Though it had been attempted in the past, the Pokemon League had never accepted a gym comprised primarily of Dark Pokemon. The leaders argued that the temperament of the type is simply too unstable, that they are untameable, that allowing Dark types to accumulate in such high numbers within a single building could potentially be fatal. While some aspiring gym leaders took their rebuttal with a polite nod and declaration that they would be on their way Esthin Roschel would not be so easily denied. His assertive, aggressive tendencies proved to be beneficial, as when he was denied a Leaders' License a third time he took action. Working for days on end with little rest he set out to create a team of Dark Pokemon, and only Dark Pokemon, to prove that they could indeed be tamed and trained. Despite hardship and difficulty along the way Esthin managed to fill six Pokeballs with Dark type Pokemon, make them all obey his commands, and even more impressive, train them to follow orders with as much precision as a military unit. These six he took directly to the heads of the League and demonstrated his success. Impressed, they finally accepted, making Esthin Roschel the first Dark type gym leader.
Construction began immediately. Esthin chose to base himself in the Hoenn region, taking over Tate and Liza's gym in Mossdeep City as they desired to retire from training and instead open a psychic surgery clinic. Their gym was bulldozed and construction began immediately on a new building, larger, darker in color to reflect the nature of the Pokemon that trained within. One year later the gym was complete. Esthin chose to use no trick floor or warp tiles. Instead, his policy was train hard, become stronger by the day, and it wouldn't matter if a trainer were to challenge him or not, for they would not win. Over time he earned followers, others to train in his gym under him. Quickly they grew into a powerful manifestation of dark energy. One would walk into the door and feel all hope and optimism drain from their body. As soon as they left they would recover quickly, shaken, but otherwise unharmed. Word of the unnerving occurrences eventually reached Lance, Champion of the Johto Elite Four. That was when the investigation began.
Lance hired a man to go to Esthin's gym, now known as the Void Gym, to inquire about training under Esthin. He was accepted, and began gathering information. Lance noticed from his weekly reports that he seemed to grow colder at an alarmingly fast rate until he abandoned the project completely, fully consumed by the training of his Dark Pokemon. That was the final straw. Now regretting his agreement that the Void Gym ought to be given a license, he appealed to the other League leaders to have it repealed. He was shot down immediately as they quoted Article 4, Section 6 of the Rules and Regulations Regarding Gym Leadership: Once a gym is licensed, said license may not be taken without evidence of foul play or danger to the leader, trainers, or civilians.
All seemed lost. Lance knew he could not simply burst into the Void Gym and demand proof that it was dangerous and should be destroyed. He would need to be far more clever. That was when he came up with the idea to contact a number of young men and women who had not begun training, the offspring of successful trainers and gym leaders, and tell them that he would sponsor their progression, as long as they would begin immediately and in the Hoenn region. When he got four replies he would tell Professor Birch to keep four special starters for them, and to give them to those who could produce proof that they were Lance's sponsored few. But they would have to hurry. There were dark clouds reported to have formed over Mossdeep City that would not disperse. The crime and suicide rate had risen, and people were beginning to disappear. Whatever was happening there was reaching critical mass, and something had to be done to stop it. There was even tell that Esthin had done the same as Lance and sent five of his own gym trainees, previously unallowed to have their own Pokemon, to seek out and derail Lance's trainers. At any cost, Esthin warned them, they had to keep them from getting any proof at all that his gym was dangerous to himself or anyone else.

To summarize: Either you're one of Lance's new trainers, or Esthin's trainees. Lance's trainers, try to get to the gym. Esthin's trainees, try to stop them. Lance's trainers have the benefit of choosing from a greater variety of starters, while Esthin's may only start with a Dark type. What they have after that is up to them.

Name: Elizabeth 'Lizzie' Jordan
Age: Seventeen
Gender: Female
Appearance: Lizzie considers herself of average height and build, despite never really working out. Her skin is lightly toned, showing indistinguishable freckles that appear here and there on her face with green coloured eyes. Lizzie's hair is a lighter shade of brown, slightly wavy and quite untamable, which reaches just below her shoulders. She wears her hair either in a messy bun with a side fringe that covers most of her forehead or in a side ponytail, pulled back off her face.
