4th Gen Diamond / Pearl Q&A Thread

Yep, whenever you'd gain EXP from a battle, you gain EVs too.

Anyway, I battle trainers all the time when EV training. In fact, the best way to EV train Speed is to repeatedly battle the Fisherman near Eterna who uses 6 level 10 Magikarps using the VS Seeker.
Thank you very much..
Well let's say my Alakazam trains his Sp. Atk EV in Old Chateau... And now I change my training place, so will it affect the EV of my Alakazam? What about... If I stop training Alakazam's Sp. Atk temporarily and trains his Speed... Will his Sp. Atk EV reset?

I'd say EV. Im bout ready to EV train with my uber wi-fi team

Odd Keystone

Where can I find an Odd Keystone? I'm in dire need of Spiritomb! Or if anyone has an extra I'm willing to trade. Can a pokemon hold the Odd Keystone?

If he's got 96 wins in the BT, you'd expect he EV trains already...

Perhaps you could try chaining some shinies?

You can find them in the underground.

However, it is easier to get them in other ways. There are in fact 2 in-game, excluding the underground's infinite supply.

The first, and easiest to get, is given to you by a Black Belt west of Hearthome City (on the route with the Berry Master's house, go right to the bottom).

The second and more hidden one is actually in Twinleaf Town, where you start. Simply Surf in the pond and use the Treasure Finder Pokétch app. It's hidden in the trees on the left.

Hope this helps!

EVs are set in stone when your Pokemon gains them. Nothing you do, save for using EV reducing berries, will ever make a Pokemon lose its EVs.

Simply put, EVs don't work like that- they're made so you can give as large or as little of a boost to each stat as you like. For example, let's say I don't want to max out my Infernape's speed- I only want to give him enough Speed to outspeed base 105s. I can do that.

odd Keystone is now yours!!!!!

just go 2 where you insert the odd keystone and walk about 5-30 steps west and you should find a karate guy at the bottem of your screen. just talk to him and he will hand it over to you free of charge or you can dig and find one under ground after you beat the elete 4 and the champ. Good luck-Dark-X

I tried the karate guy he says go underground on route 209! you can hear people in the stone pillar talking! so that doesn't help me at all :p ill try the other places A.K.A the Twinleaf one. Im not going in the underground and wasting precious time :p

yup iv got a fully ev train team out of bordem ill probably ev some more so i can switch them around and thanx for the idea im going to try getting shinies thats a great idea

I will be creating a UU team soon.
What pokemon/strats should I be aware of?

What are common counters and standard movesets/pokemon.
Where can I find moveset help, besides this site and smogon.
Its more like multible questions rather than one.

There is actually an odd keystone in the town you start in ( forget the name), surf on the bottom little pond and one or two spaces down from the north edge of the water, on the left edge, there is a keystone in the woods you can grab (one of those items you can't see)

Rotom, Steelix, Claydol, Clefable, Hitmontop, Swellow, Hitmonlee and Ninetales are used in UU quite a bit, apparently. Find ways to counter them, and possibly put some on your team. As for movesets, Smogon's probably your best bet, since it tells you each Pokémon's recommended movesets (for standard and UU), their uses, and counters. Other than here and Smogon, I'm not sure. Possibly Serebii's POTW, but there's nowhere near as much information there as in Smogon's database...

Friend Code?

Does the name affect the Friend Code registration ?

For example, I register someone as Paul instead of PAUL or MARK or something like that.

Btw, I want a shiny pokemon :(

I'm trading Pokerus-infected Bidoofs* for shiny pokemon :)

*Just walk with the bidoof in your party and sooner or later it will infect the rest of your Pokes :)
