I'm new to competitive battling an decided I'm going to give it a try this gen. I know about EV's and all that, I just need some suggestions and EV spreads for a team to build around an offensive mega Charizard Y. Any suggestions are appreciated, thanks.

uh just a simple tip, run a defogger or spinner so that charizard y wouldnt be stripped of 50% of its health if it switches in into stealth rocks

popular offensive defoggers and rapid spinners would be latios and excadrill

Alright I think I'll have an excadrill for that

Since you're using Charizard and Excadrill, you're gonna need something that's anti-water. A few good ones are Rotom-W, Vaporeon, Gastrodon, and specially defensive Celebi.

    -Rotom Wash w/Chesto Berry
    Nature: Bold
    Ability: Levitate
    EVs: 252 HP, 252 Defense, 4 Sp.Attack
Moves: Hydro Pump, Rest, Will-o-Wisp, Volt Switch/Thunderbolt

    or

    -Rotom Wash w/Leftovers
    Nature: Calm
    Ability: Levitate
    EVs: 252 HP, 28 Sp.Attack, 232 Sp.Defense
Moves: Hydro Pump, Thunder Wave/Will-o-Wisp, Volt Switch/Thunderbolt, Pain Split

    -Vaporeon w/Lum Berry or Leftovers
    Nature: Bold
    Ability: Water Absorb
    EVs: 252 HP, 248 Defense, 8 Sp.Defense
Moves: Scald, Wish, Protect, Toxic/Ice Beam

    -Gastrodon w/Leftovers
    Nature: Relaxed/Sassy
    Ability: Storm Drain
    EVs: 252 HP, 252 Defense, 4 Sp.Defense
Moves: Scald, Recover, Earthquake/Earth Power, Toxic/Ice Beam

    -Celebi w/Leftovers
    Nature: Calm
    Ability: Natural Cure
    EVs: 252 HP, 232 Sp.Defense, 20 Speed
    Moves: Giga Drain/Psychic, U-Turn, Recover, Thunder Wave/Perish Song/Stealth Rock

And if you need sets for Mega Zard Y and Excadrill:

    -Mega Charizard Y w/ Charizardite Y
    Nature: Modest/Timid
    Ability: Drought
    EVs: 252 Sp.Attack, 252 Speed, 4 Defense
Moves: Flamethrower/Fire Blast, Solar Beam, Dragon Pulse, Focus Blast/Air Slash

    -Excadrill w/Air Balloon
    Nature: Adamant/Jolly
    Ability: Mold Breaker
    EVs: 252 Attack, 252 Speed, 4 HP
Moves: Earthquake, Rapid Spin, Swords Dance, Rock Slide/Shadow Claw

    or

    -Excadrill w/Assualt Vest
    Nature: Adamant
    Ability: Mold Breaker
    EVs: 176 HP, 52 Attack, 80 Defense, 202 Sp.Defense
Moves: Rapid Spin, Earthquake, Swrods Dance, Rock Slide/Shadow Claw

I think I'll go with the So Defense Rotom-W. Would you have any recommendations for a physical wall? Or is a special wall all I'll need?

You'll probably wanna run a physical wall as well. Several good ones exist:

    -Skarmory w/Leftovers
    Nature: Impish
    Ability: Sturdy
    EVs: 252 HP, 252 Defense, 4 Attack
Moves: Brave Bird, Roost, Whirlwind, Spikes

    -Trevenant w/Sitrus Berry
    Nature: Impish/Adamant
    Ability: Harvest
    EVs: 252 HP, 240 Defense, 18 Speed
Moves: Leech Seed, Will-o-Wisp, Protect/Substitute, Shadow Claw

    -Gourgeist (Super Size) w/Leftovers
    Nature: Impish
    Ability: Frisk
    EVs: 252 HP, 252 Defense, 4 Sp.Defense
Moves: Shadow Sneak, Leech Seed, Will-o-Wisp, Seed Bomb

There's a few more, but I'm not sure if they'd fit well on your team so far.