She frequently wears singlet tops in her favourite colour, a dark sea blue, combined with pale blue denim shorts cut off above the knee and white lace-up tennis shoes when the weather is fine. On other occasions she wears t-shirts with various slogans printed on the front and her favourite black and blue pleated skirt. Though she doesn't wear them often, Lizzie loves denim overalls. The bag she carries everywhere with her is dark brown leather in colour, with a very worn and torn look. It isn't big enough to fit many belongings in, which is why Lizzie does spend a lot of time in Pokemon Centres waiting for bad weather to pace and such. Her bag is styled like a small messenger bag.
Personality: Lizzie has a shy personality, prefering to stay indoors rather than roam around outside. Despite this trait, she does have the heart of an adventurer once she actually gets going. She's more inclined to do something if someone else does it with her. She lacks confidence in some areas of her life.
Lizzie does react well to situations filled with violence and/or conflict, remaining calm and willingly able to assist anyone.
Although others may not see it, Lizzie admires the brave, outgoing and friendly, wishing to change her personality but not realizing she can be all of those things if she really wants to be.
Lizzie loves books and reading. While she travels anywhere, be it with her family or on her own journey, she keeps a detailed record of flora, fauna, the native culture etc. She loves to write and because her mother has dragged her to every holiday destination possible, it seemed the only logical thing to her - record her findings. She hoped that one day, they may prove useful to her. She writes in small, leather bounded books that coincidentally match her bag.
Lizzie really detests loud and obnoxious people, the complete opposite of her own personality.
History: Lizzie's childhood held nothing out of the ordinary. She went to school, did her chores and dreamt and wished that her life was something else. In the big city of Lilycove, Lizzie was the girl to blend in, the one no one ever knew was there. This didn't really affect her though, she was ultimately happy to be left to her own devices.
Pokemon use to scare Lizzie as a child even though her father, a 'retired' promising trainer in his hay-day, had Pokemon with him. Lizzie's father would try very hard to get her to like playing with his patient Electabuzz but as a small child, Lizzie never took to them. It was only recently, when many of her peers left on journeys of their own did she stop and think, if my own father did it, why can't I?
An event Lizzie doesn't remember too well was her father leaving their family. Even as a young child, Lizzie knew her parents weren't part of the happy family she has known little of. It was something that, previous questions had answered, Lizzie was unable to control. Lizzie's only seen her father a couple of times since that year.
Her teenage years held part time jobs at the art gallery, study and more dreaming and wishing that she coud leave on a journey. When the time finally arrived, and from a person she'd heard little about, she hesitantly accepted the challenge, urged on my her mother who insisted this 'Lance' figure had probably known her father. Her mother really hoped a journey like this would help Lizzie grow and learn as a person.

Name: Sephear Deldar (Sephy)
Age: 16
Gender: Male
Appearance: Sephy has short blonde hair and pale skin, his eyes change colors, they seem blue far away, but up close it can be seen that they are green, but at times people have claimed to see them as yellow, or even red. He is about 6"4 and generally wears a plain white shirt with a short, buttoned split going down from the collar about 5 inches with 3 buttons, he is so tall and thin that he can't find jeans that actually are long enough and tight enough, so he has a plain black belt with a pokeball buckle. (Strikit, if you accept me I would love to have you sprite him.)
Personality: Sephy is generally kind and a very good listener, but he is also pretty lazy, but he is very willing to help with the problems of others if they are at least a little interesting or he can get something out of it. Sephy loves to eat despite his shape, especially cheese, he is talkative with those he knows but quiet when they're not around, he is also very shy around girls he doesen't know if they are anything other than ugly, he tends to worry too much about what others think.
History: Sephy's Father is a trainer who once managed to win at the Pokemon League, which is a big part of why Sephy is interested in being a Pokemon Trainer, his mother fell in love with his father while she was watching him at the pokemon league, when they talked between battles, it quickly became obvious how much they had in common and how much they liked each other.
Sephy wanted to become a Pokemon Trainer as soon as he started learning about them, which is why he was mad at his father for a long time when on his 10th birth day, when most trainers start out, he was told he couldn't start out yet, saying "It does not feel like the right time yet, trust me, I had no interest in pokemon at all until I was 17, and look how I turned out."
