Thanksgiving Day is a harvest festival celebrated primarily in the United States and Canada. Thanksgiving is a holiday to express thankfulness, gratitude, and appreciation to God, family and friends for which all have been blessed of material possessions and relationships. Traditionally, it has been a time to give thanks for a bountiful harvest. This holiday has since moved away from its religious roots.[1]
In the United States, Thanksgiving Day falls on the fourth Thursday of November. In Canada it is celebrated on the second Monday in October.
The precise historical origin of the holiday is disputed. Although Americans commonly believe that the first Thanksgiving happened in 1621, at Plymouth Plantation, in Massachusetts, there is strong evidence for earlier celebrations in Canada (1578) and by Spanish explorers in Florida (1565).
Thanksgiving Day is also celebrated in the Netherlands. A different holiday which uses the same name is celebrated at a similar time of year in the island of Grenada.

There's a few things I associate with Thanksgiving; food, family and football.

My family gets together to eat Thanksgiving and we also watch the football games that air every Turkey Day, along with the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade.

Thanksgiving is there to mark the beginning of the Christmas shopping season.

Supposedly it's how Americans give thanks to each other and remember how the first Americans, that is, the native ones, helped to keep those first Europeans alive when they first arrived. The strange Dutch-style hats are what people think the pilgrims wore and they show up as a visual aide. When you see those hats you know it's some Thanksgiving related stuff going on because no one in their right mind would wear one any other time.

Which is ironic because that is by no means how it happened. xDDD

My family all goes to my grandma's house and we have a bunch of food. Then, we watch football.

Orange chicken for breakfast = The BEST breakfast. :D

Orange chicken is delicious. They serve it at my school, though it's not as good as restaurant orange chicken.
