Game Freak director Junichi Masuda has updated his blog with an unexpected announcement. Pokémon Black and White Versions will only feature Generation V Pokémon up until the player acquires the National Pokédex. In the update, Masuda said that his intention was to give players both new and veteran an equally new experience, akin to Pokémon Red and Green/Blue Versions back in Generation I.
This same line of thought seems to have been used when the decision was made to reset the route numbers back from route one, and placing Isshu in a remote location from the rest of the Pokémon world. It remains to see what, if any, non-standard features from the established Pokémon world will be included in Pokémon Black and White.

    Here it is: https://bulbanews.bulbagarden.net/w...o_feature_only_Gen_V_Pokémon_pre-National_Dex

Fortunately, there won't be anymore Zubat, Tentacool, etc. before the E4.

Unfortunately, no more Pikachu before the E4, either. :(

THANK GOD! I was wondering when they'd quit the trend of Magikarp, Abra, Geodude, and company. It will offer a new spin on things, different Pokemon for animal bases we've seen before, with unique types and movepools.

I agree with Junichi on this one; It will definitely have the Red/Blue feel, because everything is brand new. ^_^

I was, too. I expected the usual zubat, though the new bat Pokemon had me thinking that the old ones might be replaced. Absence of Pikachu is just as surprising.

I thought we already had a thread for this?
Well... Not really... That thread was for speculation about which old Pokémon may be included in B&W. This thread is to announce the confirmation that there won't be any. :)

Now I'm really excited about the games, knowing there won't be anything I'd recognize from Gen 4 and before. It really does add to the gameplay.

O_O really? Like the thing that's supposed to be leaking at this very moment?
XD Good thing seeing things about a game doesn't spoil it for me.

Yeah that document which is expected to leak late this week or early next week :)

Nope, Red and Blue were. ^_^ This game's complete cutoff is quite similar, though.
Other regions later on may have included some of the RBY Pokemon, but Red and Blue were the first games.

Sweet! We get to experience a whole new bach of Pokemon =)
I wonder how many of the new Pokemon that are coming out will be able to be useful in competitive battling...

I think quite a few... I'm pretty sure they'll have some new type combinations, and more than Sinnoh gave us.

So far you can add the starters and legendaries to your list, because they always have higher base stats in-game ^_^

Why? That takes away the fun of a totally new, extremely different and foregn region. I like how this game has a total element of surprise, yet it seems that old friends from the RSE games may be getting new evolutions. So it's sort of like Sinnoh in that way.

I would of loved if they at least added a few sinnoh pokemon to it.
Even though I dont really like sinnoh i hope we get some cool old pokemon added. Its not right that people are being forced to play through the game with pokemon they dont even like. Theres no point in getting them once the games over since theres nothing to do but wifi. I want them to be on my team not just to fill up the "new" pokedex.