Shear never had many friends, because he wasn't muscular and most of the kids near his age in the small little town he lived in were girls so...well if you payed attention earlier you can guess the problem there, luckily this made it easier for him to leave when his father got the call from Lance, who he had made friends with at the Pokemon League, and their battle afterwards.
Now that he is in Hoenn, Sephy is extremely excited to get on his journey, especially after all the extra waiting, although he does not yet know the full reasons behind why he is there, he just knows that his father is going to lead him to Prof. Birch, where he'll be getting his first pokemon and taking his first step on the long journey ahead.
Despite not even having started his journey as a trainer, Sephy is extremely talented at battling, mainly because he can almost always guess his opponent's move right before they make it, in his very first battle, which was against his father, he barely lost to his father's Nidoking with a Riolu, a borrowed Riolu, at the amazing outcome Koam couldn't resist calling his old friend Lance, which was probably a big part of why he was chosen even though he hasn't even caught a pokemon yet. Professor Birch gave Sephy a Scyther to start his journey with, but Koam had a better idea, the Riolu Sephy battled with that very first time, Sephy was so happy, but at the same time he felt bad for giving up Scyther
Appearance: Fyora isn't all that tall. Though she stands at a mere five feet and three inches, she's more than satisfied with her small size and stature. Long, curly, mahogany hair does whatever it pleases if she does not take a few minutes a day to at least hairspray it. The problem with that is she rarely does, just as she often elects not to wear makeup. On most days she's content to be fairly messy-haired and go about with the light complexion she was born with. You can be sure if she does actually make some effort she's either quite happy or something out of the ordinary is going to occur that day. Her eyes can't be described with a single color, simply for the fact that they change hue as often as her moods change. In fact, her eyes change with her mood. After someone takes the time to get to know her, her eye color can be a good indicator of how she feels. Taking the cue from her older brother, whom she very much adores and looks up to, she has a lip ring situated to the right side of her bottom lip. Her pale skin and pointed features point to an eastern heritage.
As for her wardrobe, she's certainly not up to date with the latest fashions, nor would she like to be. Her favorite shoes are a pair of woebegone black-grey Converse, though they may have just been black at one time. Blue jeans are her friend. She often keeps her favorite pairs until they're too ripped to permissibly wear in public. Lackadaisical in her selection of shirts, she finds one she likes, buys it, and wears it until it no longer fits, or like her jeans, cannot be worn in public any longer. Due to the fact that her Sneasel likes to perch on her shoulders and is not careful where he digs his claws in, she often wears a long black coat of thin enough material so that it breathes, but thick enough that it keeps his claws out and if he gets aggravated and lets out a jet of cold air it won't be unbearable. On the inside of the jacket there are two pockets. One is filled with empty Pokeballs for use to catch wild Pokemon, and the other contains six balls with her team. The coat itself is of sentimental value from her, as it was given to her by her older brother Korbin when he grew too big to wear it. Though that was when she was just twelve it's still large on her and she has to roll the sleeves back to use her hands.
Personality: Having been raised with three brothers, Fyora isn't the most feminine girl. She much prefers comfort to being aesthetically pleasing, and is more likely to get along with males as friends than other females. Respect is not hard to earn from her, unless you already have it, then do something to lose it. If you are unable to win her respect you will be lucky to have merit placed on anything you say or think. Though she tries not to be unpleasantly cruel, Fyora has little tolerance for the flaws of others, and if the flaws are severe and obvious enough it is likely she'll lose control and say something about it. At the same time, she has flaws of her own. The line between arrogance and confidence is very thin in her world. She's generally quite confident in her own abilities, as well as those of her Pokemon. But if something happens to prove just how well she or they are doing she may grow overly confident, diving headfirst into situations she is unable to handle, and thus facing a blistering defeat that puts her back in her place. You would think she'd learn from it, but it's an endless cycle. As far as intellect goes, Fyora isn't stupid. While she's not a prodigy she tends to have a better grasp on things like language and art than most. Her excellence in those subjects is paid for by her incapacity to learn, comprehend, and remember mathematical formulas and methods.
History: Fyora was one of four children born to Artur and Delilah Roschel. She was the only girl, and as such grew up as most young boys would, having belching contests at dinner when her mother's back was turned and playing bloody knuckles. Only the youngest brother, Darin, would play games that involved physical pain with her, however. The elder two, Korbin and Esthin, always seemed afraid they would hurt her. Often, she iterated that was the point, to see who could stand it the longest, but they still refused.
