6th Gen Could that statue mean something...?

First, by statue, I mean this statue that was shown in the trailer:

Now, at first, I thought that it was just a regular ol' statue, nothing remotely interesting about it. But then, wouldn't you know, I saw some interesting speculations about it. Of course, this thread has been created specifically about it, because, I want to know what you think about it - do you think that this statue hold any special meaning, could it hint at something, or is it just a plain ol' statue?

Well, for interest sake, maybe to bounce some ideas, I want to bring you guys... just a quote collection of theories that I saw through out websites like smogon, ign, bulbagarden, and marriland; but they're pretty much the majority of others' speculations about this statue:

in the center there's some sort of stone statue. It's hard to see what the statue is, but it looks to contain stone depictions of Golurk, Palpitoad and perhaps Bisharp or a knight (or maybe a new monster from generation VI).

A new humanoid pokemon? Well, I can see that if they can somehow incopriate some sort of 'royalty' system, perhaps GF made some pokemon that represents a royal court? Well, there are already some king and queen pokemon (eg. Nidoking and Nidoqueen) so another knight-like pokemon like bisharp? Then again.. it could just be a knight (which I'm sorta leaning towards).

I can possibly see Golurk or Palpitoad having a new evolution.

A possible new branch of evolution for these two?

There's also a trainer (gym leader) and an Eevee in the statue. Does that hint at a new Ground Eeveelution? There's already plenty of things pointing that way.

I find that kind of weird; I think that some people noticed how that "knight trainer" has a Golurk, Palpitoad, two ground pokemon, and then the Golurk is holding an Eevee. I guess it's sort of a "what doesn't belong" feel to this, because it's kind of weird how there is two ground pokemon, and then just a normal-type Eevee. Plus, well... I guess the statue is a brown color, so could the grouping of the 'ground' theme there hint an ground-type Eeveelution?

The Golurk statue also has a Palpitoad below it, which is making me think that it's a ground-type gym. Although it's kind of odd to see a statue of "supposedly" gym leader and his/her pokes outside of his/her gym...

A possible ground-type gym? Maybe the gym leader is highly respected in a way?

Also the presence of the Golurk statue (the other pre-6 mons could be just preview filler) lends the suggestion the main game will use mons from past gens. I did enjoy the magic of gen 6 and having a completely new region, but we also lost out on continuing evolutions of previous forms, but I guess we can't have it all.

That's possible; we saw Golurk at the trailer! Then again, we also saw a Charizard statue in BW, but Charizard, or Charmander for that matter was not available in the game.. D= But, previous gen. pokemon can be still be up in the air!

The whole thing with recurring characters is interesting to note, so let's sit in our handy dandy thinking chair and remember that earlier, people theorized that the statue was of N and his pokemon!

That's.. kind of a stretch! But was N a knight, or -is- he a knight? Then again, he was a king, soo I'm not so sure, but, it can be interesting to see!



Once again.. those were the majority of ideas and speculation that I saw around the web and irl that people had about this statue. So yeah, to re-literate the purpose of this thread, do you think this statue might be hinting at something about these games? Do you think this statue holds any meaning? Do any of these mentioned theories struck your interest? Or... do you think that this is just a regular statue just for decoration?

Having both Palpitoad and Golurk on the same statue could indicte that it symbolises a Gym leader who specialises in Ground, as for the Eevee that could either promt a ground eeveelution or just decoraton. Then again the statue itself could just be there for decoration purposes, surely it was going to represent a ground type Gym leader it would have a ground type pokemon that was introduced in the new generation rather than two Unova Pokemon.

I'd love to see a couple more Eeveelutions so if that's what is being implied then I'm all for it. It definitely seems like a Ground type Gym or at least a statue of a man known for his ground type pokemon and eevee?

Hmmm interesting theories guys! All this talk about ground types does make sense to a certain extent, their are two ground types on the statue. But, wouldn't it be weird to have a statue without any new ground types on it? Maybe that humanoid looking figure is a new Pokemon, but I doubt it. And then, look at the left of screen. There are two pillars with Drantini's on top of them. How do they fit in? I presume it's just a mansion and he has his favourite Pokemon on the statue. Just my guess though.

There are Dratini statues to our left of the big statue, so I don't think it means anything Type-Specific (aka hinting at a Ground-type Eevee evolution). There might be an in-game myth surrounding a Knight and his team of Pokémon, and perhaps the building is a museum, or even where he used to live. It's difficult to say at this point but it is very intriguing!

Not sure if anyone noticed this before, but it has been speculated around the internet that that particular building strikes an uncanny resemblance to the Élysée Palace, which houses the French Republic's very own president (take a look). If true, then that only pushes further proof that the region is based off of France and possibly other European countries as well.

I would rule out the possibility of the building being a Ground-type Gym Leader solely because of the Dratini statues that have been pointed out. We really have no idea what that statue might mean or what's held behind the castle walls, but I'm betting there's deep history there if anything. Maybe it's the champion of the region's home?

Completely forgot about the Dragon statues haha. I'm hoping too much for a new eeveelution but yea I definitely agree with the theory that the statue could just be a knight of legend and the large building is a major landmark.

I think it's soley for decorational purposes. We can almost completely rule out it being a Ground Type Gym looking at the two Drantini statues. However, it still could be a Gym, especially since we had a Charizard Statue in BW/B2W2 and the gym leader specialised in Ground Types. Just because there is a difference doesn't mean that it can't be a Gym! Nevertheless, I just think it's some sort of rich estate where a character of the plot lives with the statue being there merely for decoration.

The one thing that intriguies me though is, what is that dark ufo-like shadow above the mansion?

Perhaps the statue commemorates the B/W hero's accomplishments (Or N's) and X&Y takes place sometime after the events of Gen V.

Going off of that, perhaps we could see the first real government in the Pokémon world in this very building! That could really allow the statues to mean anything.



But now that I think about it, I hope all the Pokémon pictured will be obtainable in the regional PokéDex, ha ha!

I can't help feeling that this won't be a gym leader and that it will either just be some rich person with a big ego or some hero that's related to the region but not strictly related to the storyline.

It could even be a statue of the mansion owners ancestor.

This is most likely, interesting that they'd actually put a depiction of an actual human knight in a main series game though.

I think the statue in the trailer is more of a memorial statue of a knight that had an Eevee, Golurk and Palpitoad by his side that fought for the region's freedom or something.

Other than that, I don't think it shows anything new in regards to new Pokémon, there's been many games in the past that have had a statue that honor certain people with Pokémon.

That's what I think it really is, nothing really special, not anything about new Pokémon.

I'd just say it's celebrating some hero of the past that we probably won't even find out about, buuut Golurk is meant to be the guard Pokemon, so maybe he's just a spirit watching over the mansion! And the other Pokemon are just the... I have no clue about that. :(

But there's like two heroes. :( Well, four technically... so deciding on one would be strange given that there's technically more than one hero of Unova (it wouldn't be just B/W's imo given that there was a sequel for it tbh).

There's a palpitoad, a gollurk holding an eevee. And the human-like shape in front of those pokémon is probably their trainer. Doesn't look much like a bisharp, but definitely a warrior/knight. It's probably part of that place's history, I can't speculate much more about it xD

I believe history always repeats itself. Whatever that statue represents the protagonist will most likely undergo a similar adventure that resulted to that statue being built.....
