Ugh, I wish I can connect to the internet a lot. But I've learned to cope with "borrowing" Internet Connections. 8(

According to my speed test, 5.82 mbps wifi on campus. Dorms here hit about 40ish on a good day.

For absolutely no reason, my high school had about 600 (yes, hundred) mbps. lol. Though I wouldn't know about the wifi there since I never used it.

What does mbps stand for?
Megabytes per second?

I don't really know internet things..o.o

@charizard yeah thats right

And my download speed is about 10 Mbps and my max that BT estimated I can get in my area is about 14 even though the cap thingy is for 20 so not too bad but technically I should be getting double :'(

Yes! I got one right! +1 for me :D

But, I seriously hate how my internet is connected to my phone line :/

My download speed depends on how fast my internet is.

At my mom's, it can be really fast or really slow; at my dad's it's fast unless he gets a phone call (which usually ends up being a sales call >_>;). And then for some reason it always seems to die around 20:30 for a few minutes.

Lol that used to happen to me but it stopped. Your supposed to use the ADSL filters or w.e theyre called. I thought it was a BS excuse to buy one of them but it stops you from slowing down/DC'in when theres a call well it did for me anyway (plus i got mine free :D)

My download speed is supposedly 3 mb/s, but it only goes 160 kb/s (If I'm lucky)... I don't really know why. =/

I am pretty sure that mbps stands for megabits per second, rather than megabytes. megabytes are represented as MB, whereas megabits as Mb. I think

I am going to get a faster bandwidth the next month, hopefully.

Oh. didnt know there was a difference XD. I just wish I could get that fibre optic stuff :D

Edit just checked and apparently it says it is megabit and it shouldnt be confused with megabytes wich is like you said MBps XD

Yeah. Since there's a big difference between a bit and a byte.
A bit refers to a single Binary character, either 0 or 1, whereas a byte refers to a combination of 8 bits. That's a pretty big difference.

Danggit. I was wrong D:

What kind of internet do you guys have? I have Vonage -_-

I have something called Telecom, an ISP in Lebanon. I hate my provider. They charge you a lot.

ERZA THEME /hides before she goes into FT-fantard mode

Other than that, I have no clue what I have. Unless Verizon counts (my dad's Wi-Fi). And we use Linksys at my mom's...

Never heard of those ones o.o

I had Comcast and Dish before, but only for a short while.

I think you mean "Who is your Internet Service Provider (ISP)?"

I have a cable provider called Mediacom as my ISP at the moment, though that may change to a different telecom company called Century Link, which recently bought out Embarq, the company that used to provide our telephone services.