For the first six years of her life, Fyora and her family lived in Violet City. Life there was unremarkable, with her mother working at the Pokemart, and her father an adviser for the gym leader Falkner. Being an ex-trainer himself, he gave the young leader tips on how to improve his strategy and which additions to his team he ought to make. After stepping in for Falkner on a day when he was sick, he remembered his passion for Pokemon, and decided to move to Blackthorn City and begin training under Clair. Fyora and her brothers all disliked the small town, but they tried to stomach it for their father, as they had never seen him so happy. Their mother opened her own shop where she sold remedies for the many problems that afflict humans and their Pokemon at as low a cost as she could; there was great money in working with Clair, so the family was in no danger of going under.
There, Fyora began her education. Korbin and Esthin had already begun school in Violet City, but had not finished. Therefore they were aghast to discover the attendance at Blackthorn Academy was so small, they were in the same class as their younger brother and sister. Fyora, on the other hand, was thrilled. She elected to sit next to Korbin, always having been closest to him, and thrived with his direction where the teacher's failed.
When she was ten, a trainer stopped at her mother's shop with a clutch of four eggs that one of his Pokemon, he did not say what species, had laid. He seemed reluctant to part with them, but said that there had been too many times on the Ice Path when he had been afraid he would drop them, resulting in them breaking, extinguishing the lives of the developing embryos. If that was any indication of how the trip down the mountain would be, he did not want to risk it. Sympathetic to the young man, Fyora's mother awarded she and her three brothers each with one of the eggs with instructions to be as careful with them as they would if it was their own child. Fyora took that more seriously than any of them. On that day she began to carry the egg with her everywhere. It stayed in her lap in school, despite the teacher's protests. It went to bed with her, on its own separate pillow next to her head to eliminate the risk of her rolling over on top of it. She rubbed it down once a day with a damp lukewarm cloth, and if she was parted with it for a moment she would be filled with anxiety until it was in her arms again.
Her careful parenting paid off two weeks after she was given the egg. During an english lecture at school the egg began to quake. It took Fyora a few moments to realize what was happening, but when she did she set it on her desk, steadying it with her hands on either side. As the noise coming from within the shell increased students and teacher alike became aware of the sound and no longer able to concentrate. Reluctantly, the teacher allowed them to watch the birth of the baby Pokemon.
Fyora refused to touch the egg besides making sure it did not roll too much, nor would she let anyone else, for her mother had warned her not to help the baby out of the egg, or else she might accidentally injure it. She took the words as law and remained still and silent, filled with anticipation. After several minutes a tiny crack appeared along the top of the egg. The room instantly became several degrees cooler, and many people began to shiver slightly. Fyora was not one of them; she had never had an aversion to cold. A paw forced its way out of the crack, followed by an ear. The force on the shell was enough to shatter it, leaving a tiny baby Sneasel where the egg had been.
Fyora had been thrilled beyond belief, seeing as Sneasel had always been her favorite Pokemon, and an ice type at that! Maybe someday she would be able to beat Clair, maybe even her father. Due to the circumstances, as well as the fact that the children would not have focused on the work anyway, the teacher dismissed her students twenty minutes early. She went home slowly and carefully with the fragile Sneasel in her arms, so as not to injure him. He blinked up at her with adoring eyes; since she had been the first thing he saw, he had determined that she was his birthgiver. His paws were small, but his claws stuck out awkwardly. Like a newborn kitten, he did not have the muscular capability to retract his dangerous weapons yet. As a result Fyora sustained many scratches from his young life, which turned to scars on her arms, lower legs, and abdomen.
From that point on they were inseparable, especially since her beloved brother Korbin went off to train his own hatched Sneasel, Helena. Esthin and Darin's Sneasel were born not long after. Esthin followed his brother's example and left, though Darin stayed home, being only nine years old. He dubbed his new female companion Icy, while Fyora named her own Razor, inspired by the many times he had accidentally caught her with his claws. The siblings and their Pokemon grew closer than ever, to the point that they were impossible to separate. They even decided to start training together as a team.
