I'm one of those people who - after a certain hour of the day - I start getting paranoid if I'm walking alone that someone is following me, that the car sitting up ahead has kidnappers in it, and pretty much everyone is out to rape, kidnap, or murder me. They're not out of their house because they have to do something, nope, they're out because they have the intentions to rape, kidnap, or murder me. Do you feel safe leaving your house when the sun has set, around 11:00 PM (23:00), with headphones in your ears?

Yeah, especially out at my grandfather's house in the middle of nowhere. There's miles of trails through the forest there, and it's so peaceful at night.

loooool

On warm nights I go out for walks usually around 10pm - 12am or if its late into the summer I'll head out around three in the morning or so. I just find it very relaxing especially the later you go. If it's in the early morning hours then I usually don't walk with music because I like to enjoy the peacefulness over any music I have. If I go at more normal night hours then I most likely have my headphones in.

lool yeah as I said in the other thread, I have been out alone past dark many times, often past midnight. Either just for a walk, or walking back home from a night out. I have never experienced hassle once and I honestly think the perceived increase in danger is either just a media myth or over-exaggerated; not in the sense that it doesn't happen, just that it's not more likely to happen at night than in the day.

Both myself and everyone I know who has ever been attacked, mugged or given hassle has experienced it during daytime or early evening; that's when all the kids get out of school. Plus there's always a ton of irritating people out during the day, I'd say I prefer the night in every aspect.

Although that said, I think it varies between different areas.

I don't mind going out for a walk when it is dark to be honest. I like how there is no one around and I can basically do what I want. I can be really reckless though, I am never looking over my shoulder when I am out late.

I try to be more mentally alert during the night. There's a reason why most crimes take place during the darkness of the night after all. That being said, I have no problems masquerading through the blackest shadows either. This one time I was walking back home at around 8pm say, and I see this gang of ten or so teenagers (reckon they were around 15-17 years old) loitering around. I walked passed them (was around 5-10 metres away from them) and I give a side glance out of the corner of my eye. Definitely one but maybe two of them were carrying baseball bats. A couple of them glance back at me but fortunately they were not stupid enough to try anything on me. I mean picture me with my overcoat wrapped around my body traversing through the streets at night. I PROBABLY LOOK LIKE A FREAKING MASS MURDERER AT NIGHT LOL. If I was someone else and I saw myself walking down the street, I sure as hell would not pick a fight. Think I went on a bit of a tangent there lol.

Sometimes yes, sometimes no. I've been attacked once before and I'm always aware of when and where I go at night. I never go anywhere I don't think I could escape from if I had to and I avoid places I don't know well.

I used to bring a knife with me in my bag. I didn't intend to use it, or think I'd be able to use it well, or even believe it would be all that threatening. It was just a little bit of courage. I don't need that anymore, but I've been meaning to get a can of wasp spray. That stuff is as good as pepper spray, but has a longer range and better accuracy. Plus you can just buy the stuff anywhere.

Yeah, you can say I'm a little worried about nasty, evil people out there.

I actually used to go run at midnight every day, and I still go for walks after dark all the time. Doesn't bother me in the slightest.

Then again, maybe it should... there's certainly a lot more crime in this town than the one I used to live in. Like a week ago, the cops were chasing a couple guys, and they hid in our backyard, because it was so dark. So, yeah... not as safe as where I used to live, but if I think anyone's coming I always avoid them.

When I was a child I wouldn#t go into the cellar at night because I was convinced there were bears hiding in the dark, but I have no problems with being outside, as long as I don't have to go into the forest. Boars, rabid foxes (well, rabid foxes officially haven't been existing anymore for quite a while around here, but the fear is always there)...

I am, by the way, negatively surprised by the lack of an Iron Maiden reference.

Alone? No. Chances are you won't be seeing me going out alone on a walk in the dark very often. Not because I'm scared or anything, but because I just don't find as much enjoyment in going out on walks alone. However, going on walks with others in a different matter. My sister and I have gone outside pretty late, such as two in the morning. Just one of the many silly things that we do while hanging out. ♥

I wouldn't, but not for those reasons.
I wouldn't for the fact that I'm surrounded by forest and etc. I'm not afraid of people as much as getting attacked by some wild animal -.-

I don't lik ebeing out in pure darkness. I've seen way too much dateline, and it scares me >.<

Maybe if I'm with someone I can trust, or a lot of people, but thats it.

I don't ever go walking at night, but that's mostly because I'm lazy lol. I don't have any real fear in the area where I live that someone is coming to kill me. But I don't think I'd venture out of the immediate area I live in because once you start getting on main roads with trees and stuff, that's where the rapeyness begins to happen.

Oh, and I'd also avoid the park near my house. Tons of rape and murder happens in parks.

My rule is, if the sun is down, there better be a damn good excuse for me to be walking home. We're in a relatively safe town, but I'm a 5' tall woman with no means to defend myself. If someone wants to attack me they are going to win.

That said, I have walked in the dark around 10PM in this town before for about 3/4 of a mile and had nothing happen to me. I just reaaaaaally don't like risking it.

So no, I wouldn't be comfortable at 11pm with my headphones on. :(

No, I don't feel safe when I go out for walks during the night in public places on my own. There could be a risk I could get mugged or hit by a car.

Loollll. When I'm out walking alone when it's dark, I get a little paranoid. Funny thing is that I feel completely okay if I have my dog with me even though she's a chicken. Just the fact that she's pretty big reassures me. Lmao.
