I'm sure if you've been following the news on Pokemon sun and moon, then you know about Z-Moves. A special way of attacking with Pokemon. They have special animations which are different for each type. You know what that reminds me of? Contests! If you've played through ORAS, You'll know what I'm talking about.

For those who don't know, Pokemon contests are a side thing you can do in Pokemon Ruby,Sapphire,Emerald and ORAS(According to my knowledge) In these you compete for the audience's attention by doing different moves. Each move is it's own type, such as:"Cool,Cute,Tough and Smart." If you get the audience Hyped enough and fill in the star bar, You'll do a Special move with a special animation Which gives you tons of Points.

Sound familiar? It should, because Z-moves are very similar. They perform a special move with a special animation that does a lot of damage. Obviously the moves are going to be different, However I think Nintendo would at least use some animations which are already used in contests.

Who knows, I might just be overlooking it.

I don't think the contests and Z-Moves are related, since Z-Moves are obviously using different animations than the contest animations, the latter of which didn't involve attacking something (the Fighting-type contest animation did involve punching down a tree, but that doesn't count) and we haven't had any hints to what the sidequest of Alola will be, since contests have been absent outside of Hoenn and Sinnoh.

You're right. I probably overlooked it.
That is why there called theories , they aren't always true.
It still might have been a hint to Z-moves though. Hey, who knows their not inspired by them?

But that's just a theory, a game thoery

Maybe they took inspiration from those Contests attacks to create some Z-moves! But I don't think they'll use those attack animations for ther Z-moves! Especially because those attack animations are for aesthetic purposes... It's about getting attention of the audience, while Z-moves are meant to be a super powerful attack that might OHKO your opponent XD

This is an interesting thought, but I don't think we'll get contests in Alola unfortunately. It would be pretty cool to have contests with Z-moves in though cause their animations look amazing but I feel like Raichu would win every time cause of its amazing special move ;)

What do you mean? :o Alola would be the perfect place to have some Luau-esque contests!! ...As questionably likely as that is, it seems plausible enough! ^__^

Yeah I'd love to have contests in Alola but I just get the feeling we won't get them :( I mean we haven't seen them in a new region since Sinnoh but hey you never know :)
