3rd Gen Debating use of legendaries

I feel as the only legendaries that should not be used are ubers ones because even if there trainers are newbie and put horrible move there still a threat....

I myself use other legendaries ... I have a regirock for in the making sandstorm team and an articuno for current one... ~TDB

If someone wants to use legendaries, then they should be able to. They are put in the game for use, not for show. And if you fight someone using legendaries, if you lose, you have an excuse (even if your crap :() and if you win, you obviously must be a strong trainer. Obv, if everyone had a Groudon/Kyogre/Rayquaza/Jirachi/Deoxys/Lati@s squad then it would be boring, thats why different people like different Pokémon. I will have those legendaries to complete the game, but wont really use them often, just train them really. I prefer to use normal Pokémon beacuse the legendaries dont do enough for me. Ones like Growlithe/Arcanine and Ampharos, ma not be the strongest, but they will be in my squad every battle, beacuae i know how to use them. :)

^Agreed. The uber metagame is basically Attack Deoxys RIPPING through almost any wall in existence and Arceus being an annoyance.

I also think the "one legend a team" limit is totally bogus. On one hand people are saying "legends are normal pokemon, we only dislike ubers!" and then they go limit these "normal pokemon." Yay double-standards!

I agree with you and have no problem with non-Uber legendaries, but I personally try to avoid using all Legends, but thats just me.

The only legendaries I usually use are the gams mascot legend, I very rarely use ones other than that. Uxie and Aself both have permenant homes in my pc box and rarely if ever see the light of day

I totally agree with you, thats the way I feel as well

Naah Rayquaza is actually quite cool ;) He's probably inspired by the Chinese dragons.. He's far better than Groudon and Kyogre anyway. What are those supposed to look similar to?

I agree. Groudon and Kyogre are lame.

I suppose I just have too much pride, but I don't use them in battle, just to fill up my pokedex. It's lame too if all your pokemon are lv. 70 and then like the Regis are 40.... I don't want to go through the trouble to level them up.

I like the legendaries that are lv. 70 when you go to catch them and then they wipe out half your team before you get a chance to throw a ball.... yeahh... that's the fun stuff.

PS. What's up with Rotom? It SUCKS.

An annoying thing I find with legendaries are the movepools. They learn really decent moves really early on, and by the time they get to the level you catch them at, the moves are erased?

I know you can use a heart scale to relearn them and whatever, but this service wasnt available back in G/S/C. The legendary bird you catch which IS NOT on the box art have crap moves in my opinion. Like in Gold, Lugia doesnt have Aeroblast, and in Silver, Ho-oh doesnt have Sacred Fire, WHICH ARE THERE SIGNITURE MOVES!!!!

Ok, some movepools are changed later on, and with heart scales, you can get them back, but surely even legendaries should learn there most powerful moves when they reach nearer level 100. It makes the game to, unfair. I mean, play against a Kyogre is fine, but a level 45 one that knows Hydro Pump already, whats the point?

Again as i said earlier, if they want to use it then fine, but c'mon, shouldnt Kyogre and the like wait till like, level 70 somethin to learn its most powerful moves?

My first team had only one legendary (Lugia). I think my DP team will also have one (or maybe two). I will use my starter, Goukazaru, and my favorite Pokemon, Darkurai. I often use the starter in my team. If I will add another legendary, maybe that will be Agnome, Yuxie or Emurit, but I'm not sure. It depends if they fit in. I don't care so much if the Pokemon is legendary or not. As long as I like it and it has the abilities and qualities I like I will use it in my team. My GBA team will have Kaiouga in it, but I don't have any other legendary to add right now. I often use only 1 or 2 legendary and my starter.

Personally, I like using legendaries. I don't battle on-line at all, so I feel that it's fair that I should get to use legendary Pokemon. Plus, I like their designs <33

Although I have made a small rule for myself to use one uber at a time, unless I feel I need at least a second legendary on my team (One example is that on my FireRed team, I don't have a single Pokemon that knows Psychic. Prior to this, I had a Haunter that knew the move, but it's stats sucked. So now I don't have the TM to teach any of my other Pokemon Psychic. Which means that the only Pokemon I have other than my Haunter that knows Psychic ish Mewtwo, and I need that move to battle Agatha in the Elite Four rematches. But I already have Suicune on my team. So I had to bend my own rule a bit to make an exception xD)

And I don't have a problem with other people using legendaries, provided that it's in reasonable amounts. It bugs me when somebody has a whole team of legendaries, instead of just one or two.