Physically defensive Wash Rotom is preferred because of Talonflame running around. Note that its Water STAB may be weakened because of Charizard Y's Drought:
    -Volt Switch
    -Hydro Pump
    -Will-o-Wisp
    -Pain Split/Rest
    Nature: Bold
    EVs: 248 HP/216 Def/44 Spe
    Item: Leftovers/Chesto Berry

Roost is a possible option for Charizard Y since it can heal itself from damage in battle (particularly from Stealth Rock) with it:
    -Fire Blast
    -Solar Beam
    -Dragon Pulse/Focus Blast
    -Earthquake/Roost
    Nature: Hasty/Mild/Modest/Timid
    EVs: 4 Atk/252 SAtk/252 Spe
    Item: Charizardite Y

Excadrill now has the option to use Iron Head as a secondary STAB move:
    -Earthquake
    -Iron Head/Rock Slide
    -Rapid Spin
    -Swords Dance/Stealth Rock
    Nature: Jolly
    EVs: 4 HP/252 Atk/252 Spe
    Item: Air Balloon/Chople Berry
    Ability: Mold Breaker

    or
    -Earthquake
    -Iron Head
    -Rock Slide/Shadow Claw/X-Scissor
    -Rapid Spin
    Nature: Jolly
    EVs: 4 HP/252 Atk/252 Spe
    Item: Choice Scarf
    Ability: Mold Breaker

    or
    -Earthquake
    -Iron Head
    -Rock Slide/Shadow Claw
    -Rapid Spin
    Nature: Adamant
    EVs: 248 HP/136 Atk/24 SDef/100 Spe
    Item: Assault Vest
    Ability: Mold Breaker

Trevenant uses 76 Speed EVs to outspeed Tyranitar and Scizor so that it can burn them before they can do anything. Also, here are better sets; one in particular can go specially defensive to better handle Starmie and Mega Blastoise:
    -Horn Leech/Wood Hammer
    -Earthquake/Rock Slide
    -Will-o-Wisp
    -Rest
    Nature: Impish
    EVs: 252 HP/180 Def/76 Spe
    Item: Leftovers/Lum Berry
    Ability: Natural Cure/Harvest

    or
    -Horn Leech
    -Shadow Claw/Leech Seed
    -Will-o-Wisp
    -Protect
    Nature: Careful
    EVs: 244 HP/16 Def/248 SDef
    Item: Sitrus Berry
    Ability: Harvest

    or
    -Substitute
    -Leech Seed
    -Will-o-Wisp
    -Phantom Force
    Nature: Impish
    EVs: 252 HP/180 Def/76 Spe
    Item: Sitrus Berry
    Ability: Harvest

Have to agree with pirouette; Latias definitely makes a good Defog user. Here's a moveset for it:

    Latias @ Leftovers
    Ability: Levitate
    Nature: Timid
    4 HP / 252 SAtk / 252 Spe
    - Draco Meteor
    - Surf
    - Thunderbolt
    - Defog

If you like, you may try Crobat as well:

    Crobat @ Black Sludge
    Ability: Infiltrator
    Nature: Jolly
    176 HP / 192 Atk / 4 SDef / 136 Spe
    - Defog
    - Taunt
    - Brave Bird
    - U-Turn

Alright thanks so far I'll be using.
    Charizard w/Charizardite Y
    Timid/Modest nature
    Drought
252 Speed, 252 Sp Atk, and 4 Atk
    -Fire Blast
    -Focus Blast
    -Dragon Pulse
    -Solarbeam

    Excadrill w/assault vest
    Adamant Nature
    Mold Breaker
    248 HP, 136 Atk, 24 SPDef, and 100 speed
    -Earthquake
-Iron Head (if I find my black 2)/Poison Jab for fairies
    -Rapid Spin
    -Rock Slide

    Trevenant w/Sitrus Berry
    Impish Nature
    Harvest
    252 HP, 180 Def, 76 Speed
    -Will-O Wisp
    -Leech Seed
    -Wood Hammer
    -Earthquake

    Rotom-W w/Leftovers
    Calm Nature
    Levitate
252 HP, 28 SP Atk, 232 SP Defense
    -Hydro Pump
    -Thunder Wave
    -Thunderbolt
    -Pain Split

For your Charizard i would put the 4 EVs into HP instead of Attack. Although this is a minor suggestion those 4 EV's are better utilized in HP.

I kinda like Volt Switch over T-Wave on your Rotom-W, and Horn Leech over Wood Hammer on Trev (i believe it gets that move)

Also, for your fifth & sixth slot on the team you could try Skarmory and Togekiss.

    Skarmory
    Impish
    252 HP/252 Def/4 Speed
    Lum berry/leftovers
    Brave bird
    Whirlwind
    Spikes
    Roost

Skarm can be your main phaser and really shines as a defensive tank.

    Togekiss
    Kings Rock
    Bold
    252 HP/252 Def/4 Sp.Def

    Thunder Wave
    Dazzling Gleam
    Air Slash
    Roost

I normally dont suggest Kings Rock on Pokemon but para-flinch Togekiss is nothing to laugh at. You can easily cripple the opposing pokemon and take them out with air slash as they have a slim chance of hitting back.

Alright thanks, I was actually thinking of a togekiss so I can handle dragon types. And if I get skarmory should I use him to start off because he has more of a set up move set?
