    Darkness Rises Again
A Harry Potter RP by TFW

    Link to the OOC
    Intro:

"Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry

Headmistress: Miri Shacklebolt (Order of Merlin, First Class, Grand Sorc., International Confed. of Wizards)

    Dear (your name),
We are pleased to inform you that you have been accepted at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Please find enclosed a list of all necessary books and equipment. Term begins on September 1. We await your owl by no later than July 31.
    Yours sincerely,
    Eurydice Abercrombie, Deputy Headmistress"

First years, whether Muggle-born or Wizard-born, receive this letter every year, giving them the permission to join Hogwarts School. Most are always overjoyed, nervous, etc. Yet this year, both students, old or new, will start to see the world for what it can be...

    Plot:

It has been nearly 50 years since the final defeat of Lord Voldemort and everything has seemed to be peaceful since than. Many of the Death Eaters had been convicted, families had been restored, and friendships were forged.

It is known that other Dark Wizards have attempted to reach a height of power, yet they had all failed due to the work of Aurors and other wizards. Lately, it seems that the Dark Arts had started to get stronger. More and more Wizard and Muggle deaths have been confirmed with no one knowing anything about the possible murderers. Aurors think it to be an underground ring Wizards that are growing in power.

The Aurors are only partly right... In reality, this "ring" is already an army, formed in honor of the times under Lord Voldemort's power. The Dark Wizard in charge of this army is obviously unknown, though it is likely that he/she is either a descendant of someone who partook in one or both of the previous Wizarding Wars or they themselves had participated in them.

    Setting:

The year is 2047, a rough 50 years after the the end of the Second Wizarding War. As said before, it has been mainly peaceful. No electronics work in the Magical World, though with the power of a wand, who needs electricity? This RP will be based in many of the favorite Harry Potter locations, such as Hogwarts, Diagon Alley, Hogsmeade, parts of London, etc. (Some locations will be based on characters included such as, the Burrow, Godric's Hollow, etc.

    You:

Your character (possibly characters) will be a student at Hogwarts during this time, eventually possibly becoming an Auror or teacher. Your will be in either support of what the Dark Army is doing or against it. This choice will help distinguish your character in the future.

(Besides the Standard Roles you will receive, I may ask some RPers to take main control over a Teacher, Auror, Dark Army Recruit, etc.)

    Rules:

1: Okay, the most obvious rule is to stay active. RP's die because of inactivity and I don't want it to happen to my first one. If you will be gone for a period of time, please PM me and I'll look into seeing who can control your character during this period.

2: No godmodding. If you're character is a first year, they won't know how to exactly form a Patronus, have the elder wand, or be able to do an Unforgivable Curse. Also no bunnying without permission.

3: Keep some level of reality during this RP. You're not going to be able to do some stuff right away, Also be literate. No one is interested in an RP with one-liners, txt language, etc. Be Descriptive!

4: Listen to me, people I may appoint to help me with GMing, and the mods. Breaking rules is only fun in real life. :P To make sure you read the rules, I'd like you to put an underlined, bolded, "Wizards are Cool" somewhere in your SU.

5: Have fun and be kind to others. No one likes a arse.

6: This Rp is rated R16 due to the fact that there will eventually be Relationships between characters, the violence in the RP (With minimal gore), and minor language.

Notes and stuff: (just stuff you'll need unless you already know it all)

    Wand Cores
Wand wood, style, stength, more cores

    Name: Elizabeth "L" Lovegood

    Age: 11

    Gender: Female

    Appearance:

Physical: She is fully British. She has dirty blond, straight hair that reaches up to her waist, and cloudy gray eyes. She is 4'3" and 49 pounds. She is a bit underweight for her height, but not too terribly. Her height is also around average for her age.

Clothing: She usually wears her uniform around the school, along with the occasional flower in her hair and a gold bracelet that belonged to her mother. Her wand is usually tucked behind her ear, quite like her grandmother.

However, if out where wearing the uniform is not mandatory, she usually wears a bright t-shirt with jeans; although the outfit may change according to the weather. She primarily wears bright clothing and pastels, although she has a strange aversion to wearing pink clothes, but not (real) pink flowers.