Do you use legendaries? How do you feel about them?
Sometimes yes, sometimes no. They're nothing that significant to me..

Do you battle them against other human players, and put them on your custom trainer card and try hard to get the most valuable in your top six Pokémon team?
No, for all

Or do you only use them mainly in-game because there at least it feels alright with the storyline, and because they are, after all, useful power-packages in-game?
Only sometimes.. If I have rooms for it.

My RSE team had Groudon in it, and although I caught Dialga and the three trio before the E4 in DP, I don't use them because I already have my 6-Pokemon team..

I tell you what, the REAL challenge is going through the game with only 1, YES ONE, Pokémon. Seriously, atm im doin Ruby Sapphire and Emerald all with one starter, only. Ruby = Mudkip (now Swampert), Sapphire = Treecko (now Sceptile) and Emerald = Torchic (now Blaziken), and those are the only ones I train. In my squad are HM slaves obv, but the only decent one is the starter. I dunno why i do it, just seems more of a challenge trying to defeat the game with just one Poké. I mea, i dont just wait in one route for hours training it, i do complete the game asap, so its a real challenge.

By the time i got to Rustboro in E, i had about a level 18 Torchic, not evolved, and had to defeat 2 Geodudes and a Nosepass, against Roxanne! It was difficult, a few soft resets, but eventually with a bit of luck, it worked, mainly by burning them, yes, but it worked. Even the Elite 4 i do with just the starter. Now thats a challenge!

Beating the E4 in RS with your fire starter is easy, but not in Emerald. Almost all the Pokemon is weak against fire/fighting. Dragon Trainer can be difficult, though.

i'd have to say it really depends on the legendary. I won't battle any of the DP event legendaries yet, but I would glady fight somebody who dared to wield a mew at me.

use latias in a battle? I'd die first. (i'm a latias fanboy. so flippin' sue me.)

for the most part, the ultra-ubers i won't go near (like arceus and mewtwo in particular) and i'd prefer to avoid confrontation with a certain red-and-white dragon (for personal reasons), but other than that I say go for it. Like any other pokemon, they're there to be used or unused at the player's discretion, but you shouldn't really tell people how they have to battle.

It's not my place to say whether or not people should use legendaries but I find the challenge of a battle to be part of the fun. And where's the challenge if you are using legendaries? The only point I personally see in using them (if they are not a personal favorite Pokémon) is in in-game trainer battles to quickly beat annoying trainers that you don't feel like battling or to raise your total number of wins to inflate your ego. But not everyone's like that, of course, and it's just my choice not to use them in battle because it's a bit more fair that way and I love the challenge.

I have no problems using them, but I rarely use them cause i just like a few legendaries:
Suicune, Mew, Latios, Latias, Manaphy and Kyogre
They aren't very easy to catch (except Kyogre), some of them need events, so...

Legendaries to me can be sorta relics... ^^ no, but trophies at least. I can feel dull when using them, even if it's only a legendary dog or other non-über-ish.

Usually the people I play against who use a bunch of Uber Legendaries aren't that good lol, so I don't have a big problem playing against them. I only like to use Non-Uber Legendaries like Jurachi and Cresselia. The only Ubers I like to use are Mewtwo, Lugia, Mew, Palkia, Dialga, Darkrai and Kyogre.

I try not to use legendaries as much as possible, they are way too common. I prefer to train and use normal pokemon as this brings more fun into the game and makes battling more fair, however there are still idiots out there who will lie to you and secretly put a deoxy's in their team and win withought any thinking at all.

Seriously though, a six year old could make a team full of arceus and claim to be the greatest trainer ever but at the end of the day wheres the fun in that?

You make a good point. I spose that anyone could use a buch of ledgs and win. Winning with a team of 'normal' Pokés requires skill, teamwork and a good game plan. But still, I dont think that persuades me not to throw in one legendary per team. Maybe...
