Well, XP is more popular and user friendly that Vista. Why? Heck, I still don't know.
 
It's mostly hated due to being a memory hog. It uses a lot of memory, which slows your computer down. I don't hate it as much as most people do, but it's definitely not that great. Windows 7 is so much better.
 
From the screenshots that you've shown, Nica, you are running Windows XP, just like Mario said.

See that green start menu? Unless you have made it look like XP, that shows that you are running XP. (Unless you have changed computers since that screenshot was taken.)

She probably just uses a Vista theme. I've seen the screenshots, so I know what you're talking about. The Vista theme actually does look nice.
 
WLM is kinda.. in ClearType, so one reason why I hate it :3
 
WLM also looks fine in ClearType. I don't really see why you hate it so much.
 
You probably hate it because you hate having to get used to something different.
