    Introduction

    Hello there! Welcome to the world of Pokémon! This world is full of mystery, wonderous creatures, and a darkness often ignored by the blissfully ignorant trainers that travel the planet. To most people, the worst things to happen are a few Gyarados destroying lakes or the one or two times the entire planet may have nearly been destroyed by a few crazed lunatics. Other than these rare events, the world of Pokémon is a peaceful and carefree place, right?

    Unfortunately, that's not the case. Every day Pokémarts are robbed, people's homes are broken into, and the occasional Pokécenter is burned down. More people are being beaten and killed each day by gangs as police forces gradually care less and less about the chaos surrounding them. Gym leaders are practically the only true defenders of justice left as cops are constantly bribed to look the other way or even lend a helping hand when laws are broken. With all this madness it's becoming clear to some that the world is darker than it seems.​

    Story
    ​

    After the second fall of Team Rocket at the Goldenrod Radio Station, a splinter group retreated to their base in the Sevii Islands, renaming themselves Team Deus. Here, under the leadership of Darrius Argo, they began research on the possibility of transferring Pokémon DNA into humans. Dubbed Project Zenith, the goal of this research was to enable humans to wield powers known only to Pokémon. Argo hoped that by harnessing this power within the human form, his now crumbled organization would rise to power once again.

    The experiments started with the injection of Caterpie DNA into Rattata. After months of trial and error the first successful Bug-Type Rattata had been created. Pleased with the results, Argo chose to skip further Pokémon testing and jump right into human experimentation. Given that humans don't naturally have the capabilities of containing elemental power his initial volunteers failed to exhibit any sign of being able to use abilities. Deus scientists theorized that exposing humans to harsher elements related to their new DNA sequences may unlock their true potential, thus resulting in a series of violent experimentation. Wave one of volunteers was subjected to excruciating torture, related to their typing, including high voltage electrotherapy, becoming engulfed in flames, drowned, and even being buried alive. None of the initial volunteers for the experiment survived testing. In response, Argo ordered his underlings to retrieve "volunteers" from mainland Kanto to provide a constant flow of test subjects without losing his own people. Men, women, and children alike have been kidnapped from all over the Kanto region for scientific study. As expected, all of the test subjects met a fatal end as trial after trial resulted in failure to survive the lethal experiments.

    Now, five years after their retreat to the Sevii Islands, Team Deus has finally succeeded in forming proper DNA combinations that could enable their test subjects to survive testing, thus creating what Argo has named, for lack of a better term, "Hybrids". Human mentally, emotionally, and in physical appearance, but with Pokémon DNA coursing through their veins, enabling them to use the elemental powers they have been "gifted" with. Five years of failure. Five years of countless Pokémon and Human casualties. Five years of never-ending research has finally led to this moment.

    Now, as the latest batch of test subjects step out of their cells for Team Deus to examine, will the young hybrids submit to further testing or use their newly acquired powers to escape the darkness that has held them captive?

    4: Romance is allowed, but nothing more than kissing. (Just because this is technically a family website does not mean we need to be making families.)
    4.5: Please, for the love of Arceus, no shipping wars. This isn't the fricken bachelor or trigonometry, we don't need awkward love triangles all over the damn place! While romance is acceptable it is not the main focus of this role play. (I may just be venting with this one but my point still stands)
    5: Players can engage in combat with each other. (With consent of course)
    5.5: This also means no killing another player-character without their permission

    Appearance: At only 4' 11", Neil looks younger than he is, with messy blond hair and large brown eyes. He is very thin, and his skin is lightly tanned and covered in scars. He'll wear anything that fits, currently rocking blue jeans and a brown canvas jacket, but he doesn't like shoes.

    Personality: Highly curious, Neil likes to ask a lot of questions and squeeze himself into small spaces where others can't reach. He has no sense of personal space, and often takes things without asking, especially food and shiny things. He apparently doesn't know what fear is, and is a bit of a thrill seeker.

    Background: Neil always had to compete with his siblings for attention. Between his drama queen older sister, jock big brother, and "adorable" baby sister, Neil was the scrawny nerd who liked drawing and fantasy novels. His dad spent all day at work, and his mom seemed content to leave him to his own devices as long as he didn't break anything. The family trip to Fuchsia City and the Safari Zone was supposed to be a chance for some real bonding, to help them all connect. Too bad they left Neil behind when they went home. Neil waited for them, but they didn't come back, and he was forced to try and find his own way back. So he set out across the country, living off the land and the kindness of strangers where he could. He made it all the way to Celadon City, where he spent a few weeks living behind the department store, before he was hauled off the street and tossed into an unmarked van.

