i recently became interested in making graphics but i'm not too good with photoshop, so criticism will be appreciated because i really want to get better at this.
i'll try to update regularly (: feel free to use any if you like them :P

You've got some really good icons here like these ones:

While your style of colouring shines on some stocks, it doesn't work in all of your icons and that sort of saturated but high contrast look is pretty bold. For example, all the Pokemon icons (minus the second one) I'd argue are too saturated, and the last two definitely have too much contrast.

I'm not telling you to abandon your style completely, but that gloomy almost washed out look would work very well in some of the stocks you are using, so I'd invest some time in experimenting with colours and trying new schemes and stuff. Maybe even look up live journal for some icon tutorials, I always pick up additional little tricks and techniques just by skimming through.

You've got the basics well and truly down, just need more variety. Keep it up!

EDIT: Can I point you in the direction of the Icon Wall (← click that) as well. You've got some great stuff, and that thread needs some lovin'! :D

thanks for the advice (: so i searched for some icon tutorials and came across one that i liked.
i made a batch based on the tutorial with the theme 'food' :P i haven't actually mastered the skill yet though :\
i'll be trying out the usage of textures next (:

oh and okay (: i'll make some icons for the icon wall when i get the time to do so ><

still working on my icons. meanwhile, i tried a different way of colouring manga scans (:
this time it's a scan of mayo chiki, the left being konoe subaru and the right being suzutsuki kanade.
it turned out okay i guess :/ don't mind the lack of toning o____o i'm no good at that on the computer ):

Really digging the 3rd and 4th icons of the latest batch! The other ones not so much, mainly because of stock placement and sizing. But keeping playing with different styles, these ones were really good, but experimenting will only improve your stuff and get it into a style of your own!

Manga colouring look pretty darn good! I've never coloured any images before personally, so I can't give you any tips or tricks or anything like that, but they look good!
The tag versions of each though definitely need reworking. Mainly just because you haven't resized the image, just reduced the canvas, which isn't a terrible thing, but obviously the stock doesn't sit as well as if it was resized. Basically the stock is too big for the canvas, and only having the head in the canvas doesn't really help the aesthetic or anything. So yeah, just in future, have a muck around with resizing the stock if you are making a tag (banner) version cause you will always be able to find a better position that just sits better.

Nice stuff though!

I am in love with your icons~
The use of coloring in them are lovely; especially in these ones:

I particularly like how you've brought out a certain color, e.g. the red in the icon with the cat, I think you've pulled that off nicely.

Anyhow, Great job!

I really like your choice of colors in a lot of your icons - my personal favorite is the little snowmen one. The reddish color complements the icon very well in my eyes! Glad you chose to alter it from the original color that was in the stock.

The Joltik icon on the other hand (although it's a good icon!) is a little rough on the eyes; seems like the colors are a little too strong.

This one is a little bright, little too washed out. The colouring of the blue is really good, but I'm feeling that the magenta is a little too overpowering. Draws attention away from the blue, particular around her neck. Just tone down the lighting and the magenta, and you've got a really nice icon.

This one is really good on the bottom half, but the top feels too smothered by the texture and the blue/brown isn't working to compliment the purple hues. That said, the use of light orbs and the colouring on the bottom half is really top notch, so just some erasing of the texture around the top of the canvas will really bump up this icon!

This one is a little weaker than the other two. Firstly the textures don't feel positioned as well as the other ones: the lights on her hair are a bit distracting, and the texture down the bottom feels a bit messy and low quality. The stock positioning is pretty generic, but it works. The red colours are quite nice, but they are thrown off by the amount of contrast you have. Those blacks are too black and it makes the icon too dark.

This batch isn't as good as your others, but you said you just started using textures, and with that said, it is definitely a great start. Keep going with the textures, because they will give your icons more variety and make them more interesting. One thing though, try and play with less generic or expected stock positioning. It's hard to make a really unique icon, but the stock size and position pretty much dictates it, and you are playing very safe a lot of the time.

Anyway, keep it up, you've got really good balance in different styles and whatnot! :D