Personality: Always cheerful and bright, L tends to believe in many things other deem impossible; even by wizards' standards. She is a firm believer of conspiracies and is a journalist for the family newspaper; the Quibbler. Although both of her parents died when she was three, she lived with her grandmother, Luna Lovegood, ever since their death. Although she wished that she could have met her parents, she loved her grandmother very dearly and wouldn't trade her for the world.

Although she seems oblivious to most things, she is fairly observant and is good at reading people. She likes to notice everything around her, although she may seem very ditzy. She is also very loyal to her friends and is very adventurous. She is also very set on her ideals and is extremely intelligent, even if she does obfuscates stupidity. She is also very blunt with the truth and is very caring to others. She can also keep a secret very well.

History: L's parents died when she was three, while they were on an adventure hike. It was rumored that they were murdered, but there was nary a suspect in sight. She was sent to live with her grandmother, Luna Lovegood, and has lived with her ever since then. They mostly traveled around the world together and went on several adventures to find strange creatures when she was six. They went to France, Spain, Germany, Japan, China, South Korea, Australia, Canada, and other remote places. They mostly looked for strange creatures, although their focus was trying to find proof of the Crumple-Horned Snorkack, which they did. They also visited many tourist attractions, muggles' and wizards' and as such, L knows quite a bit about muggles and most muggle references. Also, L can speak a number of languages, although she rarely uses them. During these travels, herself and her grandmother grew closer. They are now trying to find the elusive Bushed-Tail Fanlcuk, although they haven't had much luck so far. Due to seeing a death at the age of ten, she is able to see Thestrals. Although she is very close to her grandmother, due to their traveling around and the rumored "strangeness" of the family, L never had a friend before.

    Miscellaneous:

    House: Ravenclaw

Wand type: Hawthorn (great for dueling), Griffin Claw (good for defensive spells, charms, or hexes), Rigid (good for defensive magics), Spiraled Shaft (quick witted and open-minded), 11 inches

Magical abilities or Items: Can understand all animals. She is the first person to ever understand all animals. Her grandmother has therefore named it as "Wild Magic", taken from the title of a muggle book. She had first exhibited this power when she was five. Her grandmother found her talking to a squirrel about nuts. Her grandmother was very proud.

    Name: James Cole

Age: 11 June 6 is his birthday! :D

    Gender: Male

Appearance: James has black hair, usually completely uncombed and messy. He has green eyes.

Physical: James is 5 feet tall, and weighs about 85-90 pounds. He is a bit taller than a few of the other kids his age, but not by much. He has a slim appearance.

Clothing: James will be found wearing his uniform for the most part, but likes to wear fine, elegant clothes whenever given the opportunity. The clothing would consist of silk, or some other good material. However, for the most part, it would just including a dress shirt, with nice, dark pants and black formal shoes. Sometime, he might throw in a tie as well, but that is on few occasions. People often say James dresses beyond his age.

Personality: James is very bright, being from a well educated family. But beyond that, he overachieves in everything he does. He is very smart, in fact, borders the range of intelligence and genius. Being raised in a traditional pureblood household, one would assume that James is a cold, hated boy with a major prejudice against Mudbloods and Muggles alike, and for the most part, they'd be right. However, James is odd among his family. He doesn't necessarily hate Muggles and Mudbloods. What he truly hates, is people who are what he would call "stupid", which would be defined as anyone who knows less than him, or acts in a manner he doesn't approve. Unfair as it may be, that's just the way he is. He also has very little tact, especially when talking amongst his peers, and often will say whatever is on his mind, whether completely rude, or not. Amongst his elders, he is a little less rash, and often more reserved, showing the respect he feels they should be given, but still often holds opinions of them in his mind often not friendly.

James isn't the quiet type, though. He will often speak, and quite a lot of it, but mostly with people of his own intelligence. This is where his hate for Muggles comes in. He believes those who don't know much about magic are in fact unintelligent, which is why he dislikes them. He cares less about what background you come from, just as long as you aren't a "stupid, uneducated ape".

History: James comes from a rich, upper-class family. His life has been quite sheltered, and although he lives in Northern London, he is never allowed to associate with Muggles. At first, he disliked this, as he was very interested at what they had to say, and what they thought about, but as he learned about them from books, he discovered how uninteresting they really were. He has enjoyed his private life ever since, caring less and less for the outside Muggle world.

James had dreamed of finally going to Hogwarts for a long time, his parents often telling him stories about it. He couldn't wait to finally begin going, eager to test what he had learned over the years and apply it in school.