    Attack execution: Neil focuses his will on the electrical energy inside of him to use Charge, making his body glow with orange lightning. Quick Attack utilizes electricity to boost his speed for a split second, allowing him to dash forward at light speed. By focusing the electricity into his hands, he can either unleash a flurry of fast punches with Comet Punch or an electrically charged Thunder Punch.

    Personality​
    Reji has tried to get over his parents death and his naturally happy disposition has nearly taken over. Sadness plagues his eyes, but for the most part he is a friendly person. He, however, is not an outgoing person. Everyone at The Trainers School made fun of him because he was a nerd, and so in general he doesn't start conversations.
    Background​
    Starry Nights. These are the things Reji misses most about his home back at Cinnabar Island. Just lying on the beach under the Stars with his mother and father. He was nine whenever they died. His aunt took him in and tried to give him a loving home in Saffron city, but she was to poor to sustain her and him so she had to get a real job. She was given some of the money that he inherited, and while this was good for a few months it didn't last long.

    For days at a time he would hole himself up in his room without allowing his aunt to come in. Starvation was the thing that brought him out of his room most of the time. Eventually his aunt was fed up with it and burst into his room. She saw him sitting in a chair with his eyes closed. "Reji, I have enough of this! Your going to come out of this room and eat like a normal human being. begrudgingly he followed. Potatoes and Cabbage. It was the last meal they had together. It was about then that he volunteered for some kind of job on some islands. This was also her idea. He had no idea they would never see each other again, and even if he did he wouldn't care

    Hybrid Ability: Synchronize

    Hybrid Move-set: Moonlight, Curse, dark pulse, Protect

    Attack execution: He starts a fight by setting up a curse which envelopes his body in a shadow armor, then proceeds to use dark pulse. If he takes enough damage he summons the moon for a few seconds which heals him then it disapears. If fighting with a team member that can buff him, he also uses protect

    Shuichi Penumbra




    Name: Shuichi Penumbra
    Age: 19
    Gender: Male
    Appearance: Shuichi lacks muscle tone, and his features are meekly defined at best. His long hair and what some might consider a feminine dress style do not help this situation. At 5'10, Shuichi is a healthy height for a male his age, though his lack of muscle tone and pale skin make him look anything but healthy. He usually wears his hair in a high ponytail, with several strands that refuse to be tamed and slip out of the hold. When Shuichi smiles, some would describe it as a tired smile. His violet eyes are noted as having a peaceful look about them.


    Personality: Quiet, reserved, patient, intelligent. These are the words that describe Shuichi best. He has always preferred to analyze a situation and find a strategic path around it, rather than rushing in guns (or swords) blazing. One can often find him with his nose in a book, or tucked away in a corner on a PC. Shy does not quite describe the young man, for if you get to know him, he will put the book down, or step out of the corner, perhaps a better phrase is socially awkward, or, to be a little more scientific, extremely, extremely introverted.

    His dislike for confrontation, along with his easy going attitude and friendly demeanor, make him fairly easy for most to get along with. His own struggles have made him very sympathetic to the struggles and misfortunes of others, and he will almost always be willing to lend and ear to someone in need. If a call to action is needed in order to be seen as helpful, Shuichi will attempt (although if the action is physically demanding, he might not succeed).


    Background: Prior to becoming a lab Rattata , Shuichi's life was, at least to some extent, mundane. He lived with his mother, a scientist, his younger brother, and his father, at his father's dojo. Despite his physical frailty, it was still important to his parents that he learn a degree of martial arts and swordsmanship. Shuichi was always a quick learner, and picked up on the techniques rather quickly, even if his presentation could be a bit lacking, due to the aforementioned frailty.

    Since his illness kept him inside often as a child, rather than outside, playing with others his age, Shuichi sought out ways to keep himself entertained. Normally he found his escape in books, in particular, one on music. He managed to entertain himself for hours pecking away at the family piano, and eventually saved up enough allowance to purchase his own violin.

    Another topic that he found fascinating was, you guessed it, a book on Pokemon. Pokemon are fascinating. Pokemon battles, simply fascinating. Everything about these creatures that share this large world was amazing, and Shuichi hoped to dedicate himself to learning and experiencing everything these creatures had to offer.

