    Following the confusion yesterday Satoru Iwata has confirmed that the games are full scale remakes.

    "Following its reveal yesterday, there has been some question as to the actual content of Pokémon Omega Ruby & Alpha Sapphire, as to whether they're remakes or new versions due to the wording of the announcement. During the Investor Briefing today, Satoru Iwata confirmed that Pokémon Omega Ruby & Pokémon Alpha Sapphire are full-remakes of the 2002 releases, Pokémon Ruby & Sapphire. We'll bring more on these games as it comes"​

    I guess that clears up that's being talked about in some of the other threads.

    I'm actually kind of excited that they're just remakes. xD;
     
    This is the best possible news, I was concerned that these games may take place in a new Region removing Hoenn from center stage. IMO this is the best possible result and I can't wait for the next few months.
     
    I'm more than thrilled for this news too. I was worried for a bit that they would change everything and forget about how Hoenn originally was. It's been long enough that just a remake is a good enough breath of fresh air. ^^
     
    I like the fact they're straight-up remakes, it was exactly what I was picturing them to be. But they will have loads of the current mechanics added in to make it look fresh at the same time.
