Cursed

I fell to the ground, covering my head with my hands. My arms too were bearing small smears of blood, but I ignored it. Besides, it was already hard to feel that pain wtih all the other pain around me. And the pain forming within me too, eating at my brain and blacking out all other thoguhts. It was the pain, the dark fear of death. I was afraid of death, I'll admit. I often thought about it at times of peril. But this was when I thought about it the most, this moment right now. Would it hurt to die? Would it be like falling asleep? And, most scary... would I?

I too was feeling the effects of the ice as it cut across my skin. Why the hell did I only bring shorts and t-shirts? As well as cutting my skin, the ice was ripping my clothing up too. "Okay!" I cried back as I dashed towards the cave by the river. It wasnt that far. I could make it within minutes.

I muttered some curses under my breath as my tent went to shreads around me. I grabbed up my bag and held it to my chest to protect it from the wind and rain as I ran over to the others. "Who's idea was it to go camping this time of year?!" I shouted so I could be heard over the tempest.

"Ozy, listen to me! I'm used to this! get the others to safety, they are at risk, not me! the more time you waste, the more of us that will die!" I said, seeing Kristen and Sean. Finally, that was all of them. I sighed in releif, preparing to follow them to safety. my skin was cut, but I ignored it, just worrying about the cold...

"Fine" I shouted back. "But if you die, I'll devote myself to reviving you so I can kill you!" I ran off, motioning for everyone to follow me. I scooped up Nekhbet alonbg the way, resettling my pack along the way. I shifted my sleeping bag down to cover her, affording what protection I could. I dashed off after David. I couldn't keep Nekhbet perfectly still while trying to run, but I could at least try.

I couldn't hear anyone now, nor could I see where I was going. The loss of blood was taking a toll on my body now, and I felt like I could pass out any minute. This is what we get for abusing nature darnit! I finally found the cave I was looking for, and collapsed on the ground just inside the entrance. Free of wind and ice.

I didn't say anything. I wanted to go with rachel, but I knew she was the expert. I followed Ozy, trying not to smile at his words, despite the situation. It was never too bad not to make a joke. I followed wordlessly. I joked a lot about david's nature fanaticism, but if it got us someplace safe, I promised myself that I'd never tease him again. Once we reached the cave, I dove in, and settled against a wall. "If Rachel's not back in fifteen minutes, I'm going back out for her." I said, the tone of my voice was like cold stone.

As they left, I glanced around, before looking through what was left of the tents, searching for anything useful. I didn't find much, but I did find my sleeping bag, which would be useful. but the pain of the ice aginst me finally got to much, and i mentally tested myself to check for slower brain coordination. I immediatly found that the test was failed, and I set off in the direction that Ozy and the rest had gone. but it was virtually impossible to see...

I followed, my hood and hat barely keeping the wind out of my eyes. I squinted through the freezing rain and saw David ina cave. I ran over and ducked inside, immediately shivering from my soaked clothes. But at least my stuff was alright. Lucky me....

Miki watched as David and Ozy, who was carrying Nehkbet, dash to the cave just by the river. She gave Rachel a quick glance before following after them. She wanted to help Rachel, in any ways she could, but she couldn't stand the pain from all the extra cuts she had received. She did believe that Rachel was an expert on this sort of stuff, so she knew it would be pointless worrying about her?at least she hoped so.

When they reached the cave, Miki glanced at everyone, inspecting their wounds. She went to David first and took out the bandages she packed as well as a small towel. She used the towel to wipe the blood off David's wounds then stuck band-aids on them.

"Ha! I knew bringing band-aids would help us someway." She exclaimed happily, grinning goofily in spite of their condition.

"If you even think about it" I said to robert, voice growing cold. "I will tie you down and beat you to within an inch of your life. Rachel chose her path, this is ours and I'm going to keep you alive." Looking over, I added "Come over here" to Miki, my tone far genteler. I needed to check everyone over. frostbite could set in easily at this weather, moreso if a wound was exposed. Our clothes were soaked, we had no wood and only one sleeping bag and a single blanket between us all. Not good. I was afraid to say it, I didn't want anyone freaking out, but odds are that we would die out here. I sighed at the thought and said "Everyone, strip down to yuor underwear. Wearing these things isn't going to do us any good."

"****, no." I growled through gritted teeth. " No way in Hell. I never even did that in gym class in my early years in high school. I'll be fine. My stuff is still dry enough, and I have a sleeping bag. If I come out of my clothes, I'll be sure to spend the whole night in my sleeping bag. NO way. No way.' I continued to mutter, shaking my head fervently. "You have got to be out of your mind."

"Okay, you can put me down now!" I shouted as we reached the cave. I jumped down into the opening, appreciating the block from the wind. But already I was feeling faint. I could see lights dancing behind my eyes, and everything was warping.. I slapped my hand against my head, reviving me a bit. I could tell from my point of view that this cave hadn't been used in a long time, maybe even years. But I did see signs of human activity. Sighing, I slid down the wall I was on, and passed out.

The wind was disorienting me... too much so.. I realised that I was lost.. my mind was slowly shutting itself down, as I found a large pile of ice and snow. I managed to kick part of it, and clear a small hollow inside. I'd have to wake up early and get out before it melted, but it was a safe place. I layed out my sleeping bag inside, and managed to get into my spare set of clothes, before slipping inside the sleeping bag, shivering. above my small shelter, the storm raged, though withen minutes, i was unconcous.

"Come again!?" I cired as I jumped up while Miki applied the bandaids. "There is NO way I'm stripping to my underwear!" I turned to Miki, and felt I had to thank her for aiding me. "Err, thanks I guess." I said quite shyly, despite the situation. We WERE in trouble, that was for sure.

"Oh hell" I said, setting Nekhbet down. Her injuries looked severe and tinges of white were showing around a few. Frantically, I ripped a hole in my bag to get at the down inside. Quickly stripping my shirt off, I placed a bit of the down stuffing on the wound to try and keep the wet cloth from touching it, ripped off a strip of cloth and wound it round her arm. Not good. Her injuries were serious, a simple bandage wouldn't do. But this was what we had. I repeated the process, looking around for the cuts that seemed most severe. I could already feel the water in my hair beginning to freeze. My own health could wait, thoigh, the rest were in troubl.

Kristen ran through the rain, blindly. She stopped a few meters from the cave and listeneed. She was clued in on thel ocation of the cave from the voices inside, though she could carely hear them. Kristen ran through the storm and finally broke through the barrier of rain and ice to come into the cave. Kristen breathed a sigh of relief and walked inside the cave for a few feet and sat down, her bag thumpign down behind her.

"Feel free to freeze to death then." I said, unrollingthe compact sleeping bag out of my backpack, and getting in, zipping it up behind me. I may know that I needed to change for survival, but I'd STILL be self-conscious about it. That was simply how I was, and it wasn't going to change.

"Anyone know what happened to Rachel?" I asked, half in worry and half in trying to avoid the clothing question. "She hasn't come in yet. You don't think she got lost, do you?" I said, my worry starting to become apparent. "maybe some of us should go look for her." I suggested, setting my bag down. "I'm wet already, so if someone wants to go with me, we can go look for her. Someone can borrow my sleeping bag to warm up in the meantime." I offerd, setting my bag on the ground.

I pulled off my sweater, and my sweater only, considering it was the heaviest thing I was wearing. "I'm getting a strange vibe from this cave, but maybe I'm just feeling things...." I said as I rung my sweater out, examining the 50 or so cuts on my torso that were bleeding still, some areas on my skin now coloured purple.
