D.N.A [PG-16]

Finally the battle was over. Eva could hear the tussle outside, and it gave her a headache not being able to shut out the noises. Fighting may have been exciting for her, but Eva knew what it was like to be put into an intense battle. The adrenaline, the rush...mostly the pain. Silently she prayed for all of this to be over. She had no idea how much more she could put up before her tiny Eevee-like body would collapse.

As the experiments came back from their fight, she watched Odessa with curiosity as the experiment flew flames all around the room, hitting the scientists and standing her ground. It was a brave move, and even after they caught her the Flareon had made it out without too much damage countered back. Eva let out a small chuckle. She wanted to say something encouraging in remark to Odessa's actions, but didn't. As for the leafeon, she truly did feel bad for the poor guy, but she thought it would be best to keep herself quiet and not disturb him.

She was still holding onto the water bottle the Angel had given to her before she was put down by the scientists. Eva was still unsure if she could trust the experiment or not. She thought the water was ok, but Eva continued to be hesitant. Every minute her thirst grew, she felt herself become more and more anxious. The experiment set it on the side of her cage.
" Only for emergencies ", she thought, " ...as if this whole situation isn't big enough to be an 'emergency' ".

As the umbreon experiment came back and returned to her cage, Eva muttered out "Thank you for your sacrifice". A giggle was heard from inside her cage.

"Umm....okay then."Aqua said kind of slowly as the scientist walked away.

Her eyes went to Kobora.

"What the hell did they do to him?"She accedently asked outloud.

Aqua sat back down and rested against the cage bars. She closed her eyes and clamly breathed. She was doing her best to keep herself together. It a lot to not scream and ram around in her cage from having to stay in her cage so much. Her ears twitched while she listened to the distant foot steps of the scientists, none coming there way at the momment, but she was listening incase they did come there way.

(Oh My Gosh. I'm totally lost, and its my own RP!! Wow, I see you guys have more or less taken care of 'pairing' each other up. One of the things i was gonna do in this RP was stick them in cages together. haha, yall beat me to it. I can't do an actual post right now, but I will later. Just checking up on yall. I'll post tomorrow (though I don't know who I'm gonna interact with, you're all paired up!) haha)

Kobora woke up, feeling a lot of pain and electricity. "Now I know what it feels like to be hit by lightning. That hurt like hell." Kobora said, looking around. "Ok...when did I get in here?" Kobora thought, slowly getting up, but having no feeling in his right arm. "Crap! My right arm is temporarily paralyzed." Kobora said.

Shade came back over to Aqua's cage, and glared at Kobora while holding his weapon. "Paralysis, huh? Pathetic. I want you in top health for our "walk" tomorrow night, Espeon boy. Might as well give you this Parlyz Heal." Shade said, throwing a Parlyz Heal at Kobora with perfect aim so it went through the bars. "Keep yourself healthy." Shade added before walking away.

"I'm getting sick of this rotten place", Eva thought to herself, "I'm done being a slave. I'm done fighting. And I'm done being treated like a filthy animal. ...But I know I can't get out of this place alone. At least, not without some help."

She sighed. The wounds from her earlier battle were infected, and shot pain throughout her body. She started reflecting back to the past to keep her mind on other things. Why had she left her home in the first place? What could she ever done to help? Why did the scientists want her? Nothing made sense. This whole place seemed like a never-ending game- and if Eva and her friends didn't get out in time they would soon be eliminated.

As she was staring into space a scientist walked through a door from the front-right corner of the room. As the tall human walked toward her, Eva immediately started thrashing in her cage, snarling to try and frighten them away; but the human didn't show a moment of hesitation. The stranger opened the cage in a swift, careful motion, putting the experiment on a leash. Eva immediately bit down on the leash and tugged as hard as she could. This time she was terribly afraid- she had already fought her battle, what else did they want from her? Well, she didn't want to find out.

Angel heard the Eevee experiment fighting back against a scientist. She focused onto the sound and fired off a powerful Dark Pulse. It hit the scientist, sending him into the wall. She nudge the cage door open, and fired off another attack. She worked her way to the Eevee, until she was next to her. She reached down and unhooked the leash, tossing it to the side. "Are you ok?", she asked. She shook for a moment, but then stood straight as an arrow. The scientist screamed for help. Help did arrive, in the form of 5 guards. Angel's palms glowed a dark, sinister purple. "Are you feeling lucky tonight? Well are you? Punks", she said. She growled a warning, showing that she meant business. One guard was stupid enough to try his luck. Angel sent him into the wall, knocking him out. She turned to the remaining four.

