4th Gen CoroCoro Scans (May 13th) / Famitsu scans (May 14th) - discussion

Having the Pichu as a side event will be fun. I'm hoping the adventure with that will be pretty epic. If they make the Pikachu Colored Pichu capturable, then all the better.
 
A Pichu side event would be pretty cool. These news are going to be bringing up many new theories.
 
The pichu side event though is only if you have the pichu from the movie. And anyway that forest changed big time. You can tell its not the same. Also no headbutt trees. Oh well. I just want to see how big hat over there is going to look in Dppt format.

Dont forget The notched ear Pichu,It will be more and more better imagine if it evolves,Or could it?
 
The girl sprite, they still haven't shown it as yet, so I too am wondering how she'll look. I'm hoping to see scans in the midst of a wild or trainer battle soon, so we'll see if they change anything with that.

The Pichu event might be available for the remake in the US once the 12th movie is out and they hold it as an event most likely.

EDIT: ^In the scan it is hard to tell if it was the Notch Eared Pichu or not, but we'll see over time.
 
My first response to the new female character was "What the heck? Who's she?"

But I agree, it does make sense when you think about it. The original Gold and Silver games did not have a female character. While it seems somewhat appropriate at first to take the female character from Crystal, it also seems unfitting in a way, because this is a remake of Gold/Silver, not of Crystal. The character Crystal did not exist in the original Gold/Silver, so it isn't fitting to include her in the remakes.

Yeah, I was a bit turned off at first at the introduction of a totally new character, but I think I actually like the new female character they've made. I'm just glad that there actually will be a female player character in this game - I was kind of afraid they'd make this a true remake and only allow you to play as a male character.

I think I'll like having her/him as a support character, because that means all of Elm's starters get their own trainers. I'm assuming that in the case of my own game file, Silver would have Totodile, Gold would have Chikorita, and the unnamed female character (who'd I'd be playing as) would have Cyndaquil. It'll be interesting to see what default names they give these characters in the English releases...
 
If you look really closely, in the image underneath Wobbuffet, looks like it's Croconaw's sprite and not Totodile following him (could be wrong.) But if so, I'm hoping you do have the option of having them follow you around. Some places it would be fun, others...kind of obnoxious.

Still, awesome pics! Thanks for posting these. I'm psyched to be the new Gold dude ;)
 
She's not replacing Crystal, because it's not a Crystal remake. It's a Gold and Silver remake. (They didn't have a girl in GS.) I actually like her outfit. It's something new, and it's not a skirt. (It reminds me of Italy for some reason like DPP clothes reminded me of France. At first I didn't like Dawn's outfit, but then I liked it better in the sprite. Hopefully the sprite of this new girl looks nicer than the artwork.) Besides, if you don't like this new girl, then play as the boy trainer. I'm happy they made an attempt to create new character. I'm playing as the girl character.

Making attemps to do something is sometimes great, and sometimes disappointing, but to me I see them trying something new, which isn't bad at all. They've added a lot of great new imporvements to the game, and I for one am certainly happy they waiting to remake this game for the DS w/ some DSi features we might see, rather than for the GB Advance SP...It gives the game a lot more variety after watching these new scans.

Like I stated before and other stated after...They might have chosen to add in a new female character over Crystal because :

- In the original, there was no female, and Crystal came after in Crystal Version. Therefore, to keep it close to the original GS instead of adding some girl who came after, they could have added a new original female character to go with it. It makes sense, seeing as Crystal originiated in Crystal Version and not GS.

Well technically she is the 3rd female to do so. First is Crys then Saph then Soul(?). And I love how its overalls of all things. She kinda looks like Mario.
 
What the...? Who's she? =O A Crystal replacement? Or a new girl to add since in the Original GS games, we only had the choice of a male character? For Arceus' sake, at least give Crystal some epic cameos in this game. Also, they better make the new girl one heck of an interesting character, too. Well, as long the remaining changes are minor, I'll enjoy this game like the first time I got my hands on Silver.

And speaking of which, one thing I expect to remain untouched is that red-haired epic kid (Giovanni's Kid, to be exact), Silver. Silver's personality and actions are what made him one of my favorite characters of all time, so if they ruin him by changing something that isn't his updated art in this game, we're having serious trouble, Nintendo!

Finally, I'll only say one thing about these new HGSS pics...

Yeah, I posted as soon as I saw the pictures, didn't see your post. And although it makes sense, it would have made just as much sense to have Crystal since she is that generation's female player, even if she didn't appear in G/S, she appeared in Crystal. Don't get me wrong though, I'm loving that they added a new character and she does look cool, it just seems random to me. And like someone else said, the style also reminds me of Italy compared to P/D/Dt's France-ish style, and it looks just as great.

Uh, Crystal is kind of an alternate timeline, if you get me. like diamond, pearl and platinum, it shows different facets or a retelling of the same story. So, Crystal does not come after G/S

Hero looks like Lucas in the face.

As for new girl, she could be Kris for all we know. Look at Red's design from Gen 1 and compare it to FR/LG. Barely any resemblence. Same with the art for the unused R/G/B heroine (Blue from the comic is based on the design) and her FR/LG art. Similar hair colour and that's it. Hey, it could be happening here, with the pigtails and all. Still, I miss the blue hair. =(
 
The first person view is a great touch and comeback for the game. I'm glad they did it, and I would like to see more of it sometimes.
 
Is that a Cyndaquil I see there? :D
