It's very long, and image-heavy, so I'll post an excerpt and a link.
This article is aimed at total newbies to the program (and is in essence the first part of a series I plan to write for first-timers). As such, I expect you to not have a serious project yet. And if you do, you should't. Trust me with this one. You're just starting out, you're not going to make the next FFVII or Grandia. Hold your dreams of your ideal game in the back of your mind. I really cannot stress this enough. If you don't take anything from this article, take that. Never start on your serious project right away. You'll be doomed from the start, and your dream project will be a failure newb-trash. Newb trash isn't a bad thing. Hell no, everyone goes through it. But you don't want it to happen to your dream project, do you?