A Flygon came the morning Fyora and Darin were getting ready to leave to bring her a letter. Fyora was confused and unable to figure out who would want to write to her until she read it. She had never considered herself to be a particularly outstanding person. She just communicated well with Razor, and was the daughter of a celebrated gym leader. Did that truly set her apart? Whether she thought so or not, obviously Lance did. She had to think quite critically for several hours before she went downstairs and called her older brother for advice and guidance.
Korbin picked up. She told him Lance had written to her and asked her to join him in Hoenn. He congratulated her on being noticed by such a prestigious master. After some discussion they decided he would come home for a week to congratulate her properly and see her off, then head to New Bark that next Saturday.
Fyora went upstairs and made sure everything was packed. The following morning Korbin came home, where he was overjoyed to see Fyora and Darin, though he was bemused by the fact that Esthin was not there. No one had heard from him recently, besides learning he had been granted a gym leader's license in Hoenn. It was suggested that she go see him when she made her trip, to make sure he was alright. She agreed to it and readied herself for the start of her training.

Name: James Johnson
Age: 17
Gender: Male
Appearance: Being in a gym almost 24/7 doesn't help with picking up chicks.His hair is now a chocolaty brown from the lack of sunlight, while is skin is almost a ghostly pale. Looking at his face, he looks almost void of life, and the dark brown eyes don't help any. A "Normal" looking face, no freckles, moles, or scars.
James was last seen wearing a black, hooded, cloak. When standing still, his cloak covers his knees, but when moving, or just after, his cloak stops at his waist. Under his cloak, he appears to be wearing a grey shirt with red horizontal stripes. When not standing still, he also seems to be wearing black cargo shorts. For some reason he looks like he once was a happier, and brighter boy in his youth, and that with age, he has not only grown more mature, but also darker in his outward appearance.
Personality: James is one of those people who just don't seem to belong, but still blends in. Not with people, but with the shadows. The only recent time he has been spotted was at night, alone and hidden in his cloak.
He has been through a lot, and even his appearance has been changed by it. Now he is almost completely emotionless. Precise when battling, swift whenever else. James works alone, and will complete a task for whomever, whatever the cost. Two of his only surviving traits from his traumatic past is his loyalty, and courage.
History: It seems that James has lost most, if not all, of his memories, but it may be for the better.
James wasn't always as he now appears. In his youth, he had light brown hair, deep brown eyes, and a pale white complexion. He had no cloak, and he wore tan cargo pants, instead of his now black cargo shorts. But the most dramatic difference was his face. He seemed so young and full of life, ready for anything thrown at him. All that life has since been drained from his face.
He grew up in a small town, in between a mountain and a large city. He was given a Growlithe for his seventh birthday. He was absorbed by his new friend. At the age of twelve, he asked his parents if he could travel the world. After finding a older companion for him, they accepted. His companion's name was Alice.
She was 15 when they set out, and was studying for a grant to help pay for college. Alice came from a large family of 5 kids, where she was the oldest. She was caring and looked after her siblings, but also knew that her parents didn't have a lot of money. When she decided to go to college, to study to become a professor in English, she knew she couldn't ask her parents for help. Alice was able to travel, studying how pokemon communicate, and take classes in the cities around the continent.
Upon coming to James' town, she was taken on as his care taker. Together the traveled, and saw the continent. James still kept close contact with his parents (Who would let their kid run around the continent with only a 15 year old family friend?). While traveling, James mailed his sister every week, and called his parents twice a week. It's not easy basically living like a hobo, so James would sell wild berries he found, and his parents would send him some money too. By 13 he decided to take on the gym leaders.
For the next year he fought his way trough them, one by one with his faithful Growlithe. He spent the next half of a year training in all the different biomes that were offered. Before her turned 15 he set off to fight the elite four. Upon getting to the end of victory road, relief had set in. Just the, however, James and Alice were caught in a freak earthquake. Right before the ceiling caved in, Growlithe pushed James and Alice out of the way. Growlithe was trapped in a separate room. James was then thrown to the ground, after his attempts to stay up. Helpless he watched as the ceiling caved in around Alice next. In seconds his whole life had been lost. James was the only survivor from that day. The next day reporters swarmed the cave in site, but James was no where to be found. Papers, and news shows told of the cave in for the next week, about how 3 people had gone in earlier that day, and were never found.