"Anybody else feeling lucky tonight?", she hissed. The other four picked up their two wounded comrades and ran from the room. Angel snickered. "Your all nothing but a bunch of beefed-up sissys! The lot of ya! You call yourselves guards?", she said. She flicked her tail in contempt. She walked back to the cage she shared with Moe, laying down next to him. She sighed heavily. She felt older than ever. They had to find a cure soon, or else all this fighting would be in vain.

Moe wraps an arm around Angel's shoulder as she returns. He smiles, but is worried for her. "You really shouldn't push the scientists like that. Their sympathy will only last for a short time. And what the hell will we do when they gang up on you, huh? We can't fight them all off." He ruffles her hair, absently smoothing it back out. "Great. Now paranoia's gonna keep me up all night."

He chuckles as he lays back down. He tries to extend his roots into the soil, but they won't move. He tries again, flexing the muscles, but the roots refuse to move. He tries extending his vines, but has no success there, either. Slightly panicking, he tries his Leaf Blade and even his Bullet Seeds, but neither are responding. What the hell is going on? I must've been burned worse than I thought. Come on, Leaf! Get out of this funk you're in!

He tries his plant techniques a little more, getting angry and frightened, but still has no success. He lays back down, panicked. Okay, okay. Sleep. Maybe sleep will help. You've had a hard day. You need to rest. Right! Sleep...

Eva smiled, grateful for the help that had been provided to her. In a rush, she began unlocking the cages to every Eeveelution Experiment. In doing so, she looked at Angel and Moe, noticing that there was an issue. The poor Leafeon was panicking, unable to use his moves. She heard something about needing to rest, and spoke her mind.

"You don't need rest. You need nutrients", she said, "Or at least something to make you a little more healthy. Like food, water...". Her voice faded out as she began to wonder why she even cared what happened to them. Maybe it was because they had shown her kindness? Either way, her advice probably was no help, since there wasn't anything around.

Eva heard the footsteps of other humans coming from inside the walls, and stood her ground. More 'guards' were coming through the doors. Immediately the experiment shot out Swift from her hands, stars pounding the humans backwards.

"We've really done it now..."

((Okay, quick note. If something is in "quotes", it's spoken. If it is in italics, it is internal thoughts posted merely so I can explain how my character is thinking. If it is in ((double parentheses)), it is OOC. Just explaining this, so people stop responding to my thoughts.))

Moe watches Eva opening cages, and when a scientist appears, he sees her fight back. "I guess we're all in a violent mood, huh? Well, looks like it's do or die!" He bolts up, rushing over to Eva. "Hi there! Need a hand?"

Angel had been resting; when she felt Moe ruffle her hair, then smooth it back into place. He was worried about her, she knew. She could tell because all of her other senses were shaper, more sensitive. "Tch. Don't worry about me. I can handle the morons no problem." she said. She placed her hand on his cheek for a moment. A reassuring gesture. She saw Eva open the cages, and a scientist rushed in. Eva fought back, and Moe ran to her side. Angel shook her head. She created a dark ring of energy, making a scrunchie out of dark energy. She put her hair up in a bun, giving the scientists less to grab. She ran over to Moe and Eva, body-slamming a guard trying to sneak up on them from a different angle. The guard grabbed her arm, twisting it painfully.

Angel screamed in pain as she felt the bone snap. She had to get away, and fast. She wriggled and then suddenly, she found herself next to Moe. The guard looked as confused as she did. Angel grinned. *Extreme Speed. Me like*, she thought. She fired off a Confusion attack, and then lunged close to Bite. She bit the guard so hard she snapped the bone in his arm. She felt more like an Umbreon than a human. She looked around, 'seeing' the auras of everyone. She embraced the instincts of the Umbreon DNA. She let out a loud, piercing, cry of "Umbbrreeeoonnn!" She then proceeded to go psycho on the enemy. She fearlessly placed herself in front of her comrades, and ruthlessly fired off Dark Pulse after Dark Pulse in rapid succession.

