2mature5me. You should stick your adult franchises, like No Game No Life, DURRRR and
Zetsuen no Tempest.

It appears you don't like fun, or really are a bit dense. I DUNT LIKE ONE PEES BECUS IT IZ LONG.

I've seen plenty of people read 700 plus chapters in a few weeks.

My school library had two notable manga.

One was about a woman who was cheated on and left with an autistic child, and the other was about some adventurous girl who does nothing but remind me of Netto.

People release batches without filler and One Piece has been getting an unofficial edit which massively improves the pacing. For longer series you could also you know, read the manga.

I'm pretty sure you wouldn't need me to tell you that the filler boogeyman is not a long running series problem only, plenty of short series do the same thing. There have been some real caese of filler hell though, there was close to 100 eps at the end of part 1 of Naruto and there were some rather intrusive ones in Bleach. These are the reason why people that don't really read manga start doing so.

Filler isn't always bad though of course.

Eh, I don't really think there's anything wrong with avoiding a series because it's long. Quality comes into question (more for anime than manga), waning interest is always a threat, general lack on motivation (for both the writer and the reader), and a general interest in constant development is likely not to be appealed to. Saying they're bad because they're long, though, is another matter entirely.

Sure, people can read 700+ chapters in a few weeks, but this is about entertainment, not obligation. Hearing something like that sounds more like a chore than a fun time. And sure, if you feel interested enough in a series to actually do that, then by all means, but if you're doing it because "there's so much" or "you need to catch up", it's just not fun.

At this point, I've more or less given up on manga, since my local library only carries maybe 1-5 volumes

My old library proudly carried a vast selection of varied manga and even kept them apart from Western comics like Batman and Spider-Man

If your library's part of a network of libraries (most are these days), check their website to see if you can get a specific book that's in their network reserved and sent to your library for you to pick up.

My own local library has that capability, and if it doesn't have what I'm looking for, I can just hop over to the next county's system and have it ready for pickup at the nearest library to me in that county. But the library situation's a bit interesting in Minnesota where several county library systems are members of a larger regional alliance of libraries called MELSA, where if you have a card in one system, you can pop into another MELSA library system and have them register your card in their database and be able to check out books with that.

Quality issues or lack of motivation never come into play with shorter series, right.

If you can watch garbage like Fairy Tail for that long then you can undoubtedly enjoy long series. I seem to remember you mentioning watching Bleach in the past as well, another not so great one.

You know what I mean, Laptrap. And it's really because it's a combination of those things that make these larger issues for interest in longer series.

Well, except motivation. Motivation is far less a problem for shorter series than it is for longer ones- generally it's half the reason people drop longer anime.

Been seeding those episodes since day 1.

Waiting for √ to finish so I can tear into a double cour marathon of happiness.

I couldn't even understand it, because it was bootlegged and thus had Japanese and Chinese dub tracks running at the same time. Strawberry meeting naked catwoman was my first exposure to anime indecency. Note that I was six or seven.

Lewdness at such a young age is probably what set you on the road of destruction that is your current taste in chinese media. Deviant.

Pretty good, myself. Spent my first weekend at school which...was a bad idea, since I didn't actually have the food or the clothes (or even a towel) to support me. It was fun, though. Caught up on Monogatari while my roommates were at MAGFest and finished Amaburi and Barakamon (thanks for recommending the latter, by the way, it was a lot of fun).

Now I'm home and I'm pretty much only doing scholarships. Nothing's particularly in the plans, but I'll see as it goes.
