"Ha ha." I said in a sarcastic tone as I ran into the tent I was staying in, and came out with my laptop. It was at that moment I felt the direction of the wind shift on my already cold body. "Any chance that storm will hit us?"

"I don't know" I replied, looking up from my search. A little pine, and some oak. That would make for a good fire. I looked out at the horizon, the wind had indeed changed. "I think we're good, though, the wind isn't that bad and the storm's a ways off. I'd say we can stick it out." I had the wood I needed and returned to the camp, digging a little groove to fit the wood in for splitting.

I was resting inside my tent, passing he time by making a carving out of a stick. It started off as a simple wooden post, but I continued carving the end until it was a lethal spike. I'd continue carving until it was too short to carve any further, and then start on a new one. It was boring, but at least my hands weren't idle.

I finally managed to get the fossil out without damaging it, and I quickly returned to the camp site with it. It didn't take much to locate Robert, and I climbed into his tent. there was enough room, thank goodness. I was pretty sure he wouldn't mind my precence, besides, I needed a place to have quiet so I could clean off the fossil...

"Hello there." I began, looking away from my carving at Rachel. "Bring any news from the peanut gallery?" I asked, grinning crookedly. I could never resist making the casual joke, even at times of crisis. It was my one major failing, out of countless minor ones... Another example of my humor, even though it was only in my self-perception. I had gone on this trip mainly for Rachel's company, but truth be told, we weren't really getting as much time alone as I had hoped...

"David fell in a river trying to help a frog." I said, starting to work at the fossil directly. There really wasn't much to do with it, and withen moments, after a mix of Paleo Bond and my X-acto knife, I held in my hand what looked a lot like the lower leg of a bird, but was a bit more solid.

I'm not too late to join this one, am I?

"Somehow, that doesn't suprise me." I said, managing to pull my eyes away from rachel with somedifficulty, and going back to my carving. I had wanted to bring my nintendo DS, but since it only ran on a rechargable battery pack, and not batteries which I could buy and bring with me, I had been forced to find some other ways to keep my hands busy. Granted, I could have them around rachel in a hug most of the time, but I didn't want the comments from the others.

I listened in on the others, while sitting over by myself. Being me, I had my notebook out and my calculator, my deck of cards laid out on a tree stump in front of me. I was yet again calculating the odds of winning and percentages of drawing particular cards. It sometimes annoyed my friends that I would go through so many calculations often enough to only change one card in the deck, but as far I was concerned, these minor changes always made a difference. I would have been playing my DS, but at the time I wasn't in the mood for it. It stayed tucked away in one of my many pockets.

After zipping up my backpack, I crawled out of my tent. I looked over at David and grinned. "Again, huh?" was all I said, before skipping off into some nearby bushes. These vines were filled with Sumac fruit, turnning red. When they were crushed and cooked, they made a drink that tasted somewhat like lemonade. I was minlessly pulling down vines and taking off thesmall groups of round fruit. Then I grabbed a slightly browning branch, and froze. "Um, guys?" I called, "There's a huge cottonmouth on my arm. And it doesn't seem to like me very much." I added, as it bore it's small fangs. Stay still, I told myself. Just stay still.

Kristen watched the goings on as she scratched her head. Kristen shook her head. She watched what was happening for a few mintues before noticing a butterfly fly by her. Kristen tried to catch it in her hand and, to her surprise, she waas able too. Kristen smiled and let the butterfly go. Kristen whirled around and walked back into her tent to take a nap

"Hold still" I muttered to Nekhbet. "I don't want to miss." I quickly took my favored kendo stance, Hasou no Kamae, except with a hatchet in place of a shinai. The head of the hatchet was up near my my cheek, facing towards the snake My left foot was less than a shoulder width from my right, the toes aligned with my right hell. My left heel was barely raised. Without further warning. I exploded into motion, covering the few feet between us in a single large step. The hatchet head shot forward, cleanly severing the body of the snake.

"Hey, is everything okay over there?!" I called as I came out of my tent again, now in a dry set of clothes, though it was the same outfit. "You didn't kill it, did you?" I asked them as I proceeded to join them, starting to head towards the spot I heard the cry. If they killed it, they'd DEFINATELY hear from me.

I sighed in releif, relaxing my arm. "Thanks." I muttered. Then seeing David, I slowly backed away. We were definently going to get it. Then, as I contiues to back away, a strong gust of wind blew me almost face forward. I looked up to the sky. It was dark, muggy green. "Uh-oh." I groaned. "Please don't tell me we're in for it."

"Looks like it" I said, snorting. I grabbed what wood I'd gatherd and dumped it in my tent. I wanted the stuff to stay dry, it smelled like rain. "Everyone" I shouted. The wind was picking up, now, I needed to make myself heard. "Into your tent! Move it!" I darted for my own semblance of shelter and ducked in, grabbing my pack and hurridly zipping up the flap after myself. Once inside, I wiped the hatchet blade clean onn a piece of spare cloth.

"What are you talking about? It's perfectly fine out here!" I argued. Ironically, lightning shot down not even 500 metres away, the combined shock of the light and crackling making me jump, almost falling over. "Oooookay then, into the tents we go!" I exclaimed as I scrambled into mine, zipping it up tightly, and pulling out my laptop. It hadn't said anything about a storm!

I was not far behind them. In fact, I ran to my tent so fast it fell over. I said a string of words that my mother certainly would have had a shock over, attempting to put up the tent again. Of couse, I was no expert and soon had the whole tent looking as though the storm had already hit. Growling, and in a very bad mood, I picked up my backpack and ran into the nearest tent, whiched happend to belong to...

OOC: Anyone choose. Can't think right now. X_X;

I whimpered slightly at the sound of thunder, storing my fossil, then cuddling up aginst Robert. Sure, I had a fear of thunder, but not as major as I was making it out to be. I doubted he knew that though. at another crash of thunder, I whimpered again, curling up, knowing that if anything about him was normal, he'd decide to try and comfort me....

I hugged Rachel to me as she wimpered. I knew that thunder upset her, it was extremely startling, it could at least derail most people, if not scare them. I felt like she was exxagerating somewhat, but I didn't mind, not in the slightest. "It's all right," I said, bringing one hand up to her hair, when suddenly I heard a noise, and looked up to see Nekhbet come inside out tent. "Errr," I began, beginning to flush slightly. Had I not been completely suprised, I might have been upset. Didn't these people respect the privacy of others?

I was exausted and out of breath, but I got out "Thunder... don't like thunder.... tent.... fell down..." I took a deep breath. I had ashma(sp?), and this sort of weather wasn't good for it at all. I fell to my knees and, regaining some energy, smiled and looked up
"Sorry if I intruded... not... not the best at putting up tents... in this weather."