James then spent the next two years in hiding. He has found the comforting arms of the void gym, and has only recently resurface with a new look, new attitude, and new life.

Name: Nikifor "Niki" Alabaster
Age: 26
Gender: Male
Appearance: Niki is a man that has had it rough, and it shows. Because of this, his features are acute, never been dulled in any way possible. He has no skin blemishes of any sort, no freckles, no pimples, no anything. He has never burned, as he only tans. As a man in, or around his prime, he exerts a lot of testosterone, and because of that, is physically fit.
Shoulder-length, red hair hangs down. It is left alone, he has no time do to style it or anything of the sort. His hair is crazy, and sticks out all over the place. (Kind of like Zelos from TOS, but shorter hair.) Steel-Grey eyes seem more like a lifeless void, reflecting no emotion. That, however, is his game face. It gives most a chill when they meet his gaze, the creepiness that is brought about by no emotion. He wears what most would consider a rather complex outfit A pair of black skinny jeans are his substitute for stockings; everything is black, except the buttons. A black over coat made of a weather and flame resistant material has red trimming. A black cavalier hat is adorned with a feather. A pair of black and red boots are good for long treks over any surface.
Personality: Although Niki doesn't show his emotion, that isn't to say that he has none. In fact, he is quite a fill with tons of emotions. He believes that emotions make you weak, the compassion you feel for people, it is all just chemicals mixing and combining in your brain. Once you learn to take control of those chemicals, do you finally become a threat. He believes that he has reached the stage, where he controls his emotions, making him the predator and not the prey.
Cold and calculating, he dare not make a mistake, a mistake could be the factor between life and death. Nothing matters but winning and getting stronger. The stronger you are, the more power you have. The more power you have, the better off you are. Niki's life is based on following his leader, his protector, and his master, Esthin. Many say that because he gave up his compassion, and has blindly devoted his life to a clearly insane man, he has lost his humanity, but he couldn't care less. If being human causes him to change his life, he doesn't want to be one. Occasionally he will have a mental lapse in which he regains what people consider humanity, these lapses. however, are brief.
History: Niki had a great life, in fact, a life that would be envied by most. He was rich, and could afford anything he wanted. He enjoyed that life, but it was missing something. The challenges, the hard ships, they weren't there. So, he left his family in seek of the life. Of course, when things went wrong, he wanted back into the sweet life, his family, however, refused to accept him in because of the rash way that he handled things. So, he continued on his on.
At this point, his life was hell. With not even a proper home, he lived where ever he could find a dry spot. He was the scum of the planet, hated by most everyone. The only thing that he had going for him was battling, when he was younger, he was the best, a battling prodigy he was decreed by some. Still, people treated him like absolute garbage. His training methods, all of that seemed to brutal, too dangerous, and everyone hated him for it. No matter where he went, he found no solace.
Then, one day, cold, wet and starving, he was about to keel over. He had nothing left except for a pair of tattered clothes, all his pokemon, anything worth any sort of money was lost, stolen from him (He is determined to get his pokemon back if given the chance.) On the brink of what would be certain death, a man tripped over him. The man helped the distraught Nikifor to his feet, his intentions were unclear at the time, but the boy(at this time he was probably around nineteen) had grown a fondness to the man, and vowed to return the favor.

Name:Christopher Sterling Royel
Age: 18
Gender: Male
Appearance:Christopher has sharp angular features, though his nose is quite small compared to the rest of his face. He has large dusty blue eyes, with his eyebrows are narrowed toward each other in a disapproving glare. Christopher's lips are full and naturally bright red. He keeps his rather long, raven-black hair side-sweeped to his right, and combs it regularly, though the wind often ruins his hard work. Christopher has grown very fit from his travels, though he is still rather thin, as if his muscle simply gets leaner, instead of bigger. In a word, Christopher is a "string-bean." He has long legs and will often walk with a bold, "Don't mess with me," stride. Sadly the affect is ruined by Christopher's lanky form. In a weird contrast Christopher is barrel-chested, with a thin, short neck. Christopher wears blue jeans that are slightly worn for traveling. His shirt is plain white and obviously often used. Christopher's worn cotton jacket is black and soft and is used to keep Christopher warm on those nights when one wants to curl up with some hot cocoa.