Angel had never felt so angry in her life. She radiated hatred and anger from her body, her heart, her very soul. Anger at the men for doing this to her, Anger at them for making her blind, anger at them for torturing everyone, anger at them for forcing them to fight each other like dogs. Hatred for the way they stole her life, hatred for what they've done to Moe, to Eva, to everyone, hatred for what they're doing to her and most of all. Anger and hatred for the loss of her ignorance of the problems around her. She was angry because she had wanted to remain carefree and happy as long as she could, and they took it all away. She screamed in pure rage. Everyone stopped and looked at her. She was standing still, but her fists were shaking, clenched. Her arm had healed from Moonlight. Her fists glowed a dark purple-black. Her hair had come un-done, and was now in a messy wave. Her entire body was glowing a dark purple-black after a few seconds. Her hair glowed as well. Her golden rings could have lit up Goldenrod City for years.

"I. Have. Had. ENOUGH!", she growled. She looked up, and her eyes weren't the pretty purple they had been. They were a cold, soul-less, glittering, murderous black. "You have destroyed my happiness", She said, firing an intensely powerful Dark Pulse at the guards. She fired after every sentence. "You have destroyed my life". *Fires* "You have destroyed my dreams". *Fires* "You have hurt so many people". *Fires* "For no flipping reason." *Fires* "Other than for your own dang amusement!!!" *Fires*

Angel turned to Moe, still angry. Moe's presence was enough to influence her and she calmed down, her body returning to its pre-anger state. The dark energy faded, leaving snow-white skin behind. She stood for a moment more before falling to the ground, panting. That was the most energy she had ever used. She had never been so angry in her life, never felt so powerful. She just wanted to sleep. To curl up next to the safety and warmth of Moe and just rest. She'd had a rough time. Her heart was slower, her breaths shallower. Like she'd given up everything she had in her to protect the others, to give them a chance. Her hair was covering the floor like an inky black pool of silk.

More guards were coming now. She'd never seen so many in a single room before, and they were gathering around all of them. Eva began panicking; what would they do? They couldn't fight forever. It was all her fault this huge commotion had started, and now some blood was bound to be shed. She prayed it would only be the scientists'.

Angel was using up lots of her energy by fighting, and soon enough she had collapsed onto the ground. The Eevee wanted to help her, but if she let her guard down they'd all be immediately attacked. She shot a look of remorse at Angel to let her know she wished she could help, and nodded at Moe.

"If you want to help, take care of your girlfriend and get her out of here. I'll join up soon", she barked out. Eva knew this was their chance to escape. They had taken it too far. "No going back now..."

The experiment was ready. Humans began to rush at her, and immediately she began shooting Shadow Balls at them, knocking them back hard into the walls. Eva's fur was prickling up, making herself looking a bit bigger and more aggressive than usual. She was breathing hard, and her heart was pounding as her blood began to boil. The experiment used Quick Attack to rush up to a certain guard, punching him in the face till the blood gushed out. As she was doing so, however, Eva was grabbed from behind. She squirmed as she was grabbed by both her arms and by her throat. Eva tried kicking the man back, but her thrashing did nothing. She couldn't breathe, and was beginning to loose all oxygen she had earlier managed to hold onto. It was becoming extremely hard for her to hold on, and she found herself becoming weaker. Eva looked past the guard, staring at her cage mates; the ones she had failed to protect.

"H-Help!" she choked out. She was on her own.

A last kick freed her from the grasp of the guard. Eva fell to the ground immediately, trying her hardest to take in a few hard, long breathes; though they turned out rather to be big and fast ones. More people were surrounding her.

"Get away!" Eva screamed out, using Quick Attack to smash into each and every one of them. There had to be at least 25 guards in here now, and more coming.

Moe stares in shock and awe as Angel unleashes her superpowered evil side. He reflexively ducks or flinches every time she fires a Dark Pulse, even though he is in no danger. He steps back as she turns to him, unnerved by her eyes. "Angel..."

She suddenly returns to normal, collapsing in on herself a little. Moe steps forward to support her, wrapping her in his arms, and his arm vines extend to wrap around her as well. "What the hell just happened?" He looks up at the guards, a small grin on his face
"Now you've done it. I think there's about to be some changes around here."

"No, I think not." A scientist steps forward, holding a small remote. Moe recognizes him. "Oh hi, Mr. Crazyman. With the shiny glasses." "It's Doctor Crazyman to you, boy!" The scientist presses a button on the remote, causing small spikes on Moe's collar to extend into his neck. Moe cries out in pain, falling to the floor. He unwittingly drags Angel with him, but manages to let go. The scientist steps forward, grinning wickedly. "What? Did you think we just forgot about those? That they were just for show? They're restraints, you fool! Now stop being so insolent!"