Over the many years he spent at his parent's manor in the countryside, he had picked up many hobbies, including Quidditch, of which he is an avid fan, and not a bad player himself.

    Name: Cato Faustus

    Age: 11; Born October 31, 2035

    Gender: Male

    Appearance:

Physical: Cato stands at four feet four inches and weighs roughly 77 pounds, which is average for someone his age. He isn't very muscular, so he's kind of useless in a physical fight. His eyes are a light blue, and his hair goes down to his ears, is straight for the most part with bangs that nearly reach his eyes, and... Well, at some point Cato got the idea of dyeing it. As a result, his hair is pretty white. He even got his eyebrows dyed the same color. Risky, yes. But he didn't particularly care.

Clothing: Despite wearing a uniform in school, Cato likes to wear a uniform-esque outfit when he's allowed. The top happens to be your typical white collar shirt, complete with a brown leather jacket and a long blue tie. His pants are also a tannish brown, and a tad too long for him at the moment (they bunch up at the bottom). To top off the boring appearance, Cato's shoes are a brown that nearly match the color of his jacket, and aren't uncommon to what white collars where. In fact, one could say he looks like a very short lawyer or businessman in such an outfit.

Personality: As his name suggests, Cato is rather intelligent. He's also the type of person who is not modest about such. He won't brag about his IQ, but he will exploit his wisdom even when it is unneeded. Cato also takes pretty much everything seriously. You could tell an obvious joke, but Cato will still frown at you if it's the least bit offensive. On the other hand, if you tell a really corny or intellectual joke that is in no way insulting, then Cato will laugh his head off. ...He's weird like that. His seriousness does make him a bit of an outcast, but it does help when the situation is serious (for obvious reasons).

Like a stereotypical intellectual, Cato loves books. His favorite kinds are Muggle school textbooks and reference books. Yes, textbooks and reference books. He loves learning, and will read "The Longest Dictionary in the Universe" word-for-word if you gave it to him. Cato's second favorite type of book to read is historical fiction, again for the same reason previously mentioned. On the flip side, Cato dislikes most technology. Ask him about a TV show, and he will instead talk about how reading is so much better, and will probably put you to sleep going on and on about it. He doesn't even like educational TV/websites/video games because he thinks they still rot your brain anyways (he does have a point, though).

History: Serious children aren't normally born serious. From the time he was three, Cato was in a very strict academy in Scotland. He barely remembered his parents, and all he really remembered was that he was Italian at heart. Aforementioned academy tolerated no humor and no imagination whatsoever. Instead, it promoted learning and hard work and the like. To the teachers, laughing was like robbing a bank, and pulling a prank was like murdering someone. The punishments were very severe, even if you were a child of three. Cato lost count of how many times he was whacked with a metric ruler.

One day, a transfer student ended up sharing a room with Cato. Cato was roughly nine years old, and very obedient in the academy's standards. Said transfer student was the opposite. He loved life, and he didn't care how many times he was punished. He told Cato jokes from time to time, and Cato occasionally found himself smiling at them. Eventually, he began to chuckle, and finally, he began to laugh.

However, this newfound happiness didn't last long. One time, after a ridiculously corny joke, one of the strictest teachers loomed over the boys and asked who it was who was laughing. But before Cato could say anything his roommate took the blame. He was expelled for committing so many "dire" offenses. Cato was left by himself.

    Miscellaneous:

    House: Ravenclaw

Wand type: A 10-inch inflexible and spiraled shaft wand made of Lignum Vitae (very lucky, great for any spell, especially healing and luck spells) and Dragon Heartstring (symbolizes wisdom and longevity, plus good for casting hexes/curses and defensive spells).

Magical abilities or Items: Cato has a shard of the legendary Rosetta Stone. It is an heirloom he inherited from his late grandfather. He wears it around his neck like a pendant, and it allows him to understand any spoken language. However, he cannot speak or write in any language other than English.

