    Several questions.

    1 What are they for?
2 What does the bar under your name represent (kinda self-answering, but I'll leave it to the other people)
3 My bar went from several greens to two reds. Why is this?

    1) To determine "popularity" between members, although that in itself is a load of crap
    2) Your level of reputation
    3) Someone must have given you a lot of negative reputation, and because of that, you yourself have negative rep

    1) They are given if you do something good or bad on the board...sorta like a popularity meter to say that you are either helpfull, kind ext or...the opposite.

    2) Thats how much reputation/ popularity you have

    3) Someone has given you bad rep points. Green means good, Red means bad :/ You can view your rep points in the User CP.

Fine. I'll add the faq to my favorites list for quick access...but this stinks. I did ONE thing and I'm shot into the hole...

After viewing the FAQ, it mentions the black box. Now, is it possible for me to change the way I set rep. points, or is it up to the higher powers to do so? (I don't think this was covered there. If it is, then I really need to look harder.)

A more appropriate answer to the first question would be that, when you get a good rep, the person who gave that rep likes you, and vice versa for bad rep.

It's yet another popularity contest. -_-; Meh, I gave up after Bobby locked Lion Heart's thread.

If all it was ment to be was a pop. contest...then I'm surely losing it all...I'm not too popular in real life (and now here too...)

*Sigh* dude its not a popularity contest, they are just awarded to you if you do something good (like helping a PC member)...or taken away if you do something wrong (Spam) it is by far not a popularity contest, it doesnt change the fact that people like you or not, it just means you have done something right or wrong...the ones you have lost can easily be gained again by helping out and sticking to the rules ^_^

Anyways, the black box means your reputation is turned off so that you will not receive any good or bad points to your rep, to do this you do the following:

UserCP> Options> Show My Reputation Level (second option down) tick the box and your rep is turned off.

If you receive a black box in your rep from someone else it just means that it has had no effect on your reputation.

It seems like more popular people have more rep.

Hmm...seems like this is breaking from the original intention...which reminds me of one more question. Is it possible for someone to give themselves Rep. Points? Seems like some sort of loophole...

No, that's how it's supposed to work, but members abuse the system at will and the most action that has been taken so far is heightening the spread limit.

    It hides your rep. from public view, there's no way to stop people from giving you rep. <_<;

We were discussing what rep. points are used for, so it's on-topic.

And no, it isn't possible, unless you're giving rep to another account of yours.

Ty's right Strider. It's the same reason as to why it was turned off at SPP as well. Quite frankly, I don't see the point in rep... but that's for a different discussion.

IMO all it is about is popularity, reputation is the status you've got yourself somewhere, not little green, grey and red bars

I'd love for it to work that way as much as the next person, but sadly, it doesn't.

Each dark green block represents 100 rep points, each light green represents 200 rep points, and the most that can be displayed is 5 dark green and 6 light green for some odd reason. After that, to gauge someone's rep, hold your arrow over the blocks for a short message of praise for that person's rep generated by their amount of rep. There's a list of messages somewhere, but I haven't looked at it in a long time x_x

Popularity is relative in my opinion. As long as someone feels that they fit in here, they really shouldn't care about rep. Before I left I used to care a lot because some people were just beginning to get more than one block, but I soon realized that the people who were getting all the rep back in, say, August or September were popular for all the wrong reasons, and I felt that if too many people liked me back then, it would mean that I was going along with their new order far too much. Now, though my rep is neither small nor huge, I've been content with it.

People ask to Raise there Rep.How could have a high rep make you feel good?.Thats not what this community is all about. It's about having fun and not caring that your different.*goes on Preaching* O.o

yeah 2 members madea a thread not so long ago and when it backfired they refused to abide to their own rules and didnt rep the other ppl
