Pokémon Spinoff: Digimon Adventure TCG

Oke, maybe I am a bit of an idiot. But I followed the installation to the letter and the only thing I get when I click apply patch is a txt file. Is there anything that I could be doing wrong?
I already played one of the first versions it was available online as playable patch. But I would really like to play the newest version.

(I only tried it on mobile)

Download the Pokémon Trading Card Game rom. Then extract it with win.rar. do the same thing with the Digimon patch. Then use Unipatcher and then you should be good to go.

Big announcement!
Lately I've been getting more into pixel art and I've decided to redo the art for this game. My old approach was simply finding sprites from various games and putting them over a generic background. Nowadays I'm using a few techniques (that PaperFire showed me) to draw each card from scratch. To demonstrate, here are some comparisons of the old cards against some of the new ones I have so far:

[PokeCommunity.com] Digimon Adventure TCG
[PokeCommunity.com] Digimon Adventure TCG
[PokeCommunity.com] Digimon Adventure TCG
[PokeCommunity.com] Digimon Adventure TCG
[PokeCommunity.com] Digimon Adventure TCG
[PokeCommunity.com] Digimon Adventure TCG

Surprisingly this new method only takes around half an hour or so per card. In some cases they're even easier to make than the old sprite method(!).

What's more, once the graphics are done I'm going to try out the PokeTCG disassembly so that the cards can have more interesting attacks and abilities. I was really inspired by the other Pokemon TCG hacks out there and I want to see if I can make one that's just as good.

Don't expect this update to come out any time soon; I'm thinking it's still going to be months off considering my current pace. I just wanted to let everybody know what PokeCommunity's resident Digimon hacker has been up to!

The new sprites are looking awesome but I would give them a bit more saturation like the current ones.
I would also change the background colors to make the main sprites more visible.

Thanks for the feedback! I'm kind of learning as I go. Here's a few more I have laying around:

Hello Guzeinbuick, for me a digimon fan, I gotta admit this romhack is amazing! As I was not in Pokemon TCG (had 0 idea till I played this) the game feels so good. Also giving me a Digimon fan a game to play since TOEI takes like years to release a new one is like a fever dream.

Well I see that the game is finalized I would like to suggest some nitpicks as a digimon fan that bothered me:
Gennai card art having pokemon instead of digimon? Caught me off-guard tbh, amazing sprite though.

Also I see some attacks (names) being name by Pokemon, while others are changed to the digimon name. Here are some of them and what I suggest as a change name:
Impmon High-Jump Kick (he has a kick attack, not high jump) --> Machine Gun Kick
Turuiemon High-Jump Kick (Turuie fight with her fist, not with kicks though) --> Ninja Fist
Renamon High-Jumping Kick (ok yes Renamon does that but the true name is...) --> Korenkyaku

Those are the 3 one I found easily. There are a ton of Attacks that have a different name (based on Digimon Wikia). If you are interested in namechanging them I am willing to help you iron out every single one of them. (Same goes for DGMN Powers)

Honoured to have your first post! 😁 Thank you very much for the feedback. The trouble with the names is that not every card may have a unique attack. Because of the way the rom is built, several mons must share a few moves. This is why I opted for more generic names that several Digimon could pull off, such as "high-jumping kick."

As for Gennai, yeah that was a total hackjob lol. Over the next few months I'll be changing most of the card sprites into custom pixel art I do myself, with a few exceptions (there's a few cards with sprites that I think look good enough to keep, such as one of the Pumpkinmons, Fanbeemon, Rafflesimon, and a few others). That means I'll do custom pixel art for the Tamers like Gennai as well. :) Look forward to it!

I see didnt consider the technical limitation that a GBC gane could have, oh well. Quite happy to hear that sprites will be remade by you that is awesome news. Also I would like to ask why there are so many same digimon (e.g. Tentomon) with different art, instead of opting having more digimon added? (Maybe that is also a technical limitation thing)

Also have you tried the Vs Player and Trading features? I would love to know if we are able to play this game vs my friends a bit more "competitively".

Correct, the duplicates (like 4 Tentomons) is due to how the rom was built. Those Tentomons were originally four different Pikachus in the base game. Even though they are four separate cards, their names are the same and therefore, your deck could only contain four copies between them. But since I will be remaking this game using something called a Disassembly, I may be able to get around that. Hopefully so, since that means I'll be able to have even more Digimon in the game. 😁

I also have not tried the Vs Player and Trading features. How that will go down is anyone's guess. 🤷‍♂️

I honestly wasn't expecting an update. I thought this hack was abandoned for the longest time. Boy am I glad to be wrong about that.

Glad you're looking forward to it! But please don't wait on the edge of your seat too much; the updated version is still months off. But yes... stay tuned... ;)

I do have 1 request. If you could dial back the energy costs on some of the cards. You gotta admit, some of the energy costs are a bit high.
Sure, I'll concede to that.

Just something I felt like doing, Dracomon, EX-03 Draconic Roar

I'm not sure about the colors but the idea is there
Hollllllyyyyy shhhiiiittttt!!! These are fucking fantastic!
Pardon my language by goddamn! I'm totally in awe at your work!

I haven't done any work on this hack in a while. I was mapping out a Pokemon Platinum but ran into trouble when I realized there was no way to program branching evolutions at a certain level while holding a certain item. Seeing this Dracomon here lowkey inspires me to get back into Digimon Adventure TCG and keep working on it haha.