Moe tries to stand, but the pain keeps him down. His Leafeon mind quietly urges him to fight back, and his human mind agrees. He extends a Leaf Blade, slowly rising to one knee. "We will not let you kill us."

Angel had been drifting in and out of consiousness. She had heard her name, but who had said it? *Moe*, she thought. She was aware of the urgency and situation they were in, but unable to move. She came too when she landed on the floor again, this time it was more painful. She whimpered softly, clinging to whatever, whoever was holding her. She read the auras, and found that it was Moe who had grabbed her. Moe had just been hurt. In Angel's mind, that was a death sentence. She felt Moe move to one knee. She clenched her jaw and managed to stand up. She was battered, beaten, bruised and bloody, yet she stood there looking as defiant as she ever had. Angel knew that as soon as she embraced the darkness within her, she would be able to unleash it upon anyone. She smiled. She looked at her hands. "Take a look around you. Look at what happened when I got mad because they hurt myself. You have just hurt the one person I would lay down my life for, the one person I care about. I don't take too kindly to that.", she said. Her voice was hypnotic and deadly. She looked at the scientist. "I may be blind, but that doesn't make me any less deadly and dangerous as I was when I could see." She placed her left hand on Moe's, squeezing it gently. She suddenly realized what she had said. She just admitted that she loved Moe.

She shrugged. Suddenly she felt needles go into her neck. In an instinctive reaction, she sent dark energy to the site of pain. Unfortunantly, she hadn't thought about the amount she needed. She quite effectively shorted out her own collar. She grinned, realizing what this meant. She wasn't their toy anymore. She wasn't their play-thing. She looked at Moe again. She could have ripped the collar off and run, but she wasn't going to leave Moe behind. They either ran together, or not at all.

The scientist's smug grin falters as Angel's collar shorts out. "Wait! I still have his collar! If you make one wrong move he bleeds to death! Let's settle this reasonably! Just us. You, me, and the boy." The scientist holds the remote threateningly, edging away from Angel. "You care about him. I care about both of you! Your injuries are only setbacks! If you cooperate, we can cure you!"

Moe extends his roots into the ground, seeking the life-giving nutrients. He grips Angel's hand, supporting her as much as she is supporting him. He glances at her, a dozen thoughts and emotions running through his head. "What do you say, Ange? Cooperate? Or take him out?" One of his vines snakes underground, silently wrapping around the scientist's ankle.

Angel watched the scientist back away slowly and she wanted to tear the scientist to pieces, but that would result in Moe's death. That she didn't doubt. She embraced the cold, calculating side of her, the Umbreon side of her. A side she had never used before now. She thought about what the scientist had said. She sensed that one of Moe's vines had wrapped around the scientists ankle. Her face went peaceful. "A moment, if you please sir. I must discuss this with him." She said, her tone polite and respectful. She bent down, her hair hiding both of them from the scientist's eyes. Her lips were a few inches away from Moe's ear. "Take the vine off of his ankle. I have fought too hard and too long to keep you safe, just to have you mess it up now. Please. For me", she whispered, her tone soft and pleading.
"I can't risk your life by refusing his help. He just might have the cure for the problem. Let's face it. Neither of us can fight much longer in the state that we're in. If we take him out, we may never find the cure. We'll have to trust him, much as I hate the idea. Moe….No matter what happens now, I want you to know that it was an honor and a pleasure to have been your cage mate and to have fought beside such a brave warrior. I don't trust or respect anyone easily, I never did. You, however, have gained my respect, my trust, and my admiration", She whispered. She kissed him on the cheek before standing back up. "Alright. We'll cooperate with you. After all, we are still human and quite capable of being reasonable. I do however, want you to know something. If you hurt him in any way, shape or form after we've cooperated, I will hunt you down and kill you like an Arcanine would hunt and kill a Buneary. I do hope we understand each other.", She said, her tone stayed polite and respectful, never threatening. Simply stating a fact.

Moe pauses as Angel talks to him. He realizes that she has a point, and let's go. Her kiss, however, throws him completely off guard. He retracts the vine back into his arm, standing beside Angel. He looks up at her, seeing the confidence in her eyes. He looks at the scientist, unable to see his eyes. He knows who he trusts. "Agreed. And for the record, I don't appreciate being your bargaining chip. And the spikes hurt. FYI."

