4th Gen Chimchar's Worth

YES. Infernape is wonderful :D
Seeing as how I was born in the year of the Monkey, this might sway my opinion LMAO
About the only things it's weak against are flying, psycic and ground.
 
i was born in the year of the chicken so i SHOULD be more into Blaziken but i'm more into monkeys for some reason. and whoever thinks Infernape is ugly is an idiot.

Out of all the fire starters, Charizard is my fave, but Infernape comes in at a VERY close 2nd.
 
Infernape's my fave with Blaziken as 2nd, Charizard is 3rd.

Yeah right before I even knew about EV's I was fighting an Emopleon vs Inferape and close combat took out a chunk of health but in the end Inferape died by surf.

So it didn't have any Evs in attack? well no wonder Empoleon didn't die

maybe I should have added speed and attack is key, but I thought that was a bit too obvious to mention.
 
infernape has the best speeed but has rubbish def and torterra has best def and i tink empoleon has the best attack
 
Well I just got a Chimchar through the GTS. I already have Charizard as my fire type Pokemon in my team, but when fully evolved could Infernape be a viable option on a competitive battling team? I haven't had too many battles but in the ones I've had I have never seen Infernape on my opponents team.

the bad thing why people dont put infernape in there team is because its only good for speed and if say someone uses an attack like earthquake or surf its likely to be a one hit ko

At any rate, Infernape is quite useful if used correctly. And when you consider Blaziken's lack of Close Combat and slower speed, Infernape fits better in the sweeper position.

Monkey with flames bursting out of its head > frenzied chicken imo. As for the bolded part, that's a matter of preference and that should never be passed on as a fact. I hate it when people seem to think their opinion is more important than others' when and start claiming it as something definite. If you like chickens more than monkies (or in this case Blaziken more than Infernape) then fine, but don't start telling others what they should think. >.<

Charizard is taken care of by Stone Edge and Grass Knot gives Swampert second thoughts about switching in. And who said this is a thread about which starters Infernape can beat anyway?

The fact that Empoleon can beat Infernape one-on-one does not make Empoleon better. <.< And I like Infernape's design more than Blaziken's and I no I'm not the only one so I'm sure many people would like it if you'd add ''In my opinion'' somewhere after the comment about looks because the way you're saying it now makes it sound like it's a fact, which it obviously isn't.
 
I started off with a piplup back then although I think chimchar's also good. I think both of them looks absolutely cute and powerful. Although I still give credit to Blaziken's cool power! X3

Huh? I chose Piplup. xP

Anyway, I'm pretty neutral about Chimchar+evos. They're nicely designed and it's pretty obvious it's useful in competitive battling. The unoriginality of the type combo doesn't really bother me, as this time all the starters got a secondary type: Ground, Fighting and Steel.

All in all, I still like Piplup+evo line more, even if they aren't as useful in battling. :D
 
I've used Torterra and Infernape, I must say I like both equally, I still have a Prinplup and when it gets to Empoleon I'm going to breed it off to get a good nature. But every starter is good and has a decent or well thought up move pool... Sceptile suffered a lot in DP because he lost his best move to it becoming physical.
 
I've recently acuired all three starters and I find them all very good, but I personally prefer Chimchar, but that's probably because I'm a fire <3-er :D

As for all those who are putting down fans of Chimchar, SHMAE BE UNTO YOU!! >:( We aren't making fun of your preferences!!

That's very nice of you. I won't make fun of yours either, I'll just mention that my Empoleon "deals with" the other two starters in a way that I personally enjoy.
I've never liked the fire starters (or for that matter, any fire pokémon at all). But that's my opinion, I don't ask you to believe it.
 
Chimcar has an advantage, and probably is the coolest starterfor pearl and diamond