    And then...that fateful day.

    Hybrid Moveset: Night Slash, Dark Pulse, Confusion, Future Sight
    Attack execution: Shuichi uses a combination of martial arts and a katana to unleash physical attacks, with the energy either being emitted from his fingertips, or the edge of a blade, while special attacks require intense mental focus, and the power pulsating from his body, often guided by his hand.

    Claire Sydney/ Female / 17 Years Old

    Appearance

    Claire stands at a height of roughly 5'4". Her hair is chocolate-brown in hue and she keeps it a bit on the shorter side, reaching down to just at her shoulders with the exception of one strand that she keeps in a rather long, tight braid. Combined with her fair skin complexion and sapphire-blue eyes, Claire can be quite easy on the eyes. Despite her short stature, she tries to keep herself looking somewhat intimidating at all times, often preferring to wear leather boots and jackets whenever she can. Claire is never seen without her necklace, which serves as a keepsake from her grandmother from back when she was a little girl.​

    Personality

    ​
    The words which best describe Claire are loud, abrasive, and rash. She tends to act first without thinking, often eager to resort to physical confrontation in order to get her way or keep herself ahead of others at all times. She is a firm believer in might being right, and will do little to try and listen to others reasoning in this regard. To put it simply, Claire is blunt. She is not scared to speak her mind and will let everyone in hear distance know just what she thinks about them or the situation occurring around them without so much as a second thought or apology if she should somehow manage to hurt their feelings. Claire has a lot of pride. She does not take losing easily, and she feels that relying on or asking others for help is a sign of weakness.​

    Born and raised in Vermilion City, one could say that Claire is a natural-born bad egg. She was constantly ditching school. She was known to break curfew on more than one occasion. She had a quite the habit of hanging around the wrong crowd. The girl would get into fights at the drop of a hat. It was the type of troubled-teen story you would most likely associate with a story on television. During her youth, Claire lived with her single mother, who struggled to make ends meet to support herself and her daughter. She often would be forced to work two jobs at once, leaving very little, if any, time at all to properly raise her daughter. In this regard, one can hardly be clueless on how the girl ended up in the sorry state she was in.

    Around the time of her sixteenth birthday, Claire had more or less officially dropped out of school and was known to be running around with a gang that was notorious within the city of Vermilion. While they were no where near the level of dangerous and depravity that groups such as Team Rocket was known for, they were still viewed as quite the batch of menaces. It was in this gang that Claire began to feel some sort of belonging to. During her childhood, she had only found herself with one strong connection, that being her grandmother. However after the elderly woman had passed away, the teenager felt alone... as if no one truly understood her or what made her tick. The gang though, they were different. They didn't always question her. They didn't go out of her way to harp on her over every little thing. Unlike her mother, they were actually around! It all seemed so perfect... At least, that's what Claire thought.

    One night, when the group was out vandalizing a delivery truck on the Vermilion City docks, they were busted in a surprise ambush by the local authorities. Through some means, Claire had managed to find herself getting left behind, with not a single soul of the gang offering her a helping hand. Claire's mother was distraught. She knew her daughter was quite the troublemaker, but she didn't know how to help. In the end, she was offered with one choice... sending her child to a juvenile detention center or to some new reform school supposedly located at the Sevii Islands...​

    When attacking with Play Rough or Triple Kick, Claire more or less throws herself at her opponent and merely uses her body as is. For Fairy Wind, Claire takes a deep breath. The air around her begins to glow a light blue, before she exhales and unleashes a strong gust of wind at her opponent. When using Bulk Up, Claire begins to glow with a deep, red energy. She then flexes her body, causing her muscles to thicken for a few moments.

    I've been debating waiting for a couple more people to join or not, but I think I'll submit the IC thread this Friday regardless of whether or not more people join before then. People can always join after it starters anyway.

    I am always up to join these RPs, I myself have wanted to bring it back in some form or another. But for now I am a bit clueless on making a character, so I think I will hold off for a bit unless I suddenly get an idea for a character.

    Glad you are bringing it back though. I have always thought the story had so so much potential, but struggled to get off the ground after the first attempt because of the time differences and what not.

    But I yeah, I feel the same way. DTiS has always had the potential to be a great story, it just needs a sufficient lifespan.
