Random Post of the night from "brad" XD :
"The internet isn't real."
Does anyone else want to rip out the throats of people that say this?
I don't know where we came up with this concept that the internet isn't real. It's there, right? It's usable? Hell, you're on the internet right now, reading this entry about how the internet is real and anyone who says otherwise is probably very ignorant.
We don't deny that phone conversations are real. We accept the fact that the person on the other line is who we think it is. We can't see that person; we can't actually prove it is them. Yet, do we ever question for a second that the person on the other line is indeed, real?
No, I thought not.
They also say that accomplishments on the internet do not count for anything, and that we should all go out into the real world and accomplish something in real life. When did it become necessary to divide "internet life" and "real life"? As far as I see it, the internet is just a part of real life now. Just as much as going to school, or work, or even going grocery shopping; we've all made the internet a part of our lives.
I was successfully able to sway the hand of a multi-million (billion?) dollar company without ever actually meeting them. I said that I'd get everyone to boycott their products if they didn't listen. And they did. I figure that is an accomplishment, that a bunch of kids were able to sway these guys, even if it was never in real life.
To sum this little article up, the internet is real, and so are the people on it. Even if you can't see who's on the other side of the screen, they are real, and the internet is real, and everything got here through the real efforts of real people.
So why don't you try accomplishing something real in our fake world?
