If you got a good sense of rhythm, that's pretty much all you'll need for DDR.
Which is kinda what makes it great.

I know! It kind of helps your concentrating skills, too. You really have to pay attention to those arrows, and that's hard to do sometimes because of the flashy backgrounds and the different ways that they point towards.

I think my best song is Look to the Sky. I've almost got the dance moves for that song memorized, lol. ^_^;

It's called Dance Dance Revolution Max, or DDRMax, for PlayStation 2. Is that a good version? ^_^;

That's a very good Version, if you get 2, and practice alot, You'll be a pro in no time :). What songs are you good at So Far?

Look to the sky! I sweat that song, I have all the songs!

There?s another reason not to play it?I suck at quick thinking. It?s my downfall in fighting games because I know good combos and timing but my brain takes too long to decide what it is I should do. o.x; At least with Karaoke Revolution you don?t have to really?think. o.o;

Well, so far, I'm best at Look to the Sky. ^_^ To me, it has the best beat and the dance steps aren't too difficult. Plus, it's not too fast or too slow. Either of those bother me, lol.

Anyways, here is a list of the songs that I'm best at:

Look to the Sky
My Generation
Dark Black Forest
I Like to Move It (Well, my brother and I just do funny dances to that one, lol. XP)
Sandstorm
So In Love
Cutie Chaser
Ordinary World
Broken My Heart

Which ones are you best at? And ohh, you have the Look to the Sky song? Is it the full version?

www.stepmania.com

If you need music, MSN me... well anyway, DDR is really a game of using your "Physical Parts" of your body like your feet and etc, hearing the beats, and quick thinking... anyway, I am getting really good at the music installed on my PC... >_>

*should make some more*

I burned all my Music to CDs (a Data Disc actually, including Stepmania) It took me like 3 Cds

I have this game and I lost 5 pounds when I played it for about 5 hours straight! I think that it could help with the obesity thing in america. They sony eye toy also helps with that kinda thing.

=lil' jose=

Dance Dance Revolution can be a very good workout, depending on how often you play it and such. I've been playing for about 4 years~ I can pass every song with an A or higher, except for PARANOiA Survivor MAX on ONI mode.

I've been a skinny guy all of my life, so DDR hasnt helped me much for a few pounds.
However, i've seen lots of people around the area that I play with lose weight, one guy I know lost nearly 100 pounds in a good 2 months with DDR and a somewhat healthy diet! :3

BTW, Kayleigh, if you're in the dallas area, you should Check out Richardson Square Mall's Cyberzone Arcade! They have a DDR Extreme and a DDR 5th Mix (but soon will be upgraded to Extreme, ;_;)~ they also have Pop'n Music 8 Machine, a Para Para Paradise 2nd Mix, DanceManiaX 2nd Mix J-Append, Keyboardmania (I forget which mix), and a beatmaniaIIDX 7th Style~ if you ever want to check out other bemani games! I always try to visit that place when I go to dallas on vacation or something! ^_^

DDR is a good example of Aerobic exercise. To define Aerobic exercise, it is the movement of the mmajor muscles with a constant supply of oxygen while the heart is at the target heart rate. When this is continued for more than 12 minutes, you enter fat burn. During those first 12 minutes, you only burn sugar. So, DDR is a good way to loose some weight. Along with diet and stretching. My advice is to get your heart rate up and keep it up while playing DDR for 15-20 minutes, 3-4 days a week and in 4-5 weeks (depending on your metabolism) you will some drastic changes. Also, don't eat a lot of food. Try to eat a balanced diet. YES, CARBS. You need Carbohydrates to move...I don't know where in heck did Dr. Atkins get that low carb nonsense...

DDR only loses you weight if you do the right songs...there is pretty much NO song on light that can get you a workout at ALL. All my songs I do on heavy, most of which are always at least 8 steppers, mostly 9 steppers, and I do the 10 steppers to end my routine. The best songs to lose weight are:

Anything with the word Maxx or Paranoia in it

Angelic Vision
Burning Heat
Orion 78 Civilization Mix
Rythm and Police

Man I'm too lazy to name some more, but just pick a fast song with at least 300 steps and your golden...and just practice

BOO ya! <--said it

i work out quite often and ive played ddr and idont think its a complete workoutunless you have hundreds of quarters but hey if it works for you, go for it id rather run on a treadmill with a gameboy though, and just cardio training doesnt make you lose weight fast, unless you run for miles a day, its mostly the diet but good for everyone that lost weight we americans are gaining so much they call it an epidemic

DDR can be a very good workout if you do the faster songs. Doing the slower granny songs won't get you a workout at all

Do ddr a lot, and your calves will be BUSTIN!

Ohh, I go to Dallas a lot, and if we ever visit that mall, then I'll check it out! ^_^ The name sounds familiar, so I may have been there before.

Anyways, I definitely think that this game helps out if you're trying to lose weight. I mean, of course you're not going to lose weight if you have an unhealthy diet, or are not active. But, if you do stay active and eat right then you'll definitely see some results. Because I'm planning on working with orcas when I'm older, I'll have to swim a lot, and the kind of swimming that I'll have to do requires a lot of strength. So, along with being active and eating healthy, I play DDRMAX, and practice hula dancing. (Yes, that is excercise if you do it the right way.) I've definitely gotten stronger! I don't want a bunch of noticeable muscles or anything... That'd be wierd, but I've gotten to where I can swim a lot faster and longer now, so it helps. You do have to be really healthy to have that sort of job. I'm going to make sure that I'm perfect for it whenever the time comes!

ddr is good for a good health. :P i got a japanese ps2 and japanese versions of the game 4th mix, 5th mix, max, max2, and extreme versions. plus, the dance mats.

i agree doing da light mode stuff doesn't help a lot, its the heavy stuff that starts chipping off the weight.

besides all that it's the only form of excersize that i enjoy doing. it keeps me from gaining weight. :D i've lost 40-50 lbs from ddr. i've seen some others loose more weight though. and this guy used to play all the time at my arcade, he was really skinney...then he stopped playing and i notced he got chubbier. o_O;
