Welcome to the bug pokémon fanclub! Since bugs are so extremely interesting (well, bug pokémon, not necessarily real bugs, ew), we shall have a place to talk about how interesting and cool they are.

Do you want to join the club and become a Bug Catcher? Of course you do! Put on your silly hat and dorky boots and let's wade off into the tall grass together.

How to collect bugs:​

Post in this club to collect bugs! You will start with one lil bug pal friend thing. For every 5th post you make in this club, you can choose to add a new bug to your collection or to evolve one of your existing bugs. Simply let me know when you have made 5 new posts, and I will make the necessary edits!

Sometimes, you can capture special bugs! Mega forms or shiny bugs or even the illusive Genesect! That will require you to do special things in or around the club in order to collect the special bug. Keep your eyes alert!

What's the best thing about bug pokémon: I like the underdog factor that they carry! Bug-types are always seen as being these weak little pathetic creatures but I think the majority of them can end up being very impactful. I like the interesting moves the type gets like Silver Wind and Quiver Dance and in general I think it's just a really cool type with a lot of cute Pokémon in it.
Favorite bug pokémon: Yanmega! It's suuuch a cool looking Pokémon with a really fun battle set to use and some great abilities, plus a very unique method of evolving. Yanmega is one of my all-time favourites because it's just such a cool and fun Pokémon to use.

What's the best thing about bug pokémon: I love their designs! Naturally, they resemble bugs, and I don't meet too many people in real life who are fond of real bugs to begin with, so that in general draws me toward bugs and bug Pokemon.

I too like the underdog factor! There are always some bugs found early and people think they aren't good pokémon, but I used Butterfree a lot in Kanto and Beedrill even got a Mega Evo. Take that, popular fire and dragon pokémon ;D

What's the best thing about bug pokémon: Literally almost all of them are adorable. That's really just about it; although Bug doesn't rank among my most loved types (that falls to like, Flying/Psychic/Grass), I appreciate the type enough to recognize the amazing and diverse Pokemon that have the typing. :>

Favorite bug pokémon: Volcarona. It's graceful, it's beautiful, it's powerful. What more can I say?

I really don't like irl bugs, but I have to agree that bug pokémon are adorable haha. Volcarona was a pretty amazing add to the bug gang.

Combee is your favorite? :D that's so cute somehow haha. I looove the variety of bug pokémon. So many have secondary typings also; you could make such an interesting bug pokémon team from them.

Butterfree if I can ^^ Ninjask is also useful imo, so speedy! Leavanny was also nice in Unova. Other than that I don't actively use bug pokémon overly much, I'm afraid. But that's mostly because I don't play the games much haha.

What's the best thing about bug pokémon: Okay, so...I may not be an overall bug type fan but the bugs I do like, I absolutely adore! For instance, shelmet, sewaddle and caterpie are a few of the Bug type Pokemon I love! I am just more picky when it comes to this type because of the greatness that this type can bring. Though it took me a long time to realize, bugs are awesome against psychic and dark types! It really takes some pressure off now knowing bugs are so easily acessible and with good training, can be powerhouses (a.k.a Vivillion). They are some very intriguing types for sure and I am happy to celebrate them.

Favorite bug pokémon: well...I think I have to go Leavanny/Swadloon, I just love those two Pokemon, Venipede/Scolipede is a close third/fourth I suppose.

Is there a particular bug-type that you have in your team whenever you play the games?
Not particularly. I don't get to use bug-types too often, and it was really in B/W where I really devoted a space on my team for a bug type (Whirlipede). I will never evolve it to Scolipede, haha.

What bug-type Pokemon do you think would be suitable to have as a pet?
Um.... I used to have hermit crabs as pets, so I wouldn't mind having a real life Dwebble. And Shuckle. c:

I think I used to have a Scolipede in Black/White though! Pretty good pokémon there. I like that there's a bug so huge that you can actually ride it haha. Most are pretty delicate in their design (except for the strong ones like Heracross, Scyther and Pinsir).

I really like Scyther/Scizor, and Heracross. Their designs are pretty awesome and show that bug pokémon can be strong and cool. But my favorite is probably Masquerain because so cute <3

I probably actually need to use more bug Pokemon, haha...

I mean, Volcarona has been my go-to Bug-type for a while now (and before that, it was Armaldo), but I want to try others! I want to go back to trying Venomoth in the games again like I did back in the old days, and I want Heracross in a future team of mine, too. :o

Volcarona is win though.

For a new topic - a debate!: Which is the best bug catching region?
Now I mean for us to discuss which region has the best bugs, simply. And not like we usually say "2nd gen bugs" etc; you can find Caterpie and Weedle in Johto too so they count there just as well as in Kanto! As long as you can find the bug in the region, it's native.

So which region is the best for bug catchers? (:

I was thinking Johto too, since they've got all Kanto bugs too... (Or do they have Pinsir really?)

But there are some really cool bugs in Hoenn and Unova so I'm not sure what I think o: Unova might just top it. Volcarona, Accelgor, Escavalier, Scolipede, Leavanny, Galvantula... That's a whole diverse team right there. They'd need a water/bug type and a bug/flying too and it's just perfect (: yes I think I'm choosing Unova!

Volcarona comes to mind. I usually use it in White, mostly to hatch eggs. Otherwise, it's one of my best Pokémon.

I especially like the bug types found in Unova, so I'm gonna say the bug types there make it the best region. :P Of course, I'm just biased~
Also somewhat unrelated (?), but I've always wanted to use Accelgor and Escavalier on my team. Never got the opportunity, though. Are they worth it any? Haha. I don't battle competitively, so I could probably work with them if I'm just going through the story of a game, but still...

There's also Durant and Genesect! Yea Unova is superior as the bug region in my eyes ^^ I haven't played BW2 though; does anybody know if there are even more bugs available there then?

I'd say Gen V had the best innovations in adding bug types. Although out of nostalgia and in game competition factor, Gen 2 wins out for me with the bug catching contests in that park. Though catching pinsir and Scyther was always super brutal. And it ducked when someone best you anyway with a freaking Butterfree

Combee or Ledyba...or even Joltik and Charjabug. The former two just look so friendly, and the latter two can produce electricity, which is nice. Plus, Combee can produce honey.

I'd probably love to have a Butterfree though. It's still the best butterfly pokemon imo. Vivillon is uglier and even though Beautifly is utterly adorable, iirc its level-up attacks are pretty meh o:


EDIT: me and colours have posted 5 or more times each now, so we can go ahead and evolve our pokémon or catch a new bug! Yayy. I'm evolving Surskit <3

What's your favorite Bug-type move?

Quiver Dance is my most favorite Bug-type move so far. I love how it boosts three stats at once. Bug Buzz and Megahorn are also favorites.
