I dont know about you lot...lol...but in the next generation of pokemon id like the pokemon contests more like they are on tv.
Example: any types can enter any contest
In the appele round (sorry for spelling...lol...) you select 2 moves and put them together.
Then in the battle round it will be a tournament...lol...till the finale.
There are 5 contest stadiums in 5 locations and each contest will be held on a specific day eg Monday.
Then when you have collected 5 ribbons you can go to the grand festival and the rules will basically be the same then the contest ones...lol...
In some contests you have to use 2 pokemon and use one move from them each in the appele round.
Ah me hand is hurting now from all that typing but what do you think of me idea should i add something? is it to complicated? i know i missed some things out but i only wanted to foucus on the main points...lol...

The game would have to take into account a large number of factors such as free-command dodging, counterattacking, and physics.

Too much work, if you ask me. :#

I'd never be able to work, though it would be awesome if it could.

I never liked this idea, though. It's going to be confusing to abide to the system that they use for Anime Contests. Dodging, combinations, etc are going to be hard to implant in the game. It comes down to battling though, and I honestly wouldn't want the Contests to be related to battling in any way. They should remain two separate things for two different activities. The Contests should be performance and appeal, while true battling can be true skill and strength.

It's probably never going to happen, and I really don't want it to happen anyways. o3o

As much as I would like it, it woud probably have to be ported onto a next-gen system, just because it wouldn't fit on a DS game. And then, we'd end up with a game just like stadium. except, instead of fight, fight, fight, its contest, contest, contest.

Contests in the games would be amazing if they were like the anime, like being able to make combinations. I know it's like that a little in RSE, but it was *very* limited, and you couldn't really see the comninations working together, just Hydro Pump + Rain = good, or something like that. But it would be extremly complicated to put it in the games...

I said it in another topic. Making them more like the anime would definitely have more appeal, but since that'd be so complicated it'd be so much better if they just gave you a handful of mini-games for you as a trainer/coordinator and your Pokemon could complete. Like maybe a race, obstacle course, anything really is better than an odd dress up routine and an extremely basic form of DDR.

I think the idea of making the games like the anime for contests sounds great...yeah it would be hard, but I like challenges!!

I personally think they should create a spin off game that follows a story of a up coming co-ordinator.

That way a brand new system for the contest could be invented

Cause right now, the contests in the games suck

I would love the anime version of contests installed into the games, that'd be incredible. Although it's not liking to happen, it's still be awesome anyway.

Good idea but it would never happen.
P.S. Why do you keep saying lol?

I like the way the contests currently are, I just hate it when you enter a contest and you get really tired and can't quit the contest to save.

I think it'd be a good idea as its own game, preferably for the Wii, since that one's likely to give you the most possibilities as to what you can do with your attacks.

Ex. 1// If you were to use a Marshtomp, you could hotkey Mud Shot to the "A" button, and use the Wiimote to aim it directly upwards. Then you could hotkey Whirlpool to the "B" button, and use it to catch the Mud Shot, and then use the Wiimote to throw the muddy Whirlpool downwards and create a colorful splash as a finish!

Ex. 2// If you had a Murkrow, you could thrust the Wiimote upward to have it fly up into the sky. Then you could hotkey Haze to the "A" button, and use the Wiimote to spread the Haze into your chosen direction. Then you could hotkey Shadow Ball to the "B" button, and aim it using the Wiimote. Then you could hotkey Sky Attack to the "1" button and use the Wiimote to aim at the Shadow Ball. Once you pierce through the Shadow Ball, your glowing body absorbing bits of it in the process, the rest of it repelling away the Haze, you can then pull the Wiimote back to stop your flight in mid-air and brush it all off, revealing your Murkrow in the midst of a cosmic array of light and darkness!

Now tell me that wouldn't be awesome!

Oo yeah I like what people have been saying about a spin-off contest game, but I definitely think contests should stay in the main pokemon game because it's a way of never being done, which is cool. Even though I like battling more than contests usually, I think mixing battling into the contests wouldn't be a good idea. I think it was done like that in the anime so as to not make people get bored when they do long runs of contests, but in the game you'd have to take level into account. Levels as numbers are usually ignored by the show so they can get away with it.

Honestly, I couldn't care less what happens to contests...

I guess anything is an improvement though, I hated the D/P contests

    I see this happening:

"...and a special feature with these new games is only available to owners of a DSi! Both the Pokemon (name) and (name) Deluxe Pack versions come with the bonus Pokemon Contest DS card. To use it, simply copy your save data from Pokemon Diamond, Pearl, Platinum, (name) and/or (name) onto your SD card, and you can raise your Pokemon like a coordinator!..."

I just hope they can do something better than the D/P/P contests. The removal of move combos like Sunny Day/Fire-move really killed the performance round. And contest battles is must.

    lol.xD.ROFLOL. Good one!

Well, I see it a bit unfair; still, it is a really good idea. You really need to dodge the attacks your adversary throws upon you and what if... in the second round... Yeah, I agree with DonRoyale... a lot of work...

I always wished they would input contest battles but i dont know how that would work.

That'd be interesting,i always thought to make it like that^^"
Alot of fans of contests would probably get it,so Nintendo/Gamefreak would make a profit^.~
