WARNING! This is a very conversonal topic, so do not flame over each others comment.

In research today, people playing Dance Dance Revolution (DDR) has claimed for people losing 10 pounds or more. What do you think about this and how would it effect the American Culture in Obesity today.

    Alyssa...you prolly don't even PLAY DDR...hmm...

But DDR is an aerobic excersise, there is no doubt about that. I've lost a little less than 40 pounds by using it, so it works...

    BOO ya!

Alrighty, DDR is infact a video game, sure it can help you lose weight but..

Well, it IS an aerobic exercise, which does help with weight loss. I suppose if people played it for, say, about an hour or so every day it would be effective. However, if they're sitting around eating junk food all day before and after playing DDR, well...that won't do much, now will it?

I think it's a good idea to use DDR as a work out, though. I mean, for a lot of people, going to a gym or other public exercise place is diffecult and uncomfortable. And doing the same exercise tape over and over at home gets boring.

www.DDRFreak.com for you Kay-Kay, learn all you could possibly know :)

DDR should be used as a workout, now that you say that. and not just a competition over who jumps the best >=)

It certainly doesn?t hurt, but I wouldn?t do it and say you?re getting an entire workout from it. But if it helped the Dakota one, then it can work for you! o.o

I'm not going to be getting any excerise. I play FlashFlash Revolution, a computer version where you just use your fingers. It's all about finger strength. LOL

DDR, like regular dancing, is a cardio workout, and it would also work the leg muscles, as well as abs if you get fancy about it. Doing cardio stuff is what gets your metabolism up, and helps to burn what you eat, as well as stored fat, faster. If people are dedicated about it, then I bet it would work. Coupled with some light weight lifting for arms and upper body stuff, I bet it would be great! ^^

This was a freaky coincidence today... Earlier, I was wondering about Dance Dance Revolution on this thread, and today while I was at a store in Dallas with my grandfather, grandmother, and aunt, we saw a boy playing DDR, and everyone liked it so much, so my grandfather bought the game and the thing that you have to step on to play the game! O_o It was just wierd how it happened today, after I was talking about it. I never mentioned it to them one bit; it was all my grandfather's idea to buy it. Anyways, I'll play the game as soon as I get home and can connect it to my PS2. It looks pretty fun!

You'll love it Kayleigh! Thats where I got the song Bumblebee for you (well it was on previous versions) What DDR is it? DDR2?

I play DDR on a weekly basis at the arcade, and I have the whole home setup thing.
Hasn't helped me lose any weight :P

Would be highly amusing to watch a ?g33k? dance though, I?ll give it that. =P
Might also be that you cook so much of that evil breakfast food. <.<

Dakota, you worng there. I have a program that simulate DDR... I just need a mat...

and a PS2... of course. ;) anyway... I just got the program last week, and still practicing my skills on a keyboard, but I am not losing any weight, just gaining skills.. >_>..

but at the end, it's a very addictive game... ;)...

My grandfather got the mat, and it's really neat. You definitely get a work out from it! O_o I just got done playing it after two hours, lol. It is addicting, but atleast it's a good game for you to play.

Of course, I looked like an idiot dancing around on a mat, but still... It's fun. XP You gotta be wierd sometimes!

My favorite song is Look to the Sky! I love it! I like how the Anime girls dance along to it, too. I wish you could design your own character, unless you can, and I just haven't figured out how.

You can. Stepmania allows you to use custom characters and custom music... It's about the same thing, but it's on a computer, and it's a click away from your desktop. =P

lol.... you can even launch it and do some excersize after you do your homework. =P... but the pads do need a specal adapter inorder to use it. >_>

Some examples are attached.... my folder is 100 MB >_>... but I wish I had the real thing..... *cries* I like ddr... lol...

Pokemon Music, some DDR music, and Yu-gi-oh but I don't really burn any calories since I used a keyboard. >_>

Ohh, that's neat! Do you know how to download it and everything?

We found our DDRMAX game at an electronics store, and it wasn't very expensive. Only about $19, which isn't bad for a PS2 game.

The mat, on the other hand... It was pretty expensive. Ours was $70. O__o; But, I'd say that it was worth it. I know that you can buy some cheaper ones, but my grandfather picked this one out.
