Alex stopped playing his guitar, thinking it would make her feel even worse. Alex sighed. He felt he should say something to Rikki, to help make her feel better. She no doubt was nervous. There's no telling what the council would do to her. He was approaching her to tell her it would be alright, but someone beat him to it, Travis. He coolly walked up behind Rikki and put a hand on her shoulder.
"You're wasting time. It will all be over very soon, don't worry. Most likely, it will be a pity kill anyways." Alex looked at Travis in disbelief.
"Travis!" He exclaimed.
"Ah, I was wondering Rikki, if you might give me permission to dissect your brain after they kill you. I always wondered how the brain of a traitor operated, and since Angel is, at the moment, unreachable, I was wondering if you would be so kind as to..."
"Travis!!" Alex screamed again. But this only fueled Travis even more.
"And your wings are of an odd coloration. I was wondering if I might cut them off and hang them on my mantelpiece back at home, seeing as you won't be needed them where you're going..."
"TRAVIS!!!" Alex yelled, once more. "Enough, Brother!"
Travis sighed. "Oh, my apologies. You must be nervous." He patted Rikki again on the back, before walked closer to the portal. "Break a leg..." He said, adding under his breath. "...literally."
Alex looked at Travis in an expression of unbelief. Talk about hitting them when they're down, Adamanta said in his head. Alex shook his head, putting a shoulder on Rikki, and nodding with a smile.
