    1) My girlfriend: No need to go further on this.
    2) Solar-powered computer: So I can access the 'net.
    3) Internet: Duh.
    4) Airplane: So we can get out whenever we want. (just leave out this option if you feel it's the "cheap way out")
    5) Lifetime supply of Doritos: Nacho Cheese - We need to eat, don't we?
     
    2Cool4Mewtwo you are stuck on a desert island in this horrible gut-wrenching scenario which will most likely result in your death from dehydration or desert animal attack, and the first thing you want to bring is your girlfriend so she can share in the misery and horror? :P

    I personally have no idea what I'd want to take. These sorts of questions bug me because I want to sound smart like I could pack the ultimate survival kit or something, but the truth is I'd be worse than useless on a desert island. I would have no idea what to do... so I could sit here for half an hour trying to think of five items to take and not be able to come up with even one :P
     
    1. A good book (the Steve Jobs book my aunt gave me)
    2. A penknife to defend myself
    3. A first aid kit
    4. Some chips
    5. A solar powered laptop
     
    1. A kindle filled with books to the brim
    2. A solar battery (to recharge the kindle)
    3. A box of flares (For signalizing for ships)
    4. Plenty of food and water
    5. Tools to try to build a ship

    Is that okay for you?
     
    1. Flint :: To light things up and cook things and burn down things :D
    2. Knife :: To kill things
    3. Solar panels! :DD
    4. Life long supply of food of course :o
    5. Laptopppppppppppp and phoneeeeeee :3 [solar powered =D]
     
    1. Some sort of aircraft fully loaded with fuel so I can leave whenever I want.
    2. Solar powered generator to power item 3.
    3. Laptop computer with a really powerful wi-fi antenna.
    4. Sufficient food and drink to survive.
    5. Allergy medication (so I don't, like, die.)
     
    1. Enough Pot to last the rest of my life
    2. A nice "rip-it" bong.
    3. A lighter.
    4. A supply of shrooms(I'll get bored by myself...)
    and 5. Unlimited supply of alcohol. I'm not sure which kind, but I will be getting drunk when I'm left to die.

    I don't think my chances of survival would be high. I'd just live it up and then die probably due to drug/alcohol over dose. Oh well, I was trapped on an island without hope of ever getting out. I'd want to be able to say that I had fun in the moments before my death. Besides... living there all by myself would be such an unbearable agony... I couldn't handle it.

    1. I'd build a viable sand fortress with whatever supplies I need for that lol. Apart from sand.
    2. A fire arm with infinite ammo
    3. A skinning knife so I can EAT
    4. A very large white piece of rough cotton cloth so I don't burn to death
    5. And probably a solar powered laptop with a fantastic wi-fi receptor or something.
     
    So much pessimism! Harlequin asked me in IRC if a gun would be sufficient as well, Drakow! Jeez... I'm going to assume that the island is less a tropical hell-hole and more a tropical paradise, and bring the following items:

    1. Laptop: I'd presume the Island would be something out of the Lost universe (I'm even capitalizing Island already!), so I assume it has Wi-Fi
    2. Kindle-type-thing: If I'm alone on a desert island, I might as well try and read all those books I could never get around to reading
    3. Netflix subscription: We don't have these in the UK, and hopefully the Island is close enough to qualify for one of these!
    4. Water filter: 'cause you know the saying: Water, water, everywhere/so let's all have a drink! Wait... no, that's why I need the water filter!
    5. Gun: NOT FOR MYSELF! Maybe to kill a nice boar or two for cooking purposes!
     
    I'll take my cellphone, a powerful GPS/network and a solar charger so I can call someone to pick me up and take me home ... okay, that's just cheating.

    1) Laptop.
    2) Wi-Fi and network antenna.
    3) Cellphone.
    4) Portable Tesco shop.
    5) Hovercraft and guide to learn to drive it.
     
    I'm going to go ahead assume I have food and supplies and will ignore the ~safety/survival~ list and instead list five fun things to keep me occupied instead.

    1. An e-reader, which normally I wouldn't do because I prefer actual books, but this way I could have a bunch of them and not use all five of my items with just books :P

    2. A journal, I've always kept one and being stranded on an island seems like something i'd keep note of.

    3. My ipod until it runs out.

    4. My DS until it runs out with both 9 Hours 9 Persons 9 Doors in the DS spot and Sapphire in the GBA spot.

    5. BUG SPRAY. And or my phone, but only if it gets service.
     
    1. Five Hundred crates of Beer
    2. Sixty-nine very attractive females
    3. Six hundred pounds of Coke (not the soda)
    4. One tonne of an assortment of strawberries, Salt and Vinegar Chips, Donairs, steak, chocolate and gummy worms.
    5. A lighter, or a hundred.

    See, everything is covered. I drink the beer, do the coke, eat the food and breed with the women.

    - How could I survive without water, so of course. It's the first thing that I would have!
    - Food, obviously.
    - Extra clothes.
    - Laptop, and a prepaid card. lol
    - A pistol, so I could protect myself from harm such as dangerous and wild animals. o3o
     
    Generic answers FTW!

    1. A thing that makes it so I can survive easier.
    2. A second thing that makes it so I can survive easier (because it's a dangerous world out there).
    2. A thing that keeps me entertained.
    4. A sentimental thing I don't want to give up.
    5. An all-purpose, useful thing that, with a little creativity, can help me survive, entertain me, and possibly also become sentimental if I'm on that island for a while.
     
    -Zippo lighter
    -giant thing of lighter fluid
    -good hunting knife
    -very long rope
    -tarp

    Everything else I could make. I'd keep myself occupied building shelter, hunting, making tools, learning about my environment & its inhabitants. Hopefully it's a big island. Mine has a forest so nyeh.
