    Design a Hoenn Mega Evolution!

Getting anxious waiting for the release of ORAS? Need something to do that will take your mind off of how far away November is, and have a lot of fun while you're doing it? Well, look no further! Welcome to an event that pits the best designs of new Mega evolutions against each other in a battle of realistic, logical, and strategic components! Here, you'll be creating a concept for a Mega evolution of any existing Hoenn-native Pokemon, whilst following the rules listed below.

    Rules:

    Please Read First!
    • Pokemon must be native to Hoenn. (i.e. Flygon) There are a few exceptions: Roserade, Probopass, Gallade, and Dusknoir.
    • You can only create a Mega evolution for the final form of an evolution line.
    • If typing/ability are changed, explain how it pertains to the design and use of the Pokemon.

    Form:

    Username: Self explanatory.
Pokemon: The Pokemon that will be receiving a Mega evolution.
Type: For changing the type of the Pokemon.
Stat Changes*: Any of the Pokemon's stats that are buffed.
Ability: If a new ability is created/an existing one that is different from the Pokemon's regular form.
New Moves: Any new moves added to the Pokemon's move pool.
Name & Location of Mega Stone: Self explanatory.
Description: Brief account of the Mega evolution's design.

    * - Remember that all Mega evolutions get a 100 BST point boost that can be spread to any stat except HP.

I might definitely be able to lend some hand to you in terms of CSS. =) Simplicity would be the key for something like this, I feel, so I'll be trying to keep it as minimal as possible, which still having everything go easy on the eye. Just ring me a bell if you'd like that, and I'll get to it as soon as I possibly could. This looks like a very fun event, by the way! I'll try my best to participate, but if something prevents me, I'll definitely be cheering for those who enter.

Sounds awesome! You might want to add another rule that covers any further megas announced. Perhaps instead of the list you can just say "applications must be for pokemon without mega forms, including newly announced ORAS megas" or something to that effect.

Can I just point out that Charizard and Mewtwo both have two different Mega forms? I'm not sure I see the need to exclude Pokémon that already have one form.

Ah, wonderful suggestion, I'll certainly be putting that to use! Thanks for the input. :]

As is stated in the title of the event and the ground rules, the only Pokemon viable for this event are Hoenn-native, like Flygon, who was introduced in RSE. Charizard and Mewtwo, being Kanto pokemon, are already forbidden. It's more about the spirit of creating a Mega evolution for Pokemon that haven't already been given one, which is why it isn't allowed. Hopefully, that clears everything up!

Yes, I got that you wanted to limit it to Hoenn Pokémon (does that mean Gen 3 Pokémon or Pokémon found in Hoenn?). The point I was making was in reference to your rule that you're not allowing Mega forms for a species that already has one. Some Pokémon have multiple Mega forms, so it wouldn't be unthinkable to allow people to create a second Mega form for a (Hoenn) Pokémon even though it already has one. It would only be harder to do so, as it would need to distinguish itself from the existing Mega form.

How about Pokémon like Roselia and Nosepass? They're Hoenn Pokémon, and were introduced in Gen 3 and were fully evolved at that point, but evolutions were added later on. Are they (Roserade/Probopass) eligible?

I mean, there's no real reason I originally forbid Pokemon with an existing Mega evolution, I just thought it would be easier to get creative with Pokemon that didn't already have one - however, I can easily make it allowed. As you said yourself, it would be a bit more challenging to create a second Mega evolution, but it's obviously up to the applicant.

Hmm, I suppose it would make sense to open the contest up to them. Good point! I'll update the first post with designated changes. Thanks for the feedback, much appreciated :]

You should include a spot in the application for their updated stats and a reminder that Mega Evolutions get a 100 BST point boost that can be spread to any stat except HP. That's a standard and you mentioned the strategic aspect of the evolutions, so it only makes sense to add it.

Ah, knew I was forgetting something crucial, haha. Thanks Dave, added all that into the first post! n__n

I hope this is all right! For some pizzazz, feel free to add some images here and there, such as ones featuring newly-introduced mega-evolutions like Swampert and Sceptile.

Looks perfect! *__* Thanks so much Ashley!

Planning on having two emblems if we decide to retain our old system instead of having one set of general GT emblems, one for winner and one for runner up.

We're more than likely retaining said system so have at creating your emblems. This looks good other than you finalizing your layout!
