CT's Bright Shinging Team!

UU - SUNNY DAY TEAM!
-OVERVIEW-
So basically I played a sunny day team before, and it seemed alot of fun. And all of a sudden I have a sudden interest with Sunny Day. This team is completely editable, please make any suggestions for subsitutions of moves, EVs, Ability, or even the Pokemon them selves.

-THE TEAM-

Sunny Day Summoners

[PokeCommunity.com] CT's Bright Shinging Team!

Jumpluff@ Heat Rock
Ability : Chlorophyll
EV : 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 Spe
Nature : Jolly
  • Sleep Powder
  • Sunny Day
  • U-turn
  • Encore

I needed a starter that could jump in, lay down a SD, do a U-Turn and come back. So naturally I just looked for the fastest pokemon that had Chlorophyll, SD, and U-Turn. The cool thing about Jumpluff is that I can do all these things, and most of the time, put the opponent to sleep too. One of the minuses of Jumpluff is that he is unable to use Stealth Rock, a move that is great to have on any starter.

Arcanine@ Heat Rock
Ability : Intimidate
EV : 240 HP / 168 Def / 28 SpA / 72 Spe
Nature : Timid

  • Sunny Day
  • Flamethrower
  • HP [Ground]
  • Roar

This guy will do a good job of walling some physical threats with Intimidate factored in, and is simply a fast pokemon I can use to lay down a SD. Roar is a great move he can use to phaze the pokemon that set up. Flamethrower is my main offensive, and will hurt some typical switch-ins like Miltank. Overall, he is a descent wall to setup a SD, and the 50% boost on his fire attacks are cool too!

Sunny Day Sweepers
[PokeCommunity.com] CT's Bright Shinging Team!

Exeggutor@ Expert Belt
Ability : Chrolophyl
EV : 252 Atk / 16 SpA / 240 Spe
Nature : Naive

  • Swords Dance
  • Wood Hammer
  • Zen Headbutt
  • Hidden Power [FIRE]

This is my first sweeper, it comes in on water and ground attacks directed at Arcanine to resist those attacks. Expert Belt is a must because Wood Hammer + Life Orb would carve my life off too much. Its hard to set up Swords Dace, but if I manage it the setup would be quite scary. Wood Hammer has been destructive for me, resisted or not after one SD. Zen Headbutt helps me get flinch at times and handles fighting types, which is somewhat scary to my team when Magmortar is gone...

[PokeCommunity.com] CT's Bright Shinging Team!

Victreebell@ Life Orb
Ability : Chlorophyll
EV :120 HP, 252 Atk, 136 Spe
Nature : Adamant
  • Swords Dance
  • Leaf Blade
  • Sleep Powder
  • Sucker Punch

Victreebel got some pretty good moves in Platinum. Swords can double his already great Atk stat and Leaf Blade is a great physical Grass move. He has 420 Speed in the sun, which outspeeds Electrode, and even if there isn't sun, he still has Sucker Punch which does a lot with a Swords Dance if I can get it in. Sleep Powder can help me set up.

Quagsire@Leftovers
Ability : Water Absorb
EV : 252 HP / 96 Atk / 160 Def
Nature : Impish
  • Ice Punch
  • Earthquake
  • Toxic
  • Encore

Quagsire takes hits well with its good defense and HP, then strikes back when it crits or gets a super effective. I really needed the coverage of something that didn't get completely owned by a Rain Dance team (like recommended by every single person that commented on the thread). Dark_Azelf recommended an Ice Punch/EQ/Toxic/Encore moveset build, so far its working out well.

Late Game Sweeper

Magmortar@ Choice Specs
Ability : Flame Body
EV : 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Nature : Timid
  • Overheat
  • Thunderbolt
  • Focus Blast
  • Hidden Power Ice

Although Heatran is much easier to switch in and out, and significantly more defensive, Magmortar has some advantages in my team. Focus Blast, and Thunderbolt mean that Magmortar has a much easier time taking on some of the common switch-ins. Magmortar is also faster, making it easier to out run some opponents Heatran could not.

Format is nice but please tell us why the Pokemon are in the team and how they operate.

Arcanine should be Timid with 252 EV's as it lets him get the sun up fast without any Pokemon like Gyarados and Kingdra without a DD may be able to slaughter him with Waterfall even with your EV's and nature or at least havily damage him.

Calm is ridiculous on Milktank, it lowers her Atk. Careful or Impish at least.

omfg stick 2 gfx dood JUST KIDDING

SD Tropius is outclassed by SD Victreebel, which has higher Attack and Speed, despite lower defenses.

Faster waters cause problems for this team too, especially rain dance. Miltank's your only hope. :<

Thanks for the input. And yea Arcanine's stats are kinda screwy, I'll be sure to fix em. And yeah he will get owned, do you suggest a different Sunny Day summoner?

You are mean. Lawl. xD

I see what you mean regarding Tropius being outclassed. I'll definitely switch him out for Victreebel.

And yeah, is there like anyway you can make a SD team withought that happening.

Im glad Gyarados and Kingdra are UU lol XD
Again, is there like anyway to make a SD team without it being slaughtered by fast water pokemon?

I'll fix the calm thing. Any suggestions for a substitute? Otherwise try to be less rude.

I was being sarcastic since neither Gyarados or Kindra are uu and he mentioned them. =o

I guess you could shove in a Water Absorb such as Quagsire with Ice Punch/EQ/Toxic/Encore, it helps with the rain dance weak, probably >> Miltank..

Body Slam can go >> Toxic is you prefer paralysis support however.

Where are the tags? lol
Lapras may have better stats but it can easily be taken out by Kabutops and Lanturn which is left without a scratch from the boltbeam combo, both Pokémon are very common in Rain Dance teams.
Quagsire on the other hand doesn't have the same problems, it only has little trouble with Mantine if you don't have the move Stone Edge, it has great resistances and is only weak to grass so it fits in to the team perfectly.

Lapras gets slaughtered by Kabutops, so she doesn't stop Rain Dance teams. :[

Thanks for the help.

I'm officially changing Lapras to Quagsire in a second.

I'd make quagsire impish >> relaxed just because he has no special attacks so there's no need to sacrifice speed.
Make magmortar timid if your aiming for a sweep otherwise you run the risk of getting KO'd yourself.