    ---

Hope you don't mind the Rosetta Stone heirloom or my adding in wood strength/style. Those just happened to be mentioned and you also mentioned them in the hyperlink, so I thought, "Why not?" :B But hey, Wizards (and Witches) are cool~

    Name: Adria Penrose

    Age: 11 Born on December 25th, 2034

    Gender: Female

Physical Appearance: Adria stands 4'3 and weighs 85 lbs. Her eyes are an odd yellow color and she has medium length Platinum Blonde hair and pale skin and is full British. Her appearance changes on the night of the full moon however. Under the full moon Adria turns into a blonde furred werewolf. Her yellow eyes are more prominent and she has a thin muscular form in this state. She is still small in size as a werewolf but a little bigger than she is in her human state. For the week after the full moon Adria looks weaker and has bags under her eyes her face remaining pale until she recovers.

    Spoiler:

    Spoiler:

Clothing: When not in her school uniform Adria usually wears a pair of sweat pants and a sweatshirt usually blue or silver colored for her house and a pair of comfy white sneakers. At times though she can be seen in jeans and a dark navy blue t-shirt most of which have funny muggle sayings on them.

Personality: Adria is normally very shy and timid staying close to a small group of friends. She always pays attention in class and never goofs off. She can't stand being mean to others or seeing anyone being picked on especially her close friends. Adria almost always thinks things through the only times she doesn't are if her wolf instincts surface or if there is no time to think in a situation.

During the full moon Adria acts completely different her wolf side being more rash and defensive not able to recognize anyone not even her friends. During the full moon she stays in her territory and will attack anyone or anything that steps in it. Her wolf side see's everyone as a threat and will treat them as such. Shortly before the full moon Adria starts to act a little different being more tired and on edge jumpy and nervous about everything and is the same way right after the full moon is over.

History: Adria's life growing up was rough. Born to a pair of British wizards she was very well cared for but isolated from anyone that wasn't family. Due to something that happened when she was little her parents kept her home and away from others and every month from when she was three she underwent a painful transformation into a werewolf. When she was only three years old her mother and Father took her on a camping trip in a forest not far outside Paris, France when on a vacation. The first night of this camping trip happened to be on the night of the Full moon. Young Adria stumbled off into the woods while her parents where asleep. She didn't wander off that far from the campsite before the three year old wandered into a werewolf's claimed territory. The werewolf saw the child as a threat and attacked her. Scared the young child jumped back and was only bitten by the werewolf before her parents came to her rescue. Shortly after this the family moved to a small cottage near Godrics Hollow from where they were living in Londan

For the next 8 years of her life Adria was taught by her mother and father learning the history of the Wizarding world and of her own family being taught the horrors that had happened fifty years prior. She was also told about Hogwarts school of witchcraft and wizardry which was where she was to go to school when she turned 11. Throughout the years Adria read book after book on magic focusing mainly on charms and also read up about werewolves as her father tried to no avail to find the one who turned her.

Wand type: Wood: Oak ( good for Charms, Healing and Nature Magic) Core: Hippogriff Talon ( good for Charms) 9 inches. Her wand is Springy and Smooth making it great for charms work

    Name: Oliver Lee Yanev

    Age: Eleven

    Gender: Male

    Appearance:

Physical: If there ever was a cookie cutter child, the unmoving muggle poster child plastered against the window displays of children and preteen clothing shops, Oliver would be the best candidate. Standing at an average 4'5" and weighing about 80 pounds, Oliver has no particular physical traits that stand out. He's not particularly thin, not particularly plump— instead he hovers in the gray zone where one too many chocolate frogs or one meal too little could send him into either category. He's a little of this and a little of that when it comes to his heritage-- With a bird's nest of short, unkempt coffee brown hair on his head and a pair of bright baby blue eyes, the mix of Turkish and Bulgarian is the strongest heritage in Oliver, who boasts characteristically heavier eyelids, but otherwise there's just too much packed into this little body to list.

Clothing: Comfort over fashion, Oliver has yet to hit the age where he cares much about his looks. Whenever he can get away with it, the little brown-headed boy will wriggle out of his uniform and opt instead for a pair of comfy shorts made of breathable material like swimsuit fabric or mesh—and a loose tank top that's not too constricting. Occasionally he'll don a few "fancier" tops, like a solid v-neck t-shirt or a quarter sleeved jacket, but never anything that restricts his ability to move. Like most boys his age, he's not too big on business in the shoe department, owning only three pairs of shoes. One formal pair of loafers that he chooses not to wear unless his life depends on it, a pair of white converse that have since begun to turn gray from use, and a pair of heavily broken in black flip-flops. He has a bit of a habit to don hats in order to hide his messy hair, thus avoiding the chore of having to brush it, and as a result has quite an array of beanies, ascots, and gatsby caps. While most of his outfits tend to be based in whites and blacks for the sake of not having to think about mixing and matching, most of his shirts add the splash of color that is much needed amongst his monotonous closet.

