The R/S Calc takes information you put in (eg. pokemon, gender, trainer data, ribbons, EV, PP, moves, level, exp,...) and makes a Hex code formatted for different cheat devices such as Action Replay, GameShark and CodeBreaker. Simply input the stats you want your pokemon to have, then click the 'generate' button. A code will appear on the right side of the screen. You can either type that in manually into the device, or click the 'create file' button (name might be different) and make the code into a file that you can open using the ARGBX program or the GameShark equivilent.
Note that you need to choose the Box and Slot that you want the pokemon to appear in. Make sure that that slot is empty, else the existing pokemon will be deleted. Also, as long as the code is on, moving the pokemon out of the slot it was spawned in will result in a copy being made. To avoid this, make sure to turn the device off before moving the pokemon. Also (again) you probably don't know your 'Secret ID'. If the Secret ID of the pokemon and that of the game don't match, then the pokemon won't be considered 'yours' and thus you can't change its name. Also (3X) The PokeDEX won't be updated with the pokemon cheat. You need to generate a PokeDEX cheat or spawn the pokemon in one cart and trade to the cart you want them in.

Make sure that you have the export settings correct in the calc. you probably want PAR v.3 or GSA. If you're typing the codes into the GBA, make sure you only type 8 characters at a time. If you have the PC software, generate a codesave, then load it into the software and export it to the GBA over USB. I might be able to give more detailed instructions if I knew more details about your set up.

Would appreciate some help
I have never before played or used a ROM, but I'm anxiously awaiting FR/LG since Ru/Sa weren't really my thing (don't care for many of the new pokemon).
What I had hoped to do is play through Ru/Sa on a ROM with a team of old pokemon from the original 150, specifically squirtle, nidoran (female), pidgey, jolteon, ponyta and bellsprout. I downloaded Ruby for VGBA and I've been messing around with the cheat menu, and looking up tutorials on how to work it but I can't quite figure it out. :(
Guess it doesn't help that I'm not that bright with stuff like this even if it is my first time. Unless it's too much trouble could someone give me a step-by-step run-down of what I need to be doing, as well as the codes for those six pokemon? I'm not sure if I need to specify this with how little of it I know, but I'd prefer all the pokemon to be in their first evolutionary state (save for jolteon) as I'm only wanting to play through with my old Red/Blue dream team. Thanks in advance.

If you add two more variables behind the last two digits, then it will become the Codebreaker, I think... I'm still confused. But, to the point, I don't know what this format is.
