Counting the Hours

How many hours do you typically put into your Pokemon games? Do you put similar numbers of hours into each game? Do you ever max out the timer? Are you more of a "binge" player, or do you play steadily over time?

I've noticed that I seem to play even numbered generations more than odd numbered generations (with the exception of LeafGreen, at around 350 hours), and I tend to pick one game per generation to play a lot more than others. On whatever game I play first, I tend to put in several hundred hours and complete my Pokedex (450 on X, for example, and about the same on Diamond), while my playtime tapers off a bit after that (e.g., only have 40-50 hours on AS, a dozen or so on OR [though I just started that], and around 20-30ish between two copies of Y). I build up a lot of my hours in the first year (somewhat steadily, with binges over vacations), then tend to trail off a bit more over time. I've never maxed out a time (not even on RBY, as I used to back up my saves on my Mega Memory Card and restart a lot on those, so my timer never even reached 200 hours).

I play when I feel like it. My Crystal Bug Monotype has less hours than my Gold dex completion even though I only have four more Kanto badges to go in Crystal and I haven't cleared out the Mahogany Rocket Hideout yet in Gold. I think my Sapphire has the most hours clocked despite the fact that I play Alpha Sapphire more often.

I buy each copy of every game, and on my main game I usually max out the timer. So for XY, X is my main game. I will never restart that game. Y is the one I'll restart, so usually I get the timer to around 40 hours before I restart to play again.

ORAS/HGSS are exceptions. I never put a ton of hours into those games. Not sure why, I'm just not huge on remakes. I did put quite a few hours into FRLG back in the day though, probably around 100, but didn't max the timer out.

I tend to accumulate that time over a long period of time. On weekdays I usually don't have longer than 30 minutes to an hour to play each day. If my weekend is not busy I can accumulate a bit of hours then, but usually there's something going on.

Besides Colosseum which only goes to 99 hours, I did manage to max out Emerald at 999:59. This is, mostly because it's sat on for hours at a time while I'm doing other things, and because I've been working on completing the National Dex. Due to multitasking, most of my games are over 300 hours, though I think about %25 of the time on each (waaay more on Emerald) is just setting. The rest, actualy using them. xD

I've always been in the 100-150 range. Now that I'm getting better with breeding, those numbers are close to 200

I would say I've never gone farther 40 hours outside of one time which ws about 65-70 and some of that was just my game sitting on while I was doing other things. That game was Emerald and purely due to me trying to beat the Battle Frontier, I never had the patience though so I eventually quit each time. I just prefer to play the game and postgame and explore a little bit before finally restarting the game and repeating.

Usually a lot of time, OR has so far logged 200+ hours, Y was less so as that was just to play the game and complete the dex. SS had about 160 hours and white was probably the same, no idea on Yellow/Red/Blue but id imagine lots between them mostly on red which was where i completed my dex and ground my main team to 100.

It's usually around 100 and plus especially Pokemon Crystal. I'm doing lot of breeding, leveling and the E4 to farm money

I never thought of maxing out the timer tho

I think I had well over 800 hours in my Ruby game. Typically though I complete the main story anywhere from 10-20 hours, depending on the game.

I don't spend very much aside from the daily battles in ORAS and XY, so that be little by little after that I barely play daily as off now

I don't think I've ever maxed out the time but I'm too scared to look at my hours played. Although, in all fairness, I do leave my consoles on a lot. Terrible, I know.
