No matter how much you run away from it, 'graphics' is one major aspect of any game. If it weren't for our greed/lust for better eye candy, we'd be stuck playing Doom even now. Or maybe Dave or something.

That being said, hacks that have good graphics generally appeal to a larger number of people. But because of the fact that the coming generations are getting better and better in terms of graphics, some people may just leave rom hacks, maybe. Idk.

It's a major aspect for people who doesn't know what a real game is. I find it annoying that some games get a lower score for simply having graphics that might not appeal.. I have no idea what to call you if you play games for graphics. Graphics are overrated, what was wrong with 2008's graphics?

Well, I'm not saying that graphic is everything. It matters as much as other important aspects like plot and stuff do. I merely said that it is one of the major aspects.

I wouldn't play a yummilicious looking One Piece game if it didn't have any story, for example. XD;

I can point out a number of hacks who did not have anything special when it came to graphics (tiles and sprites), but with sheer excellence at scripting the events became successful.
But yeah, good tiles and sprites = easily drawing people's attention. Mapping and scripting according to me are of primary importance.

How does B/W come into all this? We are talking about rom hacking, were ordinary people are the ones hacking a rom. Though we have some people here who are as talented as the guys at Nintendo.

Did you notice that word in there? Yeah, that word situated somewhere in between 'graphics' and 'appeal'. Yeah, that one.

And well, even I know of hacks which became hits even though they never had any good graphics in them. Rijon adventures is the best example, right?

kay Elia, I admit defeat. XD; It doesn't hold as much importance as the plot does but certainly has its importance which can't be negated. And about the second sentence...well, those jerks just don't do justice to a lot of games because of their fetish for better graphics. It is plain wrong. A game should be judged by its content and not its graphics. But yeah, I certainly wouldn't play any game which has 'excellent' story/plot with badly outdated graphics such as the ones in Doom even if I get the chance to.

You shouldn't expect such a huge leap.. I've seen vids and it feels like a improved gen 4.. not that any pokemon game isn't an improvment of the other, but yeah. Doesn't feel much of a rehash at least.

I... still kinda don't get why ROM hacking interests people, like seriously, it takes so much effort. And with B/W and the ~improved~ graphics, it means older hacks look bad and... idk.

People rom hack because it provides them an opportunity to showcase their innovation and skill. Graphics isn't everything, you know...

What I meant was the better graphics of B/W has nothing to do with ROM hacks looking bad. ROM hacking is a completely different arena. Some people have already figured out how to hack Gen IV a bit so it wouldn't be long before Gen V falls to us! HAHAHAHAHAHA!

I've seen what Black and White contains for myself too. I like what I see and it's my whole opinion. Not only is it about the graphics, but the features like the new battling style, the storyline, challenges, etc. have opened up to me in which has me want the game. It's not only because I'm a mod of the section for B/W that makes me say this, but because I actually have knowledge in how it all is, and I fond Generation V from what I know about it.

Actually, with each new generation we have traditionally had a newer console. Since B/W kinda uses the same console we fail to see any drastic changes. For example, from R/S/E to D/P/Pt was a huge leap.

Even though it might not really seem much, B/W certainly brought its share of changes into the franchise and no matter what anyone says, it is praiseworthy for that. I liked nearly all of the innovations of these new games. Except its pokemon. The designs suck. >_>

My favourite out of B/W's Pokemon are Tsutaja and Mijumaru! :3

Well, my opinion would be like...the polar opposite of yours, Nica. I like maybe...four of them. All the rest suck, imo. ;_;

I like Mijumaru's last evo, tho. Even though it ain't cute or anything, its cry is ftw. XD;

Out of the starters, I like Pokabu/Mijumaru the most, mainly due to their movesets (and their looks too... and the fact Tsutaaja fans are really obsessive lol).

Hehe, I like both of them, tbh. The way zekrom shines in its battle sprite with the blue lights...is just ftw, imo. I like that about him. Apart from that, meh. XD;