Personality: Christopher is a tactical and hardened battler. He's seen the worst parts of battles and the best. He believes that strategy can win any battle, and is amazingly good at using the battle styles of each of his indivual pokemon. He does not accept defeat lightly and will give out harsh punishment in the form of training to the point of exhaustion (not only for his pokemon, but also for himself). Christopher is considered rash, though he puts it as being "Sure of one's own abilities, and acting upon that surety." Under his hardened character is an amazingly soft and understanding person, but his parents taught him to suppress all emotions, and to be a "good little boy." Sadly, one thing Christopher hates is being called "Chris." He continually will ask to be called "Christopher." He taught himself to separate himself from his pokemon, as they are to "better the name of his family." Yet, Christopher grew to see his pokemon as business partners of a sort, and Christopher and his pokemon still have a mutual acquaintance.
History:Christopher lived the life of a rich, show boy. His mother owns a growing business that consults for high prices, while his father is a well to do lawyer. With the family's growing reputation, Christopher's father pushed his son to become a pokemon trainer, for "The family image." His mother believed that the perfect child was a quiet, obedient child, and Christopher upheld that image. Sadly, when he did talk he sounded cold from his emotional separation. He was in turn treated with hatred by the other kids, and Christopher grew into the man he is today. When he traveled on his journey, Christopher caught a team of top pokemon. He had attained all the gym badges; he spent years training, and beating the Elite Four. Then he faced the ultimate challenge. He fought the Hoenn Champion … and lost. Christopher was utterly destroyed in that battle, and he didn't forget. Soon afterward, a week before his eighteenth birthday, Christopher released his pokemon as failures. They now continually train in their respected environments, hoping to someday gain their original trainer's respect again. On his eighteenth birthday Christopher received a letter from the mysterious "Void Gym." More importantly from Esthin. Apparently Esthin had taken a special interest in Christopher, and he said that he could help Christopher train to be the best. That Christopher would beat the Hoenn Champion through the power of dark types. Christopher was curious and entranced. He had gotten all his gym badges before the Void Gym was created.

Name: Elyssa Karis Renoira (Prefers to be called Karis.)
Age: 17
Appearance: Generally, Karis wears tight fitting dark jeans with a plain black belt, and a short, long sleeved black shirt. Over the shirt she wears a black jacket zipped up three quarters of the way. She's already fairly tall at 5'5", but she wears combat boots that elevate her another inch. In her pocket, Karis keeps a tie for her long bluish violet hair in her pocket so that if she comes to a situation where it gets in the way, she can just tie it back. Her eyes are a cold icy grey color. Coupled with her pale skin and hair, they give off an aura of burning iciness. She keeps her nails on long-fingered pale hands long and sharp, and sometimes polishes them black to match the rest of her outfit. Around her neck Karis wears a black collar-style choker with a round metal ring in the front, as though to clip a leash to. Altogether her appearance gives off an impression of angst. Secretly, however, her favorite socks are bright orange with light blue smilie faces.
Personality: Cynical, misanthropic, and sarcastic, Karis does not play well with the other children. She prefers to keep the number of people she associates with small and exclusive, seeing as most people are in her experience lacking in intelligence, manners, and interesting things to say. Those she does get close to are generally males, as she finds that in the teenage years too many girls are concerned with their hair or clothes or latest breakup, and she wants nothing to do with any of these things. She does have a few female companions, though they're few and far between. When she does find someone she cares for she's loyal to a fault. Luckily, however, she rarely cares so much for someone who hasn't proven themselves one way or another.
Despite her cold exterior, Karis is a nurturer. She thrives when she has something or someone to take care of. This could perhaps be the root psychological reason for her love of Pokemon. She's had pets of various species her entire life. A recurring theme among them is that they were shelter or abandoned Pokemon, or endangered in some other way. Anyone who had been to her home before she left it to join the Void Gym would be astounded by how many pet Pokemon she had, and how well cared for and happy they all were. Surprisingly, she does not like kids and never wishes to have them. Karis does not take an emotional approach to things. Logic is her way, and her mind works strategically and analytically.
Karis adores Esthin. Far from a brother sister relationship, she constantly tries to impress him enough so that he will love her like she loves him. She knows that his emotions have been dulled and shredded by endless training with his Dark Pokemon, but she still manages to hope that somehow or another he'll see her as more than a trainee.