The scientist nods, raising his voice to talk to the guards. "Alright, men! Put the subjects back into their quarters! And don't hurt them! We have science to do!" He presses a button on the remote, causing the spikes to retract. Oddly, they leave no marks in Moe's neck. He personally escorts Moe and Angel to their cage. "Now, the science can continue. I feel we got off to the wrong start. You two are of particular interest to me. Call me 'Doc'. I'll be keeping an eye on you both."

"Alright, men! Put the subjects back into their quarters! And don't hurt them! We have science to do!", the scientist said. Angel appeared relaxed on the outside, but inside, she radiated hatred for the man. She followed the man, limping badly, as he personally led them back to their cage. Angel tried to sit gracefully, but her legs gave out and she landed on the floor awkwardly, letting out an indignant squeak of surprise and pain. She gazed up at the man called Doc, her sightless eyes never leaving his.
"Listen Doc, I generally don't work with or trust people I hate with a passion. Surely you of all people would understand why I hate you. I'm blind because of what your men did. Your men have done so much, starvation, beatings. If what you said is correct, surely you could fix my sight. If you can't I'd rather know now, instead of getting my hopes up and then having them dashed by failure. Just remember, Doc, I'm not very nice when people hurt my friends or family. Certainly not my mate." she warned. She sat up against a wall, her back screaming at her, but she didn't care. "So what happens now?", she asked tiredly. She'd fought long and hard. And it was beginning to show on her face, her body, and in her voice. She shook from exhaustion, but stayed awake. She was cold, but there was no blanket. *Why had I said mate? Why?!*, she thought to herself. Hopefully Moe didn't catch that part.

Doc nods at Angel, all warmth gone from his face, but grudging respect still there. "Oh trust me, I can understand your position, Angel. Restoring your sight won't be easy, but it can be done. Slowly but surely. It begins with a basic process to discover the extent of the damage, and from there we can restore partial sight. We have a device that can amplify your sight afterwards." He taps his glasses pointedly, then continues talking. Meanwhile, Moe is let in, and he finds a patch of dirt next to Angel.

Doc backs out of the cage as he speaks. "In order to restore full sight, it will take some time. Time and some... hard to find resources. Until then, you stay here and rest. Some of my men will be by occasionally to run some simple, PAINLESS tests. But nt everyone here is one of my men. I can't protect you from everyone."

With those words, Doc slams the cage door, locking Moe and Angel inside. He pulls a small metal shield-like device out of his pocket, holding it in front of himself. "Get well soon, little furlings! And don't bother attacking me, this is a MirrorShield. It will just bounce your attacks back at you. See ya later! Bye!" Doc walks away, his guards following. One of them glares at Angel, throwing her ball into the cage, followed by Moe's. He then literally runs away.

Moe simply sits next to Angel, the two leaning on each other for support. He recalls her words. "Certainly not my mate." Did she mean "friend"? Like the Australian meaning? Or does she mean MATE mate? Hoo boy... He rests his hand on her shoulder, supporting and restraining. "Don't worry about it. We can take care of ourselves. And now we have a way out. If we can take out either his shield or his remote, one or the other of us can get him in a position to get us out of here. We'll see what we can do for the others when we get there."

"Well...it's time we contiue our "you know what."" Shade said, forcing Kobora out of his cage by his paralysed arm, and bringing him back to the room he was tested in before. "You nearly busted our first machine, but this time...you aren't going to screw up anything." Shade said as he forsed Kobora into the chair again, chaining him up, and activating the devise again with only ten percent of energy. "This time, let's do this slow and steady. We don't want you destroying the other experiments." Shade said as he shut and locked the door, then putnon his night vision goggles to see everything in the dark room.

Angel was angry. No, She was beyond angry. She was LIVID. She wanted to get up and kill that man. How had she been so easily fooled? She should have known not to trust him! *I did know. I just had to trust him for Moe's sake. Not my own. Never my own.*, she thought. *"Certainly not my mate." Did she mean "friend"? Like the Australian meaning? Or does she mean MATE mate? Hoo boy... *, Angel heard. She felt Moe put a hand on her shoulder. Gentle, but restraining. "Don't worry about it. We can take care of ourselves. And now we have a way out. If we can take out either his shield or his remote, one or the other of us can get him in a position to get us out of here. We'll see what we can do for the others when we get there.", Moe said. She looked at Moe, blushing fiercely. "Hehe, sooooo. Ummmmm.", she said. "I actually meant m-mate m-mate. Not the word for friend. I-I don't know why I said it", she said. She flipped her hair so that it hid her face. She sat there, not knowing what to do. What to say to Moe after that.