Personality: Well-behaved and somewhat timid, Oliver isn't the kind of kid who's going to willingly put himself in the spotlight. That is, when he's not being swept along by someone else's flow. Indeed, thinking for himself is not one of Oliver's strong points, and he often finds himself in a situation thinking, "How did I get here?" In the end, his conclusion is usually drawn to someone else dragging him along for an adventure, and him not having the spine to refuse. After all, being a perfectly healthy 11 year old boy, he's got a bit of an eye for adventure too! He's just too afraid of getting in trouble to go looking for it. Ever the party pooper, Oliver will never forget to remind people it's past bedtime, that they should really be doing their homework instead of playing chess, or that they shouldn't eat any more chocolate cauldrons because it's almost dinner time. It's not that he cares about the well-being of people's stomachs or grades—though of course, that is a factor. What Oliver is more concerned about is upsetting an adult, or someone getting in big doo-doo with someone who cares.

Despite his stammering and slightly cowardly nature, he's got a good head on his shoulders and a big heart, and he's always willing to listen to anyone's problems. Even if sometimes he says the wrong thing in response and exacerbates the problem. He's eager to learn new things, working hard to understand concepts and problems that most people would otherwise give up on just by looking at it. He's also as loyal as a puppy, always believing in the best of people even when all odds seem to be against them. Of course, as a result, he tends to take it rather hard when he's proved otherwise- when his loyalty is deceived, he is totally crushed. Never doubtful of the other people around him—but crushed that someone would lie to him when he was honest with all his heart. Oliver is the last one to seek confrontation, and usually tries his best to reconcile in a calm manner rather than losing his temper. His patience seems to know no bounds, as it even overrides his fear of getting in trouble at times. If it's for the sake of a friend, he just might go the whole mile to help them out.

History: The youngest of four, Oliver has been through it all with his flawless older brother and nagging sisters. His family was, by no means excessively wealthy, but neither was his family excessively poor. Living a boring, average life in a middle class family, Oliver trudged to and from school being hailed by teachers as their new favorite. After all, his older brother Raleigh and his sisters Charlotte and Leigh were all exceptional students. Really, Oliver had grown used to living in his siblings' shadows however, and he knew his place. As long as he kept his head down, worked hard, and stayed out of trouble, everyone's expectations would be met. It wasn't like anyone expected him to excel or exceed his siblings in any area of expertise. That is, until he started doing weird things. At first the youngest sister, Leigh, was convinced their house was haunted- things would float about in the room she shared with Oliver, and things would randomly explode at night. It was all horseradish to the second sister, Charlotte, who traded rooms with her baby sibling for the night to prove that there was a perfectly scientifically correct and grounded explanation for the phenomenon that was most likely just Oliver being a prankster. She stayed one night only to experience first hand the levitation, the flickering lights, and the exploding lamps and vases, making the next huge stint about their haunted house.

Of course, being vaguely aware that everything he wanted to float and whenever he wanted the lights off they would automatically shut off, Oliver knew, somewhat, that these phenomenons were linked to him. A smart boy would've kept his mouth shut. Oliver, not the brightest, let his parents know. Panic ensued—their son was crazy, he was having delusions and hallucinations! The Yanev family was ready to implode on itself and ship Oliver away to a boarding school for kids with special needs. But no no, the crazy grandfather on Oliver's father's side intervened. Your son is a wizard. After an explanation that magic can skip generations and that Oliver's grandfather had also attended Hogwarts in his youth, the agreement was the age of eleven, and no further. If Oliver failed to receive a letter from this "Hogwarts" (An awful name if you asked Oliver's family,) then it was straight to boarding school.

Naturally, the excitement of getting a letter in the mail from said "Hogwarts" was indescribable for Oliver, who was not only going to a school of magic but he was not going to a home for kooky kids. Not to mention, didn't this mean he was cooler than his siblings in every way, shape, and form?

He was a wizard! He was going to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry! (Even he had to admit though, Hogwarts was a pretty weird name.)