History: In 1957 Karis's grandparents immigrated to the Johto region and settled in Goldenrod. They met little success when attempting to start a ranch for Tauros and Miltank. Their son, however, offered the idea to sell the cow-like Pokemon and instead buy Ponyta and Rapidash to breed for recreational animals. It was a risky venture but they decided to do so. By the time Raymond Renoira was twenty six he was living in an extra house built off of the original with the money produced from the instant success of the business. The endeavor had given Raymond enough confidence to decide to enter the world of race Pokemon. He bought a stallion Rapidash by the name of Brine and Dandy. He turned out not to be an instant winner, though he did receive a phone call from a young woman named Diana McNiel. She owned a young Ponyta, and wanted to purchase Brine and Dandy's sire services. He agreed to meet with her the following day, and when he did it was instant chemistry. Their Pokemon produced a foal they registered as Dandy Lion, who became a success when he was just two years old. To celebrate his win of the Kentucky Derby Diana and Raymond married, she twenty seven, and he twenty eight. A year later Karis was born. Her parents loved her dearly, and bought her anything she desired, or anything they thought she desired.
She grew up happy and well cared for, as well as naïve. Everyone and everything was Karis's new friend, from Bug Pokemon to other children. Socially, Karis blossomed and had no trouble making and keeping friends, until she hit her teenage years. As often happened, her clothing darkened along with her outlook on life. She hit the gloom and doom stage hard at thirteen and fourteen, thus distancing herself from a number of her childhood friends. Those who stayed with her, she grew even closer to until they became more like family than just friends. She grew out of the darkness somewhat, though sarcasm and cynicism stayed with her.
Always having been a fan of Dark Pokemon, when the Void Gym in Hoenn was publicized Karis knew what she wanted to do with her life. She said goodbye to her friends, family, and pet Pokemon and traveled to Mossdeep immediately. When she arrived Esthin gave her a new outlook on life, though he did not offer her a Pokemon yet. He told her she would have to earn it, to prove herself worthy of owning a Pokemon he had hand chosen. She took the challenge willingly, doing whatever he asked of her. When he told her he would need a number of his trainees to keep Lance from getting too involved in the gym's affairs, Karis jumped at the chance to impress him.

4. The RP has been rated PG-13 not only for mild to moderate violence, but also because I expect a bit of maturity here. Slight cursing is not punishable by law, but keep it to a minimum.

Since steffyace left, you can have Eevee. We're not far in, so it shouldn't be that much of a change. In case I erased the catch on Eevee, I don't remember if I did, it must evolve into an Umbreon. Or, you could switch sides, in which case it can evolve into whatever you want.

Haha, sounds good, I think I might switch over to Lance's side since there are only 3 there, and change Eevee to an Glaceon when the time is appropriate. I'll write an SU asap.
I might have read it already, but is it each person (Lance and Esthium) that is recruiting our characters? If and when should I jump to Lances side? Within the SU?
Also is it okay if I link you to my fanfiction for RP sample (the fanfic in question is in this case is on this forum)? I've RPed here before, but I'm sure the posts for such are gone now. Though there is the more recent stuff too I think. XD
You're given the Eevee by Esthin in your first post. It's almost like the regular get Pokemon, beat gyms story, except there's a higher motive here. So take your young Eevee, do the challenges, then switch sides at some point, whenever you like. It can then evolve into Glaceon.
Your fic will be fine for an RP sample, one can still tell someone's writing style from that.
Another question, if I wanted my character to be confronted by Professor Birch, should I let you do his response, or should I get your permission first before I use him? It's really only to instigate my character's side changeover.
Ooh, Strikit, I should tell you. The reason that Christopher is scheming right outside your door, is so that you can slam open the door and snarl at him.
Also, good job organizing the pokemon on the route.
(And if a starly can be found on your route, then that means that eventually I may be able to evolve Murkrow! Mwahahahaha!)
I've been feeling very Mwahaha-ish lately. Even in the real world. Even wierder, is that I don't mind.

I would assume we will probably be at least on the next town over, I know I don't see any pokemon I want on route 101, but that's okay, I take it slow on catching pokemon anyways.
