I've honestly never saw the point in a war. It's just going to end up killing us all.

War is pretty much inevitable, as much as the sun setting in the evening. To get rid of war, one would need to alter fundamental properties that make us human. A bit gloomy, yes, but realistic.

Some countries have completely voluntary service in the armed forces by the way.

Yeah, Australia's been pretty okay with its volunteer services, only ever having true conscription during World War II when our country was actually in danger of being attacked by the Japanese. There was semi-conscription during Korea and Vietnam, but we haven't had anything of the sort for almost the last 40 years. We're still alive, KT; we've been bombed literally once, by the aforementioned Japanese in the aforementioned time of war.
