Death Note Mafia [Game Over]

Urgh. Stuck between a rock and a hard place. Misa/Rem had so many extra bits to their roles its really not fair to throw in another one now.

"He's not who he says he is!" yelled Milotic.

Was this it? Was this the end? Had Light Yagami finally been revealed as Kira?

Had he lost? After having just killed L, could this really be how things ended?

But someone had pointed out something interesting, and instantly all attention from the task force turned to the Shinigami. What had she been planning? It was obvious that her allegiance no longer belonged to Kira, so what was her ploy?

She could kill Light Yagami right here and now, but these humans would get in the way. Besides, now that their attention was on him, he'd be put to death soon enough. And it wouldn't be pleasant for him.

So it seemed that her work here was now complete. For now, she'd return to Misa's side.​

Light Yagami stared down at the notebook in disdain.

Would this be his final judgment? Would this be the last despicable creature that he put down? He'd come so far. Had it all been for naught?

So many things done right. So many mistakes, some of which he wasn't yet aware of. Some that nobody knew about at all.

This was it. It seemed that this was going to be the final day. Surely the woman who'd found him out would push for his arrest.

It all came down to this.​


Lycanthropy is dead. He was a member of the Populace.​

The people had voted. Bardothren was to be arrested under suspicion of being Kira himself.

Was this it? Would this be the end of Kira's reign?

Light Yagami, Kira, stood shocked. He'd never have thought he'd be discovered. Many people had come to accept Kira as God of the New World...

He was not going to let it end like this. Ryuk, who had returned to see this play out, stood next to Light. Light spoke quietly to him.

"Ryuk, I want to do the deal."

"Fine by me."

Those who opposed him were to be exterminated. He took out the Death Note and began to write...​

Mello lunged forward, knocking the notebook out of Light Yagami's grasp. Kira may have been a mass murderer, but without all the smoke and mirrors keeping his true identity safe, he was practically helpless. All of his pawns had been apprehended. He had absolutely nothing left, even with the eyes of a God of Death.

He had lived beyond L. He had even killed Near. He had failed to kill the third, and arguably most useless of the three detectives. What had Mello done? Nothing! He was a pretender piggybacking on the work of L! Yes, in the end it truly had been L that had defeated Kira. Not this pathetic excuse for a detective.

He glanced between the faces of the task force. His own father was staring him down, with such pain in his eyes. A dark smile crept over Light's face. His narrow eyes now dropped their innocent facade and showed the boy for what he truly was. He was Light Yagami. He was Kira. He was Justice!

And these villains had come to dethrone him, to kill their god like the heathens they were. Did they have any idea what they were doing? How they were harming the world? Look at how he had changed things! Criminals cowered as they all dropped dead, one by one. At first it had only been dangerous individuals, but Kira had slowly grown to the point where no crime was forgiven, no matter how small.

And this was the greatest crime of all! Betrayed by these useless people. He should have killed them all when he'd had the chance! He'd tried to remove his father from the equation once, and his resolve had faltered. He'd built it up after that, so that not even his father would escape his wrath on any future occasion, but once that point had been reached his attention had been diverted to many other more pressing targets.

This was his world. He wasn't going to let it end like this! He couldn't. He wouldn't!

His body began to shake as a manic laughter emanated from his terrible countenance. A laughter so filled with malice, so high that it pierced through to the heavens above, screaming out to reveal the true madness of one man.

The cold of the metal that found its way around his wrists was surreal, but it was tempered by the ferocity of the flames fueled by his anger, his blood lust, his hatred.

Light Yagami had been apprehended, and he would pay for his crimes. Sooner than one might have expected.

"I told you when we first met, Light Yagami," sounded the voice of Ryuk, far away where no one could hear him. He was thinking out loud more than anything. "That one day your name would end up in my Death Note."

Light's pupils dilated. He knew all too well what was falling over him, for he'd inflicted it upon so many. He fell forward, caught by his father as the life drained from his body.

Kira had met his end.


...Or was this only the beginning of a new life?​

Higuchi has to kill you after you're arrested for the victory. This was done to remove the "effortlessness" of the Jester role.

Something that you might not find hilarious is that you could've killed Mana at any time after that first attempt. It was hinted at slightly in the respective narrative. Oops

In case I haven't made it clear already to everyone: Nakuzami wrote every narrative except for the narrative of Night Eight and the pre-epilogue narrative. Blame Naku for being a Mello hater
