Update 35 - New Cities

This city needs culture to avoid being pressured by the culture of neighboring cities.

One of those Settlers I built is ready to be sent to its destination, which is that tiny little piece of land that primarily serves to force Napoleon to have to build boats in order to try to finish me off.

Gotta spread all the religions I control some more...

... so I can support all the military units I'm building.

ARE THEY MAD?! NEVER!

Now to send this missionary to do what I built it to do.

And then we shall take the final steps to build this city here.

And then we'll spread Judaism here.

Of course we're the most cultured. Everyone else is barbarians.

Got to love having the most culture, so you can sneer at those uncultured boors. And Longbowmen are the best, especially when you're the first to gain access to them.

Gotta love Elizabeth. By endgame, you're ROLLIN' in the dosh AND you get the friggen REDCOATS, which make you friggen awesome in late mid. Great for cultural victories, since you can Great Library/scientist rush the necessary techs and go straight for Redcoats after that, then concentrate on culture for pretty much the rest of the game.

I've never really been fond of playing as the English (I like to have culture generate without me having to invest too much money). Then again, I haven't really played as the English since I got the game 6 years ago.

OH LOOKIE ANOTHER LONGBOWMAN YAY.

Now we shall build ourselves Angor Wat since we could really use that production boost in all our cities.

And here, we have yet another missionary! Need that religion spread as far as possible for that income bonus!

And next on queue is still another Longbowman!

Oh, right, this thing. Gee, I wonder who I'll vote for?

And Bryansk is founded in 1410 AD! Now I have a city that Napoleon will actually have to build a ship to conquer!

Bryansk needs to build a Theater so it can capture some more land tiles to work from Gandhi.

St. Petersburg is just being used as a Longbowmen factory, since my other cities can't produce as fast as it can.

Yes! Yakutsk can now spread its influence faster!

So we'll build a Theatre here to amplify the volume of the city's culture.

And now we have another city that shall be churning out the Longbowmen.

What?! Smolensk built a Theatre before it built a Monument?! Blasphemy! We must rectify this at once!

And our first order of business this update is to spread Judaism further.

Fortunately, that succeeded, and we don't need another missionary built to try again.

Napoleon, I don't know if I like this deal... and I see you've been very busy making more enemies.

This is what he's offering...

... and this is what he wants. Offering an economic tech for a religious one.

I'll take it, though. It should keep you from going to war with me for at least 10 more turns. And it'll give me more economic options for my coastal cities.

I'm going to churn out a Missionary for economic reasons instead of yet another Longbowman.

I dunno, the sucky thing I've learned is that you have to suck up to the Aggressive civs unless you have overwhelming military strength since they always sacrifice economy for military which puts things at a disadvantage. xD

Or, you could, y'know, have both a power economy and a power military. Because it takes the latter to support the former and still have decent science output.

And with Tver founded, I have too many cities to defend... but don't tell Napoleon that.

And of course our first order of business in this city is to build a Theatre to spread that culture!

I think it's time to mix things up and build a Crossbowman instead of yet another Longbowman.

Now we'll give it a fairly safe economy! Though do I want to build a Grocer...

Okay, I was totally not expect St. Petersburg to not have a Theatre yet.

But I need to take advantage of its robust economy first and get a Grocer established here.

I know exactly when the next flareup will be... I just have 12 more updates including the one below in this post before I get there and can start playing this save file again.

We shall build a city here where this unit stands! And Gandhi is apparently spy-bombing me again.

And in this new city of Novosibirsk, we shall start things off by building a Theatre! The defensive unit for the city is on its way, so we've already got that covered.

Not terribly much I can do about that at the moment, other than to ramp things up, which you'll see within the next month or so, ideally, once I get caught up on updates and get back to playing this save game (I'm only posting one update per post so as to not murder people's modems, mind).

Update 44 - At Least Somebody Doesn't Take Me for a Fool

Now this is the kind of deal I like to see!

We still don't like you for gaining up on us with Napoleon in the Apostolic Palace votes. We could be better friends if you stopped doing that.

Yes! Now it's time to build the University of Sankore and hope we get it first!

Now we shall research the Printing Press in order to boost our economy.

I'm not sure what Yakutsk just finished building, but let us build a Harbor, people of Yakutsk!

And Yaroslavl is back to producing military units for us! This time it's the initimidating Maceman!

This Missionary will be sent to Bryansk so it can have its culture spread faster!

Oh snap, son! That Grocer was like an economic stimulus for our economy all by itself! Tax revenue increased by 11 whole gold per turn!

To celebrate, St. Petersburg shall build a unit of Knights!

And to wrap things up for this update, we shall be spreading Judaism to Novobirsk.
