Cloning: Your opinions on it.

Some people clone pokes, and its not considered hacking.

What are your thoughts on it? Are you okay with it, or do you dislike it?

My thoughts:

I think it's okay for event legendaries, as some can't get them otherwise (I just got an event Jirachi, Japanese version with Draco Meteor).

However, for everything else, I am unsure. I understand why one would clone shinies, but then it takes away the "rarity" part and the fact that one didnt actually find it.

As far as all others..meh, it kind of takes away the effort.

You can clone without an AR :P

I don't really see what the big deal is, it's not some unforgivable action. It's just making a copy of a Pokémon. If somebody went through the trouble of EV training/breeding something, they can clone it to trade with other people and so they can keep the original.

I clone my Pokémon when they're babies to back them up on my Diamond cartridge. Even though I've never had a save battery fail on me, I am extremely paranoid of it. :|

I don't refuse to take them. I just made this thread because, to me, it seems like the effort is lost.

Obviously, like I said in the OP, events are exceptions, and even shinies - but I'll always treasure my Absol shiny that I got randomly from breeding over cloned ones, even though i'll happily trade for them :D.

i wasnt referring to anyone here, i just remember a thread of a guy that said he wanted a shiny flygon, not hacked or cloned.

Am I the only one who really doesn't like the idea of cloning? You're still breaking the 'rules' of the game and, as said above, it reduces the rarity and 'special-ness' about the shiny/bred/EV'ed Pokémon in question

plus events (damn to the dephs whoever the dumbass was who thought of them) are extremely hard to ge& i think everyone should be able to play the game to its fullest without bein hindered cuz sum dumbass thought "oh lets be mean and make half the crap unobtainable except threw events"

i almost always go the event, i missed the last 3 sadly :(

but i clone my events,so people who missed it get them
and if i get an event i missed (mew,jirachi,arceus,pika-pichu) voila ill clone it for others who missed it like i did ^_^

I'm pretty much okay with cloning. Most of the Traders here do clone, and their willing to give you a copy back of your Pokémon if you'd nicely ask. You could clone using the AR (Which is available almost anywhere -.-) or the GTS, but only on the early releases of the Game (Cartridges that don't have black/gray numbers and letters on it's back).

I mostly clone my IV Breeds. It takes me too much effort, so I wouldn't want to give my only copy of it :/

Cloning is just making a copy of the Pokemon. I don't think it's bad. I wish I knew how to do it myself.

I think hacking is bad, nothing angers me more than hacking.

But hacking and cloning isn't the same thing.

It helps when trading over wifi for sure, that and its very useful for having an army of shiny adamant ditto.

Its probably the best glitch in the pokemon games, that has been here sense G/S(?)
