And I stand by it. I was never too into the idea of seeing family as anything other than family- myself, at least. And being black, it's practically unheard of. We have pretty tight-knit families for the most part, so cousins being as close as brothers and sisters is a pretty often occurence.

But, then again, I did enjoy Fruits Basket quite a bit, and not just because it starred my love Laura Bailey.

Well I really feel that its kinda weird that on the one hand people complain about the "plain, and bland" vanilla romance between Kazuto and Asuna, then immediately shift gears on complaining about one sided love as automatically incest. To me it seems Kazuto treats Suguha as just that, a really close sister and relative.

IDK at this point I just think people already have ingrained biases to have a rational discussion about this series in general. I try to talk to people about the stuff that arises about VR tech and its applications, then it devolves into flaming and baiting about the same old tired social issues that one cannot expect to have a rational debate about.

I have enough of that stuff in talking about American politics and the culture wars everyday over Abortion, Gay Marriage, gender equality and whatnot.

Pretty much. Just like most of the girls in the show. It's pretty much expected of a harem. Well, usually.

But I think people harp on SuguXKazu for different reasons than AsuXKazu. Specifically, While I do think that the romance between Asuna and Kirito is bland, plain, and far too dynamic-less to be realistic, that's because their characters are the same way.

With SuguXKazu, I heard it best described as something along the lines of "The Relationship That Never Was". Because there are only really hints and...that's it. Hints from Sugu. But there's not really any buildup or...anything. It's more like something that's happening, and you see it, but you already know how it ends and...that's pretty much it. Kinda like a side attraction that's running alongside the main show. One that, when it ends, you think "Oh, did that happen? Huh."

In the end, I'd say neither of them are particularly compelling relationships. Asuna's relationship is just two perfect for something that had no buildup, especially considering that (since the creator doesn't plan things out and just writes, so we can omit the later SAO-based LNs) it just kind of happens, and with Sugu it's pretty much the same way, except you're given less reason to care. Unless breasts are an important reason to you, in which case the opposite is true for Sugu.

And I mean this all sincerely. Trust me, I'm the last person who'll aggressively bash something or blatantly give cynical opinions.
