.
Meta: I13; Move to G10(Tall Grass) and use Vacuum Wave on Rattata-B(Helping Hand + Technician + x4 = OHKO most likely)
Mozilla: Start at G13; Move to F7 and use Ember on Venonat(Helping Hand + STAB + x2 = badly wounded, if not OHKO)
Robin: I15; Do nothing for now, although you could move to J14 and use Psywave on Remoraid if and only if Freesia fails to take it down
Freesia: I14; Stay put and use Razor Leaf on Remoraid(Helping Hand boosting you to 63 and x2 should deal significant damage, if not OHKO)
Lily: J15; Stay and use Growth
Mercy: J13; Stay and use Double Team
Waterproof: F15; Move to E11 to use Ember on Snubbull

You know I was half expecting it to return sometime soon. I just expect this battle to be harder than it looks because I expect more enemies to appear in time and the comment Simisear mentioned regarding Equipment bothered me a bit. Something tells me we may have to deal with enemies who have items of their own, including Dynamite. Therefore quick and effective KO's of enemies to limit the damage should be our priority.

A thought did occur to me that if Robin could start at K19, he could OHKO Crabrawler with ease using Psyshock. However, I believe we are limited to the sand at the base of the route heading up the Mountain. Oh and Lycan, I think Meta's SpD is greater than 4 don't ya think?

More like an educated guess since outside of the Kanto arc in SuMo(where the art style really gives it away), the last time Bulbasaur was used in any real fashion was during XY. Furthermore, May?s Bulbasaur didn?t have the spotlight all that much. Besides... last time Ash used his own Bulbasaur was during Frontier anyway.

Anyways, I?m estimating ~60 damage from your Razor Leaf Attack and roughly as much from my Ember Attack on Venonat. Meaning Robin won?t have to finish it off and Venonat will get to retaliate unless I get lucky with a Critical Hit.
