The sun had nearly disappeared entirely into the ocean, now an eerie shade of black blue due to the rapidly dimming light, as Kelly left the Oceanic Museum, which was nearing its closing time. Her Buizel was in its Pokeball, for the Professor had suggested that a Pokemon stay in its Pokeball when in the city, though it was, as many things were, optional, and nothing more than a suggestion. She squinted in the pinkish glow out at the ocean. The waves continued to pound gently against the shores, appearing darker now, but still touched with a sliver of gold where the last rays of sunlight danced off the crystalline water. She knew her destination, though truthfully, she felt that she would likely need aid in getting there. Her gaze swept across her surroundings, falling on an Information Booth.
"Aha!" Kelly exclaimed, running to the booth, where a bored looking man was sitting. "I need a map please." She said smoothly. The man's eyes surveyed the speaker, a rather surprised look on his face. It was clear that he didn't expect anyone to come to the booth at this time.
"Which kind?" He asked, gesturing to the row of maps behind him.
"Er...a map of the Hoenn Region?" Kelly answered his question hesitantly. The man turned and reached for a map at the right side of the rack, handing it to Kelly, who accepted the map.
"That'll be 50 yen." He said, his voice bored and uninterested, as if this had become all too routine for him. Kelly nodded, reaching into her Pocket and pulling out the money she kept in there, counting out the desired amount, and handing it to the man, who took it and stowed it away in a container, the expression on his face never changing. Kelly took the map and walked quickly away, glad to be away from the Information Booth.

"Ugh," Kelly said, as she walked quickly past a dock. The entire area here smelled strongly of fish, something she preferred dead and served on a plate in lemon juice as opposed to lying limply in enormous nets in the ships. She spied several sailors laughing ahead of her and quickened her pace, making her way around them. She'd be out of this area soon, in fact, she'd be out of Slateport, and on her way to…Mauville, she believed, yes, it was Mauville.

The air on the route was crisp and cool, and smelled of earth with a defined scent of damp leaves and grass. It was so unlike the, though sometimes only slightly, fish tinged scent of Slateport City that she couldn't quite believe that she had just left Slateport City. Unsure of what she was to do, save for follow the route, which would likely take her to Mauville, or it should.
"Buizel, come on out!" Kelly said, taking out a Pokeball, feeling that she would prefer to have company at the moment. A weasel like Pokémon appeared, stretching its neck upward and blinking.
"Hey there Buizel, come on, let's keep on going," Kelly suggested, gesturing to the area in front of them. However, it became apparent that Buizel was the one who preferred to lead. In an instant, he had scurried in front and begun walking. Kelly followed, careful not to lose sight of her Pokémon, when she heard a cry from Buizel.
"Bui buizel bui!"
"What is it?" Kelly cried, alarmed, as she bounded forward. A Pokémon resembling a teddy bear stood in front of Buizel, its head cocked to one side as it surveyed this strange Pokémon, an expression of curiosity on its face.
"Awww!" Kelly sighed, it was obviously one of the cutest Pokémon she had ever seen, though she was unsure of its name. As she pondered this, trying to remember if she had seen this Pokémon somewhere before, perhaps back at home, her PokeTech sprang to life.
Teddiursa
The Little Bear Pokémon
The PokeTech recited in a cool, mechanical voice, which was flat and emotionless, though that was to be expected of a mechanical device such as the PokeTech.
If it finds honey, its cresent mark glows. It allows its paws to be soaked with honey so that it can lick them all the time, and it also makes its own honey by blending fruits and pollen collected by Beedrill. They also have a habit of hoarding food in many hidden locations before food becomes scarce during the wintertime.
Surely enough, the Teddiursa lifted a paw to its mouth and drew its tongue across it as the PokeTech ended its recitation.
"Its adorable!" Kelly commented, though at that Buizel gave her a strange look, as if he believed she were truly crazy, it seemed that he didn't care much for the Teddiursa. "And I'm going to catch it, come on Buizel!"
