I think Nausicaä is the only pre-Ghibli series which was produced by a majority of the Ghibli staff. There were things that both Takahata and Miyazaki worked on together long before Ghibli though.

I've heard as much, just got a little confused since I keep them all in my Studio Ghibli folder.

Miyazaki's certainly an interesting choice for Lupin, though; even without the Ghibli track record. From what I've seen of Lupin, though, he nailed the feel.

But it's pretty strange some of the movies they haven't made Blu-Ray yet. I mean, Wind Rises just hasn't been released yet, but then there's Kiki's Delivery Service (I'm pretty sure) and most notoriously, Spirited Away. I /think/ those are the only ones, but SA is a movie that demands it. It's a good looking movie regardless, but I can't imagine what it would look like touched up.

Well the thing with Miyazaki is that he worked on several of the 1st series Lupin episodes before he made Castle of Caligostro, so in that respect he had quite a bit of practice in getting the Lupin feel down before he made the movie.

Awesome. No spoils.

Hmm...actually, I wonder if it got localized and sold as tankoban stateside. Inuyasha, Ranma 1/2, and Rin-ne did, so I would hope Maison would have as well.

But I worry that it might not be covered thanks to its genre. The other Taka-works were all Viz. If not, it'll be a while before I get into the manga.

The volumes I was reading were professionally translated and read from left to right, it's safe to say you can buy iy in the States.

Time for this week's Shippuden. Sasuke's arrival must be soon, looking forward for seeing that animated.

I like your onee-chan, synchroman. Where can I get one?

Film was good.
Especially nice surprise was that, spoilers by the way, while the film played most modern Hollywood action flick clichés pretty straight, the romance between the protagonist and the obvious love interest wasn't made in your face and obnoxious, as they often are in films like this. There wasn't even a kiss scene; in fact the most important moments they shared touched more on the guy's psychological issues with his mother than anything else. It was great.

Best recent marvel flick I've seen. The only other one I've seen being the Avengers, though.
