In every single one of my classes I have at least one idiot who failed grade 10 two years in a row. Now that is pathetic. What idiot fails grade 10 TWICE? O____o; Grade 11 or 12 is understandable depending on the courses you take since those are more difficult, but grade 10 isn't that hard. I'm in grade 10 so far and it's a breeze. No hard work, no homework, nothing. o____o;

That is indeed quite pathetic. Back when I was still in high school, I never encountered anyone who failed Year 10 twice.

Year 10 was also a breeze for me as far as I remember it.

I've been wondering for a long time why people in the media and whatnot kept pointing out low test scores, that high school graduates couldn't read and whatever else. I never had any experience with such American stupidity up until this year. It all happened in the first week of school. The students in question could not pronounce the following words: English, maximize, and atmosphere. It's 12 grade, and they can't even sound it out phonetically.

...How can anyone not pronouce "english"? It's the language almost all North Americans can speak and yet they can't even pronounce the word? That's quite odd, Simon. "Atmosphere" was a tricky word for me to pronounce, but only until 7th grade. Grade 12 students should at least know how to pronounce simple words like that. It's really funny, but bizarre in a way.
 
I went out to the mall with Mark today. He's Hungarian, and has only three years of English. Sometimes he doesn't understand me :B But it was fun.

One of my friends has the same problem. She's only been here in Canada for one year getting homeschooled and such from her parents, and comes to school this year without a single clue as to what some words mean. And she can't even pronounce english. Sometimes I even have to explain stuff to her twice in a slow manner for her to understand me well.

It's just that sometimes it gets really odd when you can't understand someone and they can't understand you. I know it's not her fault, only being a little fluent in english and all, but sometimes I get so confuzzled. x_x
 
I think the two posters above me just broke the DCC rules~

We have students from Hungary, Switzerland, Germany, and Norway.

okay finally a term i understand, I speak frenglish quebec french semi-fluently. Frenglish though for your information is a more english influenced (i.e. Quebec) french. Actually i think it's a little more english extremed french.
Anyways, saying eh is fun.

On the school subject. My school is pretty smart. The only screwed up kids are the few kids that want to be in gangs yet are much to nice. Just rules aggressive and a kid named Ryan that left 2 years ago after he tried to stab me with a kitchen knife in foods and scissors after gym.
He was fat and pudgy and his threats were more of jokes (maybe not to him but seeing this 3 foot tall exercise ball with a kitchen knife pointed at your toes is kinda funny). He was the stupidest kid ever though, trying to blend frozen butter and bake cooie dough on the oven door.
